Well in that case, "madlibs" it is! I had a very productive day today in my friend's _____________ room where we reconfigured some _____________ to enable the installation of a free-lanced ________________ for his O ___________, ________________ ____________ . Tomorrow I am off to the car dealer's repair shop to have the struts holding up the rear hatch replaced. They called me this morning to let me know that the extra parts (not ordered earlier) are now in. With recent warmer days, the hatch struts have behaved perfectly and the hatch has not hit me on the head once. 20 hours ago, AndyID said: The only snag is air stagnation isn't doing much for air quality. We have a very strong inversion layer in the lower atmosphere right now. Our stagnant air in the valley today meant a heavy layer of fog that, unlike yesterday, did not rise sufficiently all day to see the sky. Yesterday the fog did rise, but the day was very hazy and smoggy looking. All this dry weather is very unusual in what is supposed to be our wettest month of the year. I ran an errand yesterday that led me to SE Portland. With its warren of one way streets, I let Google direct me. I can't be certain that I was misdirected, possibly making a wrong turn, but at one point found myself crossing the river to downtown only to be immediately directed back over the river via the same bridge. Little things seem to set me off lately. The surge of frustration triggered a gastric episode that feels like it is only just settling down this evening. Dinner seems to have helped, along with a barrel-aged beer afterwards. Edited November 6, 2019 by Ozexpatriate 5
RMweb Premium Popular Post BR60103 Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 MadLibs require a suggestion as to the word to fill the blank, either "noun" or "shade of dark green". We went in today about SWMBO's telephone+ as it's nearly full of photos that won't transfer to my computer. They talked us into a newer, larger model. Lots of fun trying to set it up as I didn't take the password crib sheet with me. 12

Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all I did my C*****mas shopping yesterday. Lest you credit me with superhuman powers, I should explain that I only buy one present. It is for one of the few ladies in my life, a friend of my late father who has become a friend in her own right. It comprises a selection of White Musk cosmetics and fragrances from my local Body Shop. This is not a shop where I feel at my ease, though the staff always do their best with me. I also bought some essentials for my trip to Dublin – a Lonely Planet book and a Rough Guide. I am not sure that I would now consider going anywhere overseas without a Rough Guide, which for my money is top of the league. I even found a reference in the Rough Guide to the event that I plan to attend: “A week of celebration ... culminating in a vibrant and entertaining street parade”. I’m impressed! On the subject of planning to attend, a long time ago now I ordered two tickets for an irresistible gig – June Tabor and the Oyster Band - at the magnificent Union Chapel in Islington. That gig is on Thursday of next week and something tells me that I should be panicking, for postie has yet to deliver the tickets. Why the promoters chose to send tickets by post instead of using e-tickets like everyone else could turn out to be a Good Question. Fortunately the receipt gives an e-mail address and a telephone number in Manchester. Wish me luck. Today I must write a report of last night’s LGCB meeting which not only regaled those present with a fine selection of historic slides but also some equally vintage cine film. That would do as a summary but I suspect that the bulletin editor is looking for something more fulsome. Nothing will happen until I have had my porridge. Best wishes to all Chris 19

Back in the summer we dropped the rental car off in downtown at Univeristy hotel next ot 405. Normally we only navigate downtown on foot or public transport. There are some odd little streets and traffic lights right by the freeway junction so were aware it was tricky. Luckily we didnt end up back on the freeway. Morning from a clear sky Surrey but it is chilly out there. Already been in the shed to fit a different speaker in one of my Harz narrow gauge locos. All now working so that allows me to cut the moulded coal load down and fit real caol. This loco may well be in use at Warley. 21
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 Mooring Awl... Inner Temple Hare, 1124/703 A very bad nights sleep, As Swmbo was at her weaving group, there were of course phone calls for her, so I had to stay up to pass them on. She was 1/2 an hour late getting back... So I retired to bed with choccy and started having a quick read of "Pit Lasses" and then 2 hours later finished it ooopppss... well past sleepy time.. Then I woke at 03:45 and have only managed slight dozes since... I'm knackered Dry cloudless , so Ben the Border Collie had a good charge around the garden this morning, frightening the pigeons. As the car is going in for repair today.. The emissions light has decided to go off.. Typical.. The users should have finally finished last weeks major equipment cross check, so the first hour today will be analysis of the results, then back to working on this weeks second major equipment, while the first goes on it's cross check, I couldn't do that before as the cross check equipment can't be in two places at once.. We've had it confirmed by email no going out for section Christmas do's this year. There will be a Christmas lunch on site on Dec 5th.. Where as we had to pay for meals before this will be free, on the other hand we get a lot less time off for the meal.. Time to... Wander down to the lab and get started.. 4
RMweb Gold Popular Post Stubby47 Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 As I am required to accompany SWMBO around Truro this morning, my planned modelling session will now hopefully be this afternoon. Yesterday's potential session in the garage was not utilised due to it being cold & wet and I wasn't that enthused ( so ended up playing Factorio on the pc). Have as good a day as possible . 12 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 Ey up! Cricket was interesting last night. Some players can't catch, others can't bat. And a near muss for one of the fielders as he was motionless as a ball flew past his head. An inch to the right and it would have been very nasty. Lots of parcels to do today. Post office to be visited then stock boxes to be checked prior to our visit to Newcastle Show this weekend. We have a visitor staying tonight..LNER4479 aka the owner of Grantham and Shap as more work is planned on my layout tomorrow. Hopefully Sharron should be feeling a bit better today Rick. Positive thoughts to all who ail and also to our missing ERs. Get hold of today and shake it into submission! Baz 22

They certainly can be. I'm less familiar with the east side compared with downtown. By the way, the beer was Rogue Dead Guy - but a special edition barrel aged in barrels used by their distillery for whiskey. I enjoyed it. Rogue also distills a special "Dead Guy" version of their whiskey, using the same malts as their "Dead Guy" ale. I've not tried that but almost bought a bottle yesterday. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 Good morning all, Blue sky above and there is a hint of brightness coming from behind the houses to the East. Sunny spells are forecast with the chance of some showers later this afternoon. Not many fireworks going off nearby last night, I think most had exploded over the weekend. First task today is to ferry The Boss to her favourite greetings card shop as she needs to get a sympathy card for our next door neighbour whose Mum, our previous neighbour, has just died. They'd just got her into a lovely local care home and she'd only been there a week but has been suffering a lot for a long time so really it's a happy release. After that The Boss is meeting friends and going out to lunch whilst I will navigate my way to The Shed and try not to burn myself or bang my head. Have a good one, Bob. 14 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) Morning all from a cloudy Charente but it's not raining, at the monent. A good friend came for tea last night and miracle of miracles I was allowed near the cooker. Beth had prepared the salmon but I was allowed to do the veg, make the parsley sauce (using French not English Persil) and then plate up and serve. A good evening was had and John and I both felt the need for some Scottish medecine to finish the evening off with. Beth had some of her cherry brandy. This morning Beth was in a bad way with much pain in her bad leg after the nurse had been she eventually got up and had breakfast. After that a shower. This is a combined operation that takes half an hour (no sniggering on the back row there). The help needed is mainly lifting and supporting to get over the two steps, plinth and threshold, and then later, back out again. After she's dressed and hair has been attended to, I return and clear up and get the shower sleeves dry. Anyway after the shower and morning meds she seems a lot better and is due to go to her weekly French class. Once she's been left there i'm off to a friend's for coffee. Regards to all. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 Good morning everyone A dull and grey start to the day here in the northwest of England. Breakfast has been consumed and as soon as Sheila has finished hers I will administer her first dose of eye drops. The plan is then to ‘drive’ the washing machine before putting away all the washing that was done a couple of days ago, thus leaving space for today’s laundry. After dinner we’ll have a short rest before I once again complete the school run as we are having Ava, Evie and Max round for tea. Ava has asked for pasta and meatballs, followed by apple crumble and custard. The apples were cooked a few weeks ago and I defrosted some over night, so all I have to do is make a crumble topping and some custard this afternoon. Enjoy the day, back later. 17
tigerburnie
Morning all, fitful night with disturbed sleep, no idea why, awoke to the morning chorus of the bin men, late on parade again!! Dull and calm but dry, poor light for photography, flat sea so fishing is pointless, might be forced to attend The Old Summer House and play "choo choo's"(will I get away with that as I didn't say modelling...…………………………..) Popular Post 34theletterbetweenB&D
Morning one and all. I rarely comment here for fear of writing a major essay, but have to report a triumph. Following a minor surgical procedure, we persuaded one of our elderly hold outs (closer to three figures than two, determined to live alone in his seventy years family home) to spend a week in a care home where he could be cared for and monitored to ensure that he didn't impair the effectiveness of the procedure this time. To sat that the 'persuasion' was like pushing jelly up hill with a stick is the very least of it. Don't want to go, etc.. Sneaked in yesterday evening. He was having a whale of a time, already found two cronies with shared interests. So we left him to it. We'll see tonight if he complains about no visit yesterday. Betcha he doesn't. 15

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) Morning all from Estuary-Land. A few fireworks last night and a spent rocket bounced off the roof of the car as I rounded Sadler's Farm roundabout, no damage though. They ceased altogether on our way to the auction as there was a heavy drizzle, enough to need the wipers on full. Bright and sunny at the moment but forecast to cloud over later with rain this evening. I have been going through another of my auction purchases, a box full of boxes. Some contain various unidentifiable electric gubbins, one contains a selection of yard/street lamps (00 scale) but most with the old grain of wheat bulbs. Some are empty but are fitted out as stock boxes so should be useful. I've still got some others I haven't opened yet.
