Popular Post Simon G
Well it has rained cats and dogs here today, with the strong wind behind it. I have been doing inside tasks, document filing and cleaning up after more decorating. While doing the filing, I decided the paper file was starting to get overloaded, so decided to scan a few pages. This involved manually scanning 20 pages into a single PDF. I must have got some of the settings wrong on the first effort as the output was unreadable. Settings altered, a test page was done, then started to scan the 20 pages again. This time it got to the 19th page, and the scanner stops mid-page and wont continue, with a communications error. I tired a few things to restart it, with the result that I lost all 19 pages. Scanning abandoned for now! It could have been worse, as some poor Openreach guy has been parked at the end of our drive for about an hour and he has been out in the wind and rain in a BT hole in the ground next to a telegraph pole there. Rather him than me! 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted December 10, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2019 Afternoon all. What a cold wet and abundantly windy one it is. The House of Fun was not much fun in these conditions but I did manage to grab two hasty shots of the pre-sunrise sky. I am sorry to hear the Whelking Capital has had a visit from the dreaded black dog and sincerely hope that a return here might banish the aforesaid canine whence he belongs. The past hour or so has been claimed by the annual writing of C*******s cards all of which have duly been mailed. Small twinkly lights are blinking and plastic candles are illuminating some of the darkness. The "tree" is up; ours has for some years now been a small plywood cut-out meaning I don't have to lay tracks and provide suitable rolling stock to harvest fallen pine-needles as I did over half a century ago.

Away with work 'til the weekend so may not check in much. RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted December 10, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2019 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Blowing a hooley outside at the moment but not much wetness. Various evergreen shrubs that I planted many moons ago are doing a splendid job as a windbreak, most are now about 8 feet high and merged into each other and seem to attract the local wildlife as they form a convenient 'tunnel' down one side of the garden. Time to get dinner ready, liver and bacon tonight, be back later.
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted December 10, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2019 Evenin' each, Went to a branch of my bank in Worcester Park today only to find that is yet another to have been axed last month. I was there in October but nobody told me! It's free parking there but I then had to go to Sutton and pay for the privilege. Hollyhocks said I amongst other things! No tooth pain for a few days and course of Metronidazole finished yesterday which meant I could have a beer tonight for the first time in a week and also a glass of Shiraz to accompany a very nice Shepherd's Pie. Good show. NSV again. Bad show.

I bale out on early retirement in a few months and one of the things I'll really, really miss is the photocopier/scanner A4/A3, Auto feed, colour, double-sided, sooo fast, someone else feeds it with paper and toner, direct scan download to my pc - which has software that combines multiple pdf scans into a single file (great for electronic magazine copies). Maybe I could have it as a leaving prezzie.....if only it wasn't four feet long and four feet high Which reminds me - I must get to grips with Templot, sort a trackplan once and for all and get it printed off. Whilst I still have access to the A0 Plotter....

After the now usual half hour battle to find somewhere to park followed by the trek to the right department, he was taken away for an ECG and other preliminaries. Another hour went by and he finally got in to see a doctor who expressed surprise that Dad had a pacemaker, as his notes didn't record that, as well as stating that the appontment was actually unnecessary as all investigations had seemingly been carried out at a previous appointment at Telford. Apart from wasting our time, fuel, parking fee etc., I wonder what that fiasco cost the NHS? RMweb Gold Popular Post Oldddudders Posted December 10, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2019 Actually, news from the Alison front is better. When the lady doc found out that she had three kids at home with no adult, she relented, and various tests were done expeditiously this morning. Accordingly by 1415 I was already sitting in the 1st Floor accueil at the hospital (sort of office/help-desk) when she appeared out of the lift to gain her exit papers. [It helped that I had been a patient there in 2017, so knew where she would have to go.] She looked pale, said she'd had a headache for the last two days that paracetamol hadn't lifted. Desperate to be gone. By 1500 we were on our way, and she was home by 1600. Then there were boys to be collected/met off skool buses, a rendezvous with her GP to be arranged - the secretary was prevaricative until Alison waved her wrist at her, where the arterial incision had been made 24 hours before - but magically she sees a chap at 11 tomorrow. Then we had to collect a prescription. The headache has now gone and she and the boys have been profuse in their thanks. Stepping into the breech really isn't that hard to do. She is now off to sleep, she tells me by txt.

tigerburnie
Evening, brother now left and back home, but nothing done today, lousy weather so a lazy day inspecting eyelids with a hope of nicer weather outside tomorrow. The festive tree is up and SWMBO has done the decorating, I'm only allowed to install the lights, not quite the skilled job it used to be now LEDs are affixed and there's no loose connections anymore, looks nice though, only another fortnight to the big day...………………………………………….(what ever happened to the 12 days of Christmas, more like 12 weeks now). 16

There is no delight in any Vomiter. It seems I am required in hospital next Wednesday afternoon. A week before the festive season. I am now required in bed in order to rest and refresh for another cold, moist and blustery day at the House of Fun. G'night all.

The consultant is very pleased with her progress and the way the abscess has healed. Whilst heading for my scan this morning I called at the big red and white shed (Bricomarche and others are available) and got all the plumbing parts I need for the utility room. Out of interest here is a picture of the rats nest of pipes that I discovered. The shower waste runs along the bottom and that will acquire an in line trap. The sink waste will be cut off near the top of the 32mm part and have some new pipework added to mate up with the new sink. The washer waste will connect into the sink waste trap and on the right where the washer waste is running temporarily I will add a U bend for the dishwasher waste. The pipework has obviously been added to over the years which is why there are two sets of hot and cold feeds. One in 12mm pipe to the sink and one in 16mm to the shower. The new bathroom spurs off the 16mm pipes just out o to the left. More insulation will be added as well. It should keep me quiet for a day. Good news about Alison. Jamie The last four bathrooms I have fitted, I used those flexible connections with the fitted isolation tap included, so when washers need changing or new taps/fittings need working on there's no need to isolate supply or drain pipes, even fitted them on the feed to the toilet system, so much easier, you just close the individual isolator tap, this sort of thing https://www.diy.com/departments/flexible-tap-connector-with-valve-dia-15mm-dia-l-300mm/243589_BQ.prd 14 2 1
