I now feel vaguely human and have some idea of what day of the week it is.

 

Christmas plans went awry due to a family emergency which developed late on Tuesday, so I extended my stay. The outcome could have been much worse, but it's a complex situation that will need careful handling. 

 

I'm now back home and spent a couple of hours at the gym yesterday evening to decompress with a much-needed swim, sauna and steam.

 

In other news, I'm pleased to report to @Barry O that his parcel arrived safely at its destination. Thanks for venturing out on the 23rd!

 

In among the melee I managed to make a couple of e*ay sales which have been posted this morning. 

 

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the washing is on. More domestic stuff beckons later.

Morning (just),

 

Well, I have taken Baz's implorings in part to heart and seized the morn. I spent a significant amount of time dredging up memories from my past to add to a rather interesting Christmas present from one of my grandchildren. It is a book that has a series of prompts to bring out my life's stories and thereby provide a chronicle for them. Some may say that it is presaging my demise, others could feel (as I do) that it is a worthwhile exercise in describing how the world has changed through my three score and ten with some bits about my parents and their parents too - a way for my grandkids to learn from the mistakes of their forefathers - foremothers sounds so wrong but they do exists, don't they. I like to undertake this in the morning, it seems to suit with my general duties as significant and detailed pressure is not raised until midday.

 

Since taking responsibility for The Mutt, we have been concerned about his bowels, not sure that his quick trips around our little patch were being used to dump or not. This morning I was tasked with making a close examination of the grounds and I can report he is performing well, having loaded a little green degradable plastic sack from a number of locations and deposited the sack in the correct bin. I received a pat on the head for that - you can tell that SWMBO has taken to this dog-love thing!

 

We have not visited the likes of food supermarkets since the 24th. Between ours and our daughter's fridges, there are plenty of ingredients but we are getting low on cow-juice now. I suspect I will be detailed to resolve that soon. A small amount of turkey still remains, it should be converted into the obligatory Turkey Korma this afternoon. The carcass has been stripped and boiled with herbs, porcini mushrooms and a little rice to form the other stalwart of this season - Turkey Broth.

 

Little is planned for today, she is busy ironing the mountain left by our daughter (knowingly, I'm sure) and I should have a perambulation to help my symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis and increasing mass. I may do a little shopping for modelling needs if the mood takes me (and the supply of said tokens has a positive sign in front of it.

 

Best to all, particularly any sufferers. Has anyone heard from The Stationmaster? I know the train service is extremely limited but he does normally keep abreast of ERs.

On facebook there is an absolutely hilarious clip of a couple trying to get an 8' by 4' sheet of ply into a VW Golf. I'm not sure how to post it here but if you look on my Facebook feed you can watch it.

Afternoon,  the day started off nice and sunny but grey clouds are now prevalent. Having an easy day today, yesterday I fitted a new integrated larder fridge, the job went better than expected and the money that would have even spent on having it fitted is going into modelling funds, well that's my plan!

Old one disposed of this morning so all good.

Other half is still under the weather as they say but progress is being made, planning to get a couple of hours in the shed later on.

The back said I was sewing this morning so I did,  this was followed by Ben the I want to go the long way round Collie,  taking us for a walk in the cloudless sky,  the sun was warm the breeze was not. 

We're went down past the lesser quality land owned by this house from the 1812 enclosure till 1964 when it was sold off to the farm around us. As such it's pretty soggy at the moment and back then was probably used for summer grazing. 

 

On arrival back a parcel from the strong ladies had arrived,  padded thermal overalls,  hopefully the padding and the warmth will reduce the bruises when working on the boat... 

 

Walking on the slippery muddy  lane was not the best idea for my back,  so when this Muggacoffee is consumed I'm off for a long bath in the sunshine..  When I return it will be back to sewing..

Istr  many years back, the G2 'Super D' being left  in a similar condition and  eventually had to be removed back to the NRM before it was just a pile of rust dust.

Afternoon all 

Today I made an all out effort to pack up the kitchen apart from a few Items being used.

 

I had some nice conversations today Blondie and Lady Hazelmere,  then wrote to several bimbo's

from one of the dating forums to go forth they are a pain this site is not very good at spotting them.

 

Tomorrow will be an all out attack on the garage to finish that off and I'm good to go. 

 

Phil your mate Reg was out from dawn till dusk or later cleaning the 3 cars they own he grinned ever time someone looked at him 

the bloke is a total fruit cake, silly thing was he done them last week and they have not been used. 

 

In the evening I'm having a sleep over to mind the big dog, he has an anti bark muzzle which will go on when I go up to bed

some sitters say he howls but I've never heard him last night I went to feed him and let him out for 1's & 2'S he started to climb

the fence the new neighbours have a dog he would like to silence I stopped him from going over the top 2.1 metre's high easy peasy 

for him. 

I'm have a break from packing and will watch some sh!te on TV I feel a snooze coming on. B. Woodhouse

Greetings all from Sidcup where we have had blue sky all day and an overnight frost. Today has largely been lazy although I have managed to complete and submit my tax return. I have only been to Ely cathedral once but have seen it many times as Mrs Lurker’s sister lives in Littleport, the next town up the A10. The cathedral is referred to as the Ship of the Fens and it certainly does dominate the landscape. Iirc Ely means the isle of eels and you an certainly see that it would have remained drier than the surrounding area.

Had to go into town today - to take back the items that 30747 bought as gifts for certain people, then found that she had already bought gifts last year, and not given them - still, it reduced the overall bill by a few modelling tokens,

Evening all,

 

Up has at last been caught.  Every day for getting on for a week i have managed to get part way through RMweb without arriving here - but now I have (via Moretonhampstead as noted above).  I am pleased to report that Christmas dinner has finally been completely consumed as Charlie the cat and I shared the last of the cold roast pork earlier today - enroute various of the family have consumed the roast Christmas dinner itself (well a good part of it) and have had the leftovers as chicken sarnies, pork sarnies, bits of cold chicken for Charlie, cold chicken & pork with salad, chicken curry, and chicken soup.   However to this pretty unoriginal list of how to clear your Christmas dinner leftovers I must add a new delicacy which I invented - (cold) pigs in blankets sandwiches with a small sloshing of tomato ketchup, very yummy.   Some limited shopping has taken place on outings to buy the 'papers but generally the fridge and freezer are still providing and we're out later this week to celebrate my latest completed orbit.  Incidentally a friend of ours often serves cauliflower cheese as a vegetable dish with a meal and I think she did it at Christmas one year.

 

Sorry I'm late to the party but statins gave me cramp although it took more than 10 years on simvastatin to do it.   l then went through the whole lot of anything ending in 'statin' and some were even worse and I'm now on fenofibrate which I don't think causes my cramps (which are bl**dy 'orrible but can be mitigated by taking dioralyte) but it doesn't seem to do as much for cholesterol as the statins did.  My advice to anybody based on my experience with statins is like NHN's - stay away from them because if you do get the side effects badly you'll never get rid of them even when you stop taking the statins.

 

Almost as bad was the a.r.soul just up the road who started letting off fireworks in his pocket handkerchief size back garden at 21.00 on Christmas Night, fortunately it only lasted a short while.  However his long standing interest in buying fireworks which are far too lively for the tiny patch where he sets them off might eventually lead to a permanent solution although the house between ours and his is extremely close to his boundary which could be embarrassing.

 

On a brighter note I'm hoping this week to fit in a visit to the Cornish toyshop in Guildford to which some goods with my name on have been transferred from Camborne although at the moment a rail journey from here to Guildford is about as bad as one to Cornwall due to track being dug up at near Guildford.

Shredding day today - finally accepted that a P60 from 1995 and an appraisal from 1989 are of absolutely no use to anyone.

 

Then there was the motor insurance shredding back to 1998, the house insurance shredding back I don't know how long, tax shredding and payslip shredding.

 

Paper bin overflowing so now using cardboard boxes to store shredding for a couple of weeks, I wonder if I use this as packing for Ebay sales anyone would try and piece it back together

My Christmas Eve calf muscle pull continues to trouble me.

 

Saturday morning (after having been on a short flight on Friday) I noted blood pooling in the instep under the ankle. This was still present on Sunday so I headed to the ER (Emergency Room / Casualty) for a professional opinion. 

 

A (very) thorough ultrasound examination of blood flow indicated no clots or deep vein thrombosis and it was diagnosed as an outcome of the bruising in the calf.

 

Today the bruising in the calf itself is worse in appearance and more painful. I will follow up with my GP tomorrow.

 

In the meantime I have my feet up watching a nationally televised college football game (between two relatively small midwestern-ish universities) that nobody cares about except the participants and their boosters.
