I have to assume it is one person, same numbers, one prize  (for whatever reason that is) because I have occasionally won twice on the same ticket when I have had two different lucky dips and on two different tickets.  I’m puzzled as to why one person wouldn’t be allowed to win twice even with the same numbers.

6.2(a) applies - a duplicate ticket when purchased online is considered to increase the prize.  

 

If the duplicate ticket had contained different numbers but had still produced a win (of lesser, identical or greater value) then both wins would have been paid.

I've just managed to drill 60 x 0.7 mm holes into various pieces of nickel silver sheet, without breaking the drill bit!

 

This has to be a record (for me).

 

I now need to lie down and recover from the shock.

 

I bought a load of spare drills and don't need them.

 

I'm sure that normal service will be resumed tomorrow.

Well the weather this weekend was all wrong!  Saturday was forecast wet, and we stayed dry, while today was supposed to be dry, and it rained!  We did manage to get out for a walk this afternoon and as it was low tide, we were out on the sand.  It was good to get home for a cuppa tea though!

 

After a long period of inactivity I am starting to work out the best way to build my layout control panel.  I did have a plan with switches to move between DC and DCC, but that has changed to plug-in connectors instead.  That should simplify things a bit without sacrificing operability.

Well, that was exciting!

 

One of the elements in the electric oven just let go. The oven door was ajar, since we were grilling cheese on toast. The top element appears to have shorted internally and started to melt, showering sparks all over the oven and out of the door onto the kitchen floor. Eventually the breaker tripped, leaving the oven smoking and fine ash all over it - and the cheese !

 

I could replace the element, but we were thinking about a new stove anyway, so this just brings it forward. Off to the internet!

I hope you had something else in the pantry to scrounge for your supper, or brunch, as the case may be. I assume this triggered the smoke alarms as well? 

 

The drama of the smoke alarms going off in chorus and madly flapping tea towels / dish towels to try to quiet them adds to the madness.

Thank you for your concern. Yes, we had other edibles - fortunately the supply column arrived last week.

 

And the smoke alarm did go off, but we had our 6ft 3in son visiting and he pressed the reset button, so no dishtowels required to be flapped.

AdChoices (aka Ads by Google) is a curious beast.

 

Presently, on the bottom the American Red Cross is  asking for money. At the top a seller of ladies boots is trying to entice me with photographs of ladies legs wearing very tall boots. I will reassure you that I am not in any way in the market for this kind of product and while clicking on the advertisement might have some degree of prurient motivation, were I to do so, no doubt I will be inundated by advertising for ladies' fashion apparel - which I do not want.

 

Interestingly, sometimes there is an option to close the advertisement, telling Google to stop showing it to me, and sometimes there is not. It makes me wonder what controls this and whether the advertiser can pay more to have the option to close it turned off.

Sorry to have misunderstood, I thought we were still referring to Rick’s situation of having two tickets with identical numbers not a different situation with different numbers. This is why I don’t do lotteries, lots of numbers.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a great day at Warley, saw a couple of RMwebbers but the only ER I was able to speak with was Barry. My friend was well happy when Barry told him that his kit built locomotive was Portescape powered. His young son enjoyed himself thouroughly. He came away from the childrens build a model stand with a small signal box for his £10 layout that he built himself with a little help. Also he has been watching Jenny Kirks modelling videos on Youtube and he hero worships her and he was well chuffed to meet his heroine and even more so when she returned his greeting. I spent my WFA on a couple of locomotives plus some model buildings from Petite Properties. Now completely knackered, be back later.

Pleased to report man flu has subsided, just a bit of sinus rubbish now.

 

Visit to NEC show yesterday was tolerable, but I think (again) it will be some time before I next venture there. This year I had specific intent, but sadly again I came away with a never again view. I'm not sure what makes it such hard work, maybe it's the crowds, maybe it's the layout of the hall, maybe it's the fact that there was little in the way if navigation aids, the floorplans that were there were wrongly oriented and who 'designs' the NEC stand numbering & grouping - not only for this show by the way; it just doesn't seem to follow a logic/pattern.

 

On the plus side, I did meet some new RMwebbers, some old friends too - in fact one chap whom I last saw about 25 years ago. Step counter said 16,000 ish (equates to 7.6 miles for me) and I still can't be sure I saw everything.

 

Anyway, 06:00 alarm tomorrow so I should at least try to get to sleep though I'm feeling a tad agitated and anxious.

Good evening everyone 

 

Well the day started off ok, but within a couple of minutes some of the switches on my panel gave up the ghost, 4 were permanently ON. So I decided to changed all 6 and it’s been fine ever since. On checking the original switches they were very looked cheap and nasty. After that a few more experiments were made using a 555 timer in bistable mode switching an LED on and off, so that when the power is then switched off and then back on, it remembers it’s last sequence. My next experiment will be to see if I can get 2 LEDs to toggle on and off.

Started the day unhooking the motorhome to go off for more propane. SWMBO was a little worried driving, but Sunday morning traffic was manageable and I didn't get us lost. But they couldn't fill us as it was raining. We returned and I emptied some tanks and filled another. We may have enough left to get through the night.

There was a swan in the marina this morning, an addition to scores of Canada geese.

Good morning one and all

 

I went to Warley yesterday. Breakfast was taken at Corley services in the Harry Ramsdens outlet complete with exemplary fried bread.  On my way home I managed to find myself on the A46 instead of the A45 thanks to what some may consider an idiotic road layout and unsatisfactory signing.  Perhaps, but only perhaps, I was distracted by the in-car music - pulsating Quebec sounds from Le Vent Du Nord outwards, Merry Hell [a Wigan band] on the way home. 

 

At the show I could not get the one item on my shopping list but I am not easily deflected and will keep trying.  I spoke to loads of people, had a cuppa with my cousin 88C and his friend Chris – cue Brenda from Bristol: What, another one? - and had the pleasure of meeting Jesse.  I doubt that I saw everything I should have seen but then I never do.  If there was a meet in ‘Spoons at lunchtime I wasn’t there because I got lonely on previous occasions.  I’m sure that despite wearing the name badge I missed out on some brief encounters with fellow RMwebbers but then I always do.  My backpack did not clout anyone as far as I know.  About this I have mixed feelings.

 

The week ahead is typically busy.  Today I need to book my flu jab.  On Wednesday I must book some concert tickets at The Stables on the way to the HMRS meeting in Bletchley, which is a “work in progress” session.  On Thursday the Brains Trust convenes in London and on Friday I will be entrusting most of my seasonal greetings cards to the post.  Saturday should see me heading for the EMGS AGM in Nantgarw.

 

I see that someone has posted the footage of the burnt koala on Facebook.  It deserves a wider audience.
