RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2020 Good morning all, A dull start to the day but it is forecast to brighten up. I wish I could. Bin men can be heard nearby. After my error a couple of weeks ago I have put the right bins out (and neighbours} so all should now be well. It did take some inventiveness and effort to try to cram everything in but there is still a surplus of cardboard residing beside the bins but they will take it anyway. And just have. Today I'm awaiting a parcel containing descaler for my coffee maker so if it arrives one of today's tasks will be to use it. There are also various domestic things that need attending to and my assistance has been requested. Have a good one, Bob. 19

Is there a standing charge element to the bill to cover other services provided? Our charges have five elements. The meter reading generates two elements, fresh water used and waste water. These items each have a standing charge. On top of this there is a fixed charge for rainwater removal. If you do not have mains drainage you can get a rebate on some of the elements. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2020 Morning. The snow has done its usual and gone back north somewhere, and Snaefell is once more a green fell. Well its a mountain actually, but you get the idea. Yes Jamie 'false hypos' are a thing. I used to get real ones too, as I have reactive hypoglycaemia, just to be awkward. This causes overproduction of insulin after eating....yes those carbs again! So my blood sugar is a roller coaster ride, or at least it was before I learned to control it, I would bounce from 13 to 3.5. All about insulin resistance, and the body's reactions. Interesting, but not fun when you are the subject matter! Thankfully now under control after a lot of research and even more use of a blood glucose meter to work it all out. Local healthcare is nothing like as good as Beth has had to support her, although my new GP is OK. Still waiting for the full diabetic clinic review, it's been 8 months! Eyes I get tested every year anyway, and I have had a podiatry review, but nothing else outside of the surgery other than DESMOND course - which like the specialist nurse in the surgery was a waste of space, didn't have a clue about my condition or the carb thing, just NHS leaflets and 'healthy plate' stuff. Full of carbs and fruit.....grrr. Oops sorry, rant. /rant mode. I'm off to the bike car club soon, breakfast calls. No toast though. Carbs! 1

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2020 Ey up! Late riser this morning (at least for me it is). Blue skies outside, a few odd jobs to get done today including pumping water out of our front garden. Having the watermeter still means we have a fixed charge. However our water bills are lower than before we had the meter. Result! Right, time to get some carpe diemed (but only after my mugatea!) RMweb Premium Dave Hunt Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) Grey, damp and dismal this morning - and the weather's not much better either. Once muggocoffee No. 2 has been consumed things may well take on a rosier glow though. Jill and I are going to walk into town a bit later, which although only about a mile and a half each way is enough for me most of the time these days. She will be calling in at the surgery to do her daily BP check, which is going quite well and is steadily getting lower each day so she hopes that next week she will get the all clear for her operation. Then we will have some (low carb) lunch before heading back and, I hope, a bit of mo****ing time. Good to hear that Rick and Beth are improving and thoughts for others who ail. Keep carpe-ing those diems people. Dave Edited January 10, 2020 by Dave Hunt

I doubt you (or anyone else) would ever have guessed correctly what it is, so I’ll tell you. What you see is the (downstairs) flow and return manifolds for our central heating system and are being viewed end on. The bits of brown string are small bore copper pipes that go to the various radiators (hall, dining room, living room and kitchen). These will all be lagged once again when all the work is complete. Is there a standing charge element to the bill to cover other services provided? Yes we have an annual standing charge. Our water is supplied by Essex and Suffolk Water ( head office in Durham!). Sewage charges don’t appear on the bill, we get a separate bill from Anglian Water. We pay a lot less for our water supply and waste with our meter than our neighbours who still pay charges based on the rateable value. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2020 Good morning everyone It’s a dull start to the day here in the northwest of England. For this morning’s trip to the Trafford Centre I will be accompanied by Sheila, as she wants to get some cards for some up and coming birthdays. Then no doubt we she will want to look in other places “whilst we’re passing”, so it will be a long(er) morning. Our return journey will be via the butchers where I’ll pick up the weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for dinner. James and Amelia aren’t coming tonight as he has other arrangements, so it will be just the 2 of us for tea. Enjoy the day, back later.
RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 10, 2020 Good morning, Cloudy but not too dull here. Muggertea made a while ago, muggercorfeee needed soon. I note that Mr P is being rather brave, posting pictures of three unmentionables. I do like the wall-hung watercolours. The collection of metal mugs for tea however seems strange and less than effective. I didn't get into the Sports Club yesterday as my calls for the keys fell foul of a telephone blocking system recently installed by the key-holder; another effort will be made today. A trip to the nearby town is also necessary to relieve the local building society of some shekels it holds on my behalf for me to pay for the iPad bundle being bought from a friend / neighbour. Otherwise, today will be a fairly quiet day as I prepare for the demands of the morrow at the daughter's mansion. If all goes well tomorrow, I may just get over to Stevie Nidge on Sunday to see an exhibition - and no ChrisF, that is not meant as a description of you. Peace and love brothers and sisters, peace and love and whatever you get up to, I hope it goes well. 17
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2020 Morning all from Estuary-Land. The lurgi is still in retreat but its left me with a wunny dose, I'm going through tissues like nobodys business. I've managed to lose nearly three kilo's since Christmas, mainly down to cutting my bread consumption by half. This is achieved by replacing the four slices at breakfast with a bowl of porridge made with skimmed milk. 2 hours ago, BlackRat said: Morning one and all......... RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2020 As you know I've writing a speech for Burns night, now at 3 pages it won't get much bigger.. I came across this which I thought many would like... To a (computer) mouse by Simon Edmands (with apologies to Robert Burns!) Wee, sleekit, cow'rin', tim'rous beastie, Of faded plastic, all pale and yeastie With two wee buttons and bevelled wheel I really love the way you feel Against my hand as you roll around Your wee mousemat with ne'er a sound It's true there's cracks now in your casing And your rollerball may need replacing But still you plough on strong and tireless Whilst those around you are all now wireless! Then suddenly with nae a warning In an act made of the devil's spawning Where once it was upon the screen Your little arrow can nae be seen Blood pressure rising and lips a-pursing Instead of cursor there now is cursing And now your wheel is also sticking Despite my frantic button clicking But unfortunately this sort of trick Cannot be cured with a double-click The system's crashed, there's just one route Control Alt Delete, and then reboot! Aye, wee, sleekit, cow'rin', tim'rous beastie, Of faded plastic, all pale and yeastie Sitting smugly on your wee mousemat Ya nae mouse of mine, ya dirty RAT! 10 1
Popular Post Sir TophamHatt
Morning all! A good start to the day. And a good start for the new diet... yeah, yeah, new year, new me and all that but I really am going to try this time! Don't like tea or coffee and plain water is just... plain. Squash is a little boring and I don't want to have too much milk or juice as that can't be healthy either. Can't drink alcohol at work so fizzy drinks it is! Or was. Luckily I have had a mixture of juice and squash, which seems to be okay, for now. Salads at work every day (I hate salad!) and porridge ("hot oats" actually) for breakfast every morning, which has made me quite full. Swapped the chocolate biscuits for strawberries and grapes. I'm a bit weedy (apart from my little belly I've been growing!), so a little embarrassed about going to the gym - that and the cost. With a new baby in a couple of months, not sure a gym membership for the year is going to be worth it. With all this "get more healthy" stuff, I'm surprised there aren't a lot more bargain bin gyms about. Cheerio! 5

Good luck. By yge way the specialist Dr us called a 'diabetolugue' which trips easily off the tongue. Jamie 8 1
