Popular Post tigerburnie
Afternoon all, a lot of the "G" word has just been completed, much shredding(I do like playing with toys lol) and cut the flippin' grass again, we had a frost on Monday, but it seems to be still growing, finished off pulling a few carrots and parsnips to have with a roast free range chicken for dinner. I run the electricky for the tools from the old summer house, so whilst the power was on, a short running session of motorised models on parallel bits of metal took place, satisfying...………………….. 14
Popular Post Ian Abel
HUMP day <yawn> Yesterday we continued the emptying of the garage at the old place - amazing how much carp you accumulate - almost done now though!!! Interrupted nights sleep, Whitney didn't get a walk yesterday, mostly due to it p!ssing it down most of the day, so decided to get up twice in the night. Didn't "really" need to go out, but seems like she wanted to wander around the back garden for 5 minutes each time <sigh>, I could now do with a nap instead of working all day 1 and sunny first thing, expecting 7 for a high and some clouds this afternoon. Carry on... 16
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted October 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 23, 2019 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Been checking up on the Human Tissue Authority, apparently they will want all the bits, if you've had something removed they don't want you, same if you've donated any of your organs. All my bits are where they should be so thats no problem. Tea is ready to be drunk so I'll be back later. 3

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted October 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 23, 2019 Slightly less meh today. Not getting any answers to the lethargy issue is persisting me off I think - there's nowt left to check, bodily functions all in spec. I don't mind feeling 60, but feeling about 80 is getting to be a bore. Forgot to mention Ian A's family photo while I was wallowing in selfpitying mehness, what a lovely shot! 1 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted October 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 23, 2019 Evening all A cold and mostly grey day at the House of Fun enlivened by a message from SWMBO. She received an unexpected email from the university where her PhD is registered. It was suggested that her submission was two years overdue and they had no record of offering her an extension. Cue anxiety spiking to the moon and back. She messaged her Australian-based but globe-travelling supervisor who luckily is not only in Australia right now but is also in the same city as the university. She has gone into bat for SWMBO armed with tools more damaging than an awl and language bluer than a blue-tongue lizard’s. SWMBO has managed to calm herself a little and has been encouraged by myself to leave this with her supervisor and to only concern herself with what she has control over. She does have documentation clearly giving her until March next year to submit. Someone somewhere has unintentionally elevated her already severe stress level to a higher level through failure to be across the full facts of the matter. In other news - Electrostar 377 departs the House of Fun for Victoria And a hybrid Volvo waits for departure time beneath the trees at the Upper Walthamstow terminus of the 230. 5

Unfortunately I keep meeting 80 year olds with more “get up and go” than I have. Even the nicest doctors eyes glaze over if one mentions being “tired all the time”. I specifically mention what I can’t do rather than complain of general fatigue. I do remember one conversation about this with a previous GP, who said “Tony, you do realise not only are you unwell, you are taking some pretty unpleasant medication. “. However nowadays I don’t know whether how I feel is normal for someone of my age. My GP suspects it isn’t hence new blood tests and x rays recently. My routine ( 3 monthly ) full blood counts, liver function and kidney tests exclude a lot of things fortunately. Tony 3 1

Whilst I am aware that the UK voltages are nominally 230V single phase and 400V 3-phase (and that most respectable single phase power supplies have the wider range), I was not aware that temperature for calibration had increased; 20C was the norm last time I worked in a calibration lab! I guess that everything in the UK is still traceable back to the NPL in Teddington?

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted October 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 23, 2019 ! I guess that everything in the UK is still traceable back to the NPL in Teddington Shall I pop in and ask them? It’s only a stroll up the road from the Hill of Strawberries. Or a short hop on the no.33 bus if wet. Dad used to claim that the NPL people would pump some extra volts into the trolleybus overhead back in the day which would cause an unwary driver some problems. I never found out whether there was any truth in that but no smoke without fire eh? And he lived as far up the road, but in the other direction, as we do. About 80 years ago. 19
Simon G
Evening all, More work done today on painting the replastered walls. Also cut all the new skirting board to size and primed/under coated all the cut pieces. Fitting them might be tricky in places as size/space requirements mean that I had to use 15mm skirting, which is more prone to warping than thicker versions. I had hoped to use such as No More Nails to fix them, but some screwing may also be necessary. Now watching The Apprentice, which I find most amusing. Every year there appear to be some unpleasant clueless candidates, but this year they all seem to fit that description! If I were Alan Sugar, I would happily fire most of them.
Popular Post brianusa
The deck repair saga continues. It only took one man a couple of hours and the wood is off to be recycled. The other deck is yet to be undone but the new lumber arrives on Friday so that's when the noise really starts. Nice guy, he made a ramp for our cat as the ground is now about 4' below the door sill. Poor thing hasn't shown up since it all started. Brian. 2

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted October 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 23, 2019 Good evening everyone The weather has been lovely all day and my wetsuit is almost dry! More progress has been made on the new shelving, another 2 coats of varnish have been applied, tomorrow will see me turn it all over so that I can varnish the underneath of them all. In between applying the coats of varnish, I spent a bit more time in the workshop, doing a bit more tidying up and re-organising of my tools. It’s all starting to look tidy! Whilst I was doing so a large wasp appeared and started buzzing around the light fitting, so I picked up a large piece of 2 x 1 and wielding it like a cricket bat hit it across the workshop, where it bounced off the far wall and fell behind some boxes. These were moved and the offending insect was taken outside and dispatched with my size 9, just to make sure. This afternoon we had Ava, Evie and Max round for tea, spag bol was the order of the day and it didn’t stay long on the plates, I’m sure they’ve all got hollow legs, as I don’t know where they put it! Goodnight all.
