They have turned out to be quite an affectionate pair who seem very fond of human company so we think they were no doubt very royally treated by the old lady they originally lived with and offered some pleasant companionship to her in return. We will be having some Waitrose breaded cod chunks for dinner tomorrow and it will be fascinating to see if that excites their interest as up to now one one of them (Charlie) has really been tempted by something other than cat food. 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 15, 2019 Good evening everyone After this morning’s trip to Asda, the Trafford Centre and the butchers I was able to complete the last of my MERG kits. Tomorrow I’ll start to play about with some electronic components to see if I can reproduce a working circuit that I’ve only done using some simulation software. If it works how I’m hoping it does, then I will be to operate a point motor, change frog and switch rail polarity and send a point position indicator using a single switch. I spoke to Vickie earlier and she was telling me about how she a time when she was chatted up by the “nutter” on the bus! To get rid of him, she used sign language and signed him that she couldn’t hear him as she was deaf! He then got up a left her alone and went to bother some other poor sod. After James and Amelia went home, we gave the place a quick tidy up and then opened a bottle or Rioja. Goodnight all
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2019 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Back on the old computer as I haven't transfered everything over yet. Had a look again at the £10 layout, it looks as though a rewire is in order. Taking a few things to test it tomorrow after visiting the Thundersley show.

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 16, 2019 At last the decorating is finished leaving just the hallway to be returned to normal; that threatens to be a lot more complicated than it would first seem, however, as I have been informed that there are authoritative decisions to be made about the siting of pictures etc. that are well above my pay grade but will affect my part of the proceedings, i.e., hammering, drilling, plugging and such. The cat has, amazingly, managed to retain its original markings without acquiring a patina of freshly applied paint and even my Dad has refrained from poking at things to see whether the paint really is still wet. Because of all the wet paint around, though, I managed to convince the Management that starting to put things back in order was best left until some unspecified date in the future and the best thing I could do this afternoon while she was at the hairdressers was to keep out of the way - in the workshop. The ploy worked so the day was improved no end as a result. Tomorrow sees the official switch on of the town's Ch*****as lights. In the middle of bl**dy November! My natural inclination is to give the whole thing a miss but I am reliably informed that this would be seen as churlish and put me in the Scrooge or Grinch category so I suppose I'll be attending. Since there will be a street market with food readily available it will, with luck, also negate the need for home catering so there is some benefit. I still find it bizarre though; maybe if I look on it as some sort of autumn fair it will seem less so. Time for bed said Zebedee. Goodnight all. pH
This is currently being used here in Canada as the soundtrack for a TV commercial for Ford pickup trucks: https://youtu.be/Gd_Q4KwDKEE Great song, but a version by a UK band (original was by John Lee Hooker!), and 55 years after it was released?

RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2019 We went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular today. It definitely is spectacular. The fellow that sat beside us is from Burlington -- that's where the nearest IKEA is. On the return trip, there was a brief delay as the tannoy shouted at someone to get off the side of the subway train. There followed a loud discussion at the end of our car which may have been related. The campground have turned off the water for the rest of the year. There is one tap still on. Tomorrow we run after propane, dump tanks and fill with water. Will not be at Derby. 3 2

The "accepted" time for this in the US is the Friday after Thanksgiving - Which this year falls on Friday November 29 (unfortunately and historically inappropriately named as "Black Friday" in the retail world). There is a "news" story today about a homeowners association in Texas unsuccessfully trying to delay a resident's holiday display until the "appropriate" time. 15 1

Ozexpatriate
Lots of progress today on my friend's O _________, ____________ today. Tunnel portals were tested for overhang with the MILW Olympian Hiawatha bipolar. A favourite image of mine is the promotional "tug of war" staged by the Milwaukee Road over the Snoqualmie Pass between steam and electric traction. The MILW began to electrify their mainline in the Rockies in 1914 and the Cascades in 1917. We will likely resume work on Monday. RMweb Premium TheQ Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2019 Mooring all, a fairly good nights sleep. Almost 7 hours. I must admit I wonder at Chrisf's ability to galavant around the country, I find travelling extremely tiring these days. Especially when combined with an event. I also wish I could sing, but my attempts would be bettered by Poppy the cat. Sadly although I'm interested in the Derby meeting, it's way to early to commit myself to it. On 30th 31st May is the 3 Rivers Race, to which I am committed. There may be meetings or training for that. The actual sailing programme and won't be posted until February and duties in March. I hope this ER meeting is successful and will be repeated, once retired juggling of my time will be easier.. I'm being huffed at by Ben the impatient collie.. Time to.. Go on patrol. 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 16, 2019 Ey up! Sounds damp outside but no rain. Feel sorry for people in the flooded areas of the UK. Our front pond yesterday Today is officially write Christmas card day (but that may be delayed until tomorrow as we are off, as guests, to a Cricket Club dinner this evening). If I can wangle it a bit more checking is required on the train set. Next week is Warley prep before I drive down on Thursday morning to help with checking the floor marking out, set up tables (about 650 of them) etc. Hopefully I can get a pint with Mr and Mrs Roundhouse over the weekend as well as cat hing up with some other ERs/RMWebbers. Grab today and make it a great day! Positive thoughts to all who ail! Baz
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 16, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, We have some blue sky with a hint of sunshine and a bright, dry day with sunny spells is forecast. My first task today is to obtain some bread. After that I am free to go on Shed although son Steve is paying a visit sometime today. I'm hoping that a little thing with 21 pins will be delivered today. This is a different make to the one I previously fitted in the new #### and I'm hoping that it will solve the running problems. (other people have mentioned a problem with the one I fitted) This of course means that I will have to take the thing apart and put it back together again. If I stay sane I may report back later. Have a good one, C.H. Ipfitter. Edited November 16, 2019 by grandadbob 18
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2019 Did I hear some one mention beer?? Are you in the same hotel as us Baz? Currently on a very lively riding Satsuma to Grantham. Even the on board crew were commenting on this. Hopefully it will be in time and make our connection to Nottingham. Now just debating which pub to start beer o'clock.
RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2019 Good morning, Dull and a lot of standing water again round here. I haven't checked on the nearby water gauges but I believe there could now be many tonnes of water accumulated in the roof-less houses on the building site and the developers will now see that they have built on a field that regularly used to flood but building more homes near London is far more important than planning to avoid long-term environmental issues. Poetntial buyers of these houses would do well to walk around th esite before depositing their hard earned money! As yet another friend will be overnighting here tomorrow, today will generally be focused on making his stay enjoyable in so far as good food and wine, lashings of gin and plenty of tonic. Shopping will therefore be high on the list of priorities with a haunch of venison to be the centre of the main course. That certainly is not vegetarian! SWMBO will be making a big thing of whatever starters and pudding she deems suitable that haven't been inflicted on offered before to our widowed guest. We might be expected to shelter some grandkids and maybe a dog during the day. I shall once more be raising the potential of a trip to Derby with The Management shortly. Not a lot else to note, be safe, be good and (where appropriate) get better.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted November 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 16, 2019 Yes I am at the same hotel Ian. Hopefully see you on Friday night. The azuma ride is...different but very, very poor. While it is great to have extra legroom the seats are dreadful and the catering is erring towards the non existent..bring back the HSTs with on tap beer!!!!
