I suspect John will tell me off as I know he likes the activity, but ....... just a bit quiet and thoughtful this evening. The world cannot stop for one person. Messages are more important than silence. Life must go on. And just think, if there is a self-imposed silence, someone else in need of support might not feel inclined to post, and that's a darned sight more important. 14 3
Popular Post Simon G
John, I may not be on here as much as others, but my thoughts are still very much with you. They are also with Tony S, and hopefully the medics will get you sorted. At least there was no sign of the Big C on the lungs. Had a meeting of the local cancer support group today, with an excellent talk from a community first responder and her husband who is also a community first responder. She is also a nurse in the haematology department at the local hospital, so I already knew her. These volunteers have my respect for the job they do, and some of the carp they have to put up with as a result. Now settling down down for the final episode of Dublin Murders, which I have enjoyed despite struggling to understand some of what is going on in it! 11 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2019 Thought so. It only pauses for a thoughtful moment, John, not stops. Still listening too. Me yarping on about today's diabetic podiatry assessment seems a little, I don't know, disrespectful almost. So I won't. I was pleased to read Tony and Rick's news though. 4 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2019 In that case......risking my wellbeing by buying a 64XX, Tony! Nah, she doesn't mind really, Debs is very supportive, and likes Panniers! She has her new archery hobby too, for which the fearsome new bow cost a damn sight more! 14 2

Popular Post Simon G
John, when my father passed away over 6 years ago, it didn’t initially occur to me and my 3 brothers to carry his coffin into the Crematorium, but we later decided to carry him on his last journey, and were very glad that we had. I hope that you found a similar comfort. 5

brianusa
Only once did I ever venture into a crematorium when my grandfather died. Vowed there and then that was it; never been to a funeral since! Brian.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2019 There's not much, if anything, that I can add to what others have already posted concerning John and Sandy today so I'll just say that both of you have been in my thoughts. The rest of my day consisted of yet another visit to the practice nurses to have The Toe seen to (improving but not yet healed), taking SWMBO and a pal to the cinema to see Downton then picking them up again afterwards, cooking a gourmet egg and chips this evening and, err, oh yes, nearly forgot - several hours mod***ing! I've just about finished my first S7 three-throw turnout and have decided not to take up making them professionally after all. Two more to go for my la**ut and that's it - I'll settle for trying to copy a Rembrandt whilst alligator wrestling as a simpler alternative. Wishing everyone a peaceful and restful night. RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2019 (edited) Evening to most! Had an interesting day as I attended a funeral for an old umpiring colleague. It seemed to me that the funeral was taken at a pace..which was one of his wishes. More muddelling and parcel packing to complete tomorrow. The parcels are all items of Purley Oaks collection. Once Ebay have finished financial charges I shall be able to send money to Gabe. John, the ERs are an interesting bunch. The ones I have met I would have chosen as friends if I had met them in another way away from RMWeb. Positive thoughts to all ERs especially Sharron and Rick, John and her Debship. Sleep well all! RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2019 Good evening everyone Another day when absolutely nothing has been done, other than administering the medication to Sheila’s eye. Her sight is slowly returning, it it’s not quite back to normal. But according to all the literature she’s been given about this, it can take up to 2 weeks, so it’s still really early days yet. Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be any sign of infection, so I must be doing something right. The process starts with me washing my hands in anti-bacterial hand wash. Setting put all the cleansing equipment and eye drops. Washing hands again (there may be dirt etc on the packaging/boxes). Clean around the eye with sterile water, each piece of cotton wool is used only once. Wash hands again. Apply eye drops. Wash hands again. Repeat above 7 times through the day. My hands have never looked so clean in years! Tomorrow looks like being the same, although I may be asked to drive the washing machine again. Goodnight all. 7

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted November 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) Evening all from Estuary-Land. I seemed to get something in my eye when I read the poem in Johns blog. A bit late tonight due to one of the items purchased at the auction. That item was a layout, purchased on behalf of my friends young lad. Problem was we had to get it into the car to take it home. It only just fitted in the car with various other boxes and bags. The layout itself is only 2' by 3' and is a 9mm gauge 'rabbit warren' type. It looks a bit tired and faded but the young man couldn't wait to test it, at 11 o'clock at night, and it worked! Not bad for £10, yes £10 that was all that was paid for it! Now time for bed, goodnight all. Edited November 6, 2019 by PhilJ W 19
brianusa
Booking to go to the pictures now? We used to queue up for the 1/9s or the circle 2/6d. Ice cream 6d. Cheap evening out; a bit dearer these days! Brian. 18

Doing that for Sheila is very caring of you Brian. My Mum recently had cataract surgery in both eyes (one at a time of course). She administered her drops herself. I don't know whether she had the same sterile protocol. I didn't ask whether Dad's assistance was not required / desired. After a timely recovery from the first surgery, she had the second done quite promptly and with much less anxiety. 19
