Good morning everyone 

 

It's a very blustery day here in the northwest of England. There's not a lot planned for the day other than the administration of various eye drops and all that goes with it. To keep up with events, I'll keep bobbing in to ER's through out the day.

For the benefit of GDB, Screwfix sells a product by Wago that allows you to easily join wires without soldering. This has the added advantage that joints can be made, disconnected and made again as your layout progresses. Although the cost per unit at Screwfix is fairly high, there are plenty pf suppliers on Ebay who offer the same product for less. Screwfix page:

Picture of such devices below - these two are three wire version that I use, the one on the left shows the levers up (clamps open) and the right is when closed (connection made). I tend to use these with one hole dedicated to the "line in", another to the "line out" and the third to the track dropper(s).

yep I've got a lot of those , you can get 2 and 5 wire versions as well. The 222 series power rating 400V X 32A for such a small Item 14 X 12 X 20 mm is quite amazing..

 

Having suffered many cars, including the current landrover where people have bodged things on with failing Scotchlocks. I hate Scotchlocks with a vengance..

I sent an email to the slapped #rse " I've just watched my layout go down the road in bits on a back of a lorry, it had taken me quiet some time to build and a lot of expense

all I could see was the hole it had left in the garage and the massive hole it has left in my pocket thanks a bundle" 

Still onwards and upwards with the day I'm going to see what I can find to watch on tv, yesterday was the life story of Freddie Mills the boxer who died in strange

circumstance's some say he was Jack the Stripper the serial killer.

Afternoon all,

 

Thoughts very much with John today and sorry I could say nothing earlier but as i was about to post this morning 'somebody' swiped my seat at the desk to deal with a 'phone call that took nearly al of the 40 minutes minutes I gad in hand to write a post.  Anonymous thanks also to the person who suggested the shutdown of ERs earlier today - a fitting tribute to our electronic friend on this day (some of us know who you are but I won't embarrass you for your very appropriate thought).

 

And now to yesterday - which was visit the surgery day.  i duly reported very punctually for my morning appointment with the Good Count's assistant and duly tapped-in on the system, which not only correctly acknowledged my tapping but also told me I was too early for my afternoon appointment (I knew that anyway, even I was going to sit there for 5 hours).  But the system glitched as the fact that I was there electronically didn't reach the Count's assistant and it was only because she saw me sitting there that she realised I had come to be partially drained.   Anyway that went reasonably well and the bruise isn't a big one this time and no blood was split either; the clinic rang early afternoon to officially adjust the warfarin dose to the level that I'd already reduced it three days earlier (and I got away without a telling off for doing that).

 

Then in the afternoon it was a family visit with our PPG representative (The Good Doctor) coming along to see fairplay and drive us home if I wasn't able to after the knee injection.  So Mrs Stationmaster had her's first then I had mine but our PPG representative accompanied both of our visits to the inner sanctum of doctoring.  The Doctor involved is an excellent fellow, obviously very competent and with a great sense of fun.  I was duly congratulated for being a good boy who didn't make a fuss when the needle was inserted, our PPG representative duly explaining that her mother had uttered some choice language when she'd been on the receiving end - nice to have witnesses   Mrs Stationmaster subsequently expressed the view that the colonoscopy procedure was far more pleasant than having injections in her knees,  I am not volunteering to investigate that comparison any further if I can help it.

 

Today we are avoiding the clutches of the medical fraternity and those chips were finally consumed as well as, subsequently - in my case - sautéed mushrooms and grilled bacon - an excellent pairing I find.

 

May the remainder of your day go as you would wish and I hope Mrs Rick is duly recovered from her hospital experience of yesterday

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Went to sort out a few more things for the auction this evening. Needless to say the items I was looking for were buried underneath some crates and boxes. So I set too, moved the crates and boxes found what I wanted and then put everything back. It was then that disaster struck, I caught a pile of stuff with the corner of a box and sent it all flying so I spent the rest of the afternoon picking things up. Fortunately there wasn't a lot of damage, one resin building with a chimney knocked off, chimney recovered and will be glued back when I get a round tuit. Tea to be drunk, be back later.

Good afternoon to all.  Thoughts and prayers very much with John today. Also thanks to the person, whoever it was, that suggested the thread downtime.  A good way yo remember John and Sandy.   The morning was busy as it was shoping day. So after showers, nurses visit and seeing that Paul the builder was supplied with coffee, we set off north to Chef Boutonne. Shopping was done at tbe Supermarket and the builders merchant (yet again), then coffee was had and I nipped across the road to sort out some insurance.  A hard task as the fair Laetitia, of the long legs was in. I suppose someone has to do it.

 

More logs have been chopped to size and the ash and plum trees felled a year ago are now all under cover.  The kitchen is busy as a friend is coming for tea.

We arrived at the hospital without too much parking stress.

My heart is fine. The lung shadows are not cancerous. The breathlessness is caused by damaged bronchi almost certainly from the pneumonia a couple of years ago. It is also associated with the ulcerative colitis I have had for a long time. There is some fluid in the lung (“nothing to worry about”) but an ultrasound appointment will arrive soon. I will get a respiratory physiotherapist appointment but the consultant told me what to do anyway. I don’t need to be concerned if I feel short of breath, nothing nasty will happen. I have already booked the blood test. The consultant wanted to know what antibodies for respiratory illnesses were in my body. Possibly due to many years of immunosuppressive medication. I do know I have to have the pneumonia jab repeated more than is normal. 
Aditi is rather relieved that it isn’t as serious as she thought.

Thought. If there had been silence today here and i came back and found silence, then I would have wondered where all friends had gone. Just sayin'.

 

Today went well, very well. The organisation was faultless. Except for the M6, of course which, although we didn't go on it, affected the traffic for miles around as it was closed due to a lorry fire. Friends, family, colleagues, tears and now I have to carry out the rest of Sandy's commands to me. Commands? Yes, that was Sandy.

Evening awl, 

Arrived home and it was chuckinitdarn, and in horizontal mode...  So I retreated to the house and lit the stove. I've not been down to the mobile home to visit the hippy. 

 

The evening meal has been  eaten by me with a little for Ben who seems to be unhappy and is curled up in SWMBOs chair. 

 

On reading my emails I find a prepayment card I have,  that gives discounts when used ( up to 10%),  is implementing the two stage logging in to use the card.  Unfortunately they require a mobile phone number and I don't have one.  I can't even online access the account,  but the man on the phone says, I have £ 32 on the card,  which I'll have to spend in a shop aka a big orange shed. Then bin that card .

 

Meanwhile  that prompted to read up on my real credit card ( always paid off each month)  they've sent me a card reader.

 So I insert the card into the reader and type in the pin. Press enter 

The bank via website selling, will give me a 8 digit number I type into the reader , press enter. 

The reader will give me another 8 digit number which is typed into the online website..

 

I think  this is going to be a right pain... 

 

The only reason for having a credit card, is so I don't use my bank account online ( or in shops) . The grief of having my bank hacked would be frightening..

Evenin' each,

Various taxi jobs completed successfully but yours truly is disgusted with one member of the NHS fraternity. I had to take Nicki for a hospital appointment that she'd waited 3 months for. She works at one of the most famous cancer hospitals in the country arranging appointments, assessments and beds for (obviously) seriously ill people. She is passionate about her job and frequently works extra time by missing lunch breaks and working late for no reward.  Her new boss has told her she's got to make up the time spent today at her hospital appointment. I've told her that in that case she shouldn't work the extra time but her reply was "Dad, sometimes I'm on my own in the office and there wouldn't be anybody to cover me and I can't let the patients down." She's going in tomorrow (on her afternoon off) to make up the time. Words (almost) fail me.

I returned to Kingston Hospital this morning to find SWMBO sitting up in bed but still in some pain and having been unable to keep solids down overnight. She was at least alert and talkative. 
 

So she wasn’t discharged as planned and I returned to the Hill of Strawberries with some difficulty on account of the train service being interrupted by an unfortunate incident at St. Margarets. 
 

At 2pm I got word that she was ready for discharge so another trip was made and SWMBO duly collected along with care instructions, meds and discharge paperwork.
 

The Uber driver who brought us home could not have been more careful slowing down for and largely avoiding bumps in the road. Despite objections from the black cabbies these people have always been professional in our experience. 
 

So now we are quietly at home and I am not to leave her unattended for another 24 hours. 
 

Normal service will resume.

Simply tell the new Boss that she's already made up the time - week in, week out, with no overtime pay .

And if he doesn't take the hint then tell him to go screw himself with the rough end of a Pineapple.  (I've yet to work out precisely which end is the rougher end - they both look pretty iffy to me....)

Mum and I, joined our dear John at the service of thanksgiving to celebrate Sandy's life, at the committal service and then we were warmly welcomed for refreshments with John's family and friends. 

John had put so much diligent, loving care into the day, we tangibly felt his devotion for his Sandy and it was a real privilege to be able to attend and offer a little support to a person so kind and dear and whom has selflessly supported me through many difficulties. 

......Rest peacefully, Sandy.

I was on the phone to Debs when I read this. I couldn't continue the phone call as this post affected me so much.

I was going to chat about this and that in my day, but other than to wish John, Debs, Sharon, Rick and everyone else in need my best wishes and support, there doesn't seem to be the will.

 

I suspect John will tell me off as I know he likes the activity, but ....... just a bit quiet and thoughtful this evening.
