RMweb Premium Dave Hunt Posted January 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 2, 2020 Good grief Rick, that looks like something that would be more at home at the end of one of HH's legs! Having had a major foot trauma five years or so ago I sympathise and echo Baz's comment about the possibility of medical support. I hope that you can get some sleep. To everyone else, have a peaceful and restful night with particular thoughts and prayers for those of you in Australia. Dave 17
RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted January 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 2, 2020 Good evening everyone Its been a day when a lot has been done, but not as much as I would have liked. I ended up playing about with some electronic bits and pieces and one of the circuits didn’t quite work as I’d like, I finally got it working by adding a transistor and a couple of resistors, as the opto-isolator wasn’t giving out enough ummph to operate the relay, but I finally got it working as I’d hoped. I even found time to try on my new wetsuit as well! Happy birthday Mike Goodnight all 15 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted January 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 2, 2020 All can now be revealed - albeit not in full detail. We went to see 'Singin' In The Rain' at The Mill at Sonning and very good it was too, as was the dinner; fortunately red cabbage did not appear to be a popular vegetable with many people so I had (some of) theirs, and the gammon wasn't all that popular either, so I ... .... So water and 'Singin' In The Rain' - a connection emerges perhaps? You bet it did because the onstage (and on some of the audience) 'rain' was, yes - you've surely guessed - real water, in considerable quantities! More explanation tomorrow. PS We were in the back row, where the rain didn't fall. 20

Antics such as kissing policemen (and women), hundreds of complete strangers soaked from the fountains and spilled drinks joining arms for Auld Lang Syne in Trafalgar Square, conga-ing along the Strand and bring refused entry to the Savoy (I wonder why) plus the inevitable scramble to board you night bus home. We had some great nights in Birmingham in the 1960s and 70s. Before NYD was a Bank Holiday I went to a party at the home of a BBC producer with whose daughter I was quite friendly at the time. I was due at work in the Signal Shop at Crewe on 1st January so I primed someone to get me onto the train which left New St at 0250. I woke up on a bench on Crewe station at 0630, over two hours after the train had terminated there. Went down to my digs, changed and had breakfast then caught the bus to clock on at 0755. A few years later when courting Mrs SE we went to a Hogmany Night run by the Ian Campbell Folk Group. That turned into a real manic session. We ended up running from Digbeth Civic Hall to Colmore Row to catch her bus at 0100. I walked her home before returning some time later to catch the bus back to the city centre and arriving home for breakfast then back into the office. Today's celebrations seem dull by comparison. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I have bottles of wine that must be 40 years old. The fact is that I drink very little alcohol if at all and they have simply been forgotten about. They have been stored in a cool environment, less than 17 degrees on their sides to keep the corks moist. Problem is if I opened one and the contents turned out to be OK I'd still end up throwing most of it away. 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post skipepsi Posted January 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 3, 2020 Back to the Doc's tomorrow to see if I am allowed to drive, they felt I was at risk of a seizure so I was banned from the 18th December onwards. I think it is the extra bits on my C Spine poking nerves... The side effects of statins has been informative to say the least. Popular Post AndyID
I have this day purchased some infrared transmitter/receiver pairs. These will be used to detect the position of certain unmentionable objects. $28 for 100 pairs - and free shipping! How bad can they be? 20 1

The House of Fun must manage without me for a time. And that’s before the bronchitis which continues to trouble the parts gout doesn’t. 4 hours ago, Barry O said: Rick, that looks very painful. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, 1066/666, no battle of Senlac, but a battle with the weather. 6 hours of sleep tonight I could do with more. Ben the I'm not going out in that Collie, did not appreciate the absolute downpour going on outside. It dropped to merely raining when I went out to open the gate and get the car out, but returned to Chuckinitdarn soon after. It is hammering on the roof of the factory at the moment. There were many places en-route that the water stretched across the road, including on the A roads. Ben has always preferred rainwater to drink, it may well be a hang over from when he was walking abandoned in the streets of Ireland.. I'm working on a major system at the moment, which seems to be going OK, it's one that had a repair a few months ago so it's calibration is a bit out of sequence at the moment. The Boss is not happy, one of the suppliers who calibrate our prime standards changed their Calibration uncertainties. This means the boss had many hours of computations changing of spread sheets, changing of results and certificates. As he has to follow the change all the way down the line as it cascades to more and more equipment. Just as I was driving into Stalham last night I thought... I should be 40 miles away arriving at my sailing compatriots.. oooops Time to... head for the lab and continue the major system.. RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted January 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2020 Morning. Rick, I can soooo sympathise. There's something 'special' about foot pain, it reaches figures other parts cannot reach. I have broken, bent and bashed many body parts over the years as well as several bouts of surgery, but have never experienced pain like the Lisfranc fracture and its repair delivered. I see Dave has been there in some form too - my commiserations! Mike, the 'singing in the real rain' experience was here a few weeks ago - I gave it a miss, we get enough here as it is, but it proved popular. This morning brings the OF bike club meeting, but not in our usual venue as they have not as yet returned from their break. The 'new' place may turn out the be regular as the eats are better. We do have some loyalty towards then though, as they lost their lease on their previous place under dodgy dealing circumstances so we moved with them to support their new venue as they struggled to get it up and running. They are better established now though, we'll see what the next few weeks brings. 18
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted January 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2020 Good morni g from a very Maritime bit of the Charente. It's raining hard and hopefully some of yhe mud is being washed away. Nursey has been and is pleased with Beth. She was very pleased with a Paté recipe that Beth had given her. She'd made some for Christmas and apparently her brother couldn't believe that it was from an English patient. Breakfast about to be eaten and coffee drunk. Much time in the shed today I hope. Regards to all and Rick, hope that gout gets sorted. Jamie
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted January 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Good morning all. Downtown Newcastle much more pleasant than the night before as no football on and many more places open hence it was very pleasant in the Newcastle Tap drinking Bernard Dark , a rather nice Czech brew. A better nights sleep to previous night when the air con alarm went off at 2am. Luckily hotel staff managed to switch it off from the service cupboard and had air con working in the room by our return last night. This morning we train it to York for lunchtime beer then hopefully a TPE push pull service to Leeds, drop bag at hotel then meet up with Baz for afternoon beers. I think its a thermostat/alarm that is under the bed side table. I managed ot take the cover off but no means of disconnecting it without breaking it. I didnt know it was that till they switched it off along with the air con control box. It sounded like a ceiling fire alarm you would have at home but the fire alarm sounder is above the bed . The previous night it was flashing red and making quite a noise. Overnight and morning its flashing green Edited January 3, 2020 by roundhouse 1 2
