Popular Post JohnDMJ
Evening all. Just about settled after the weekend with Fareham's Rail-Ex and the 47 Charter into Bognor. Good to see Newbryford on a flying visit as well; hope it was a worthwhile trip! Forget how many years that project's been in development! Light drizzle starting to take a hold; hopefully, I'm on high enough ground! General greetings (of appropriate kind) to all. 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 7, 2019 Evening. Attended DESMOND diabetes educational course all day - it appears I have self educated with a lot of newer research than the NHS still trot out. Half of the course was worthwhile, half a load of trollop. A couple of the other attendees were left wondering just what to do to handle the condition but at least some of the action planning helped them. All a bit obvious when you have worked in management but not everyone has that background. Still talking about the outdated healthy plate stuff, my mentioning of certain research regarding low carbohydrate/healthy fat diets got black looks but a recognition later of its validity - after the others had gone. They have to deliver the course as it is, outdated or not. 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 7, 2019 Evening all. Just a hum-drum workaday Moan-day here. Nothing to see here - please move along. Many thanks for the anniversarial wishes. Other than presenting a clean tidy house, a large bunch of flowers and dinner nothing special marked the event tonight. We did that over the weekend. Thoughts with John and Sandy tonight, and those others missing or known to be under the weather. The curse of Arthur I. Tuss may be an embuggerance preventing hobby activities from occurring but in the scheme of things it's very minor compared. Off to the sleeping car now where eyelid inspection is scheduled to occur but which might be interrupted by the rhino-footed movements of certain persons upstairs. Time will tell. 14 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) Off to the Andalucian hills at 0-double-dark in the morning so a cup of cocoa and an early night. I don't think that the place where we are staying in a little hill village has wifi connection so I may be missing from ERs until the 25th or so. Mind you, at the rate posts cascade into this thread it could take another two weeks to look at what's been going on first. I hope to find you all in fine fettle when I return. It is tricky stuff. I hope that you are getting some advice from pain relief specialists. Beth has found that sometimes cocktails of different pain relievers work better than just morphine. Loved your choice of music. I'm a fan of Mike Oldfield. One of my favourites is Ommadawn which always lifts my mood as it's such happy music. RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 7, 2019 Felt carp today..no idea why but a quick eyelid inspection has brought about a major improvement. Talked to my eye doctor. He sounded concerned about the eyedrops. Another visit to see him and to check pressures again is looming as is a visit to the Diabetic eye clinic at Jimmys. In between all that I might find time to get some crusts earnt. Have a safe trip Dave. Baz

bbishop
Evening awl, An enforced absence due to a broadband outage. After some pulling and pushing of wires, decided it was caused by my BT Response 120 telephone having given up the ghost. Only 35 years old, they don't make them to last any more. The big plus was the answerphone facility , which eliminated Nigerian princes, Microhard engineers and sundry chancers hoping to disinvest me of my pension funds. Does anyone know of a relatively direct replacement? Bill 3

They keep changing the model number and facilities but they work.MiL’s one has blocking options too. You can get I think versions with between one and 4 handsets. We still have one conventional phone just in case of power cuts. 6 1

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) Good evening everyone What a day of truly mixed weather, dry, wet, dull but not really very cold. After finishing making the cake this morning I once again went downstairs and continued painting the pullout drawer. It has now had 2 topcoats applied and once it’s fully hardened will be installed under the stairs. Once the first coat was put on I was stuck for something to do so I went to the workshop and finished building the small drawers on the tool stand I built yesterday and was completed just in time for dinner. After applying the 2nd coat of paint I made a start on painting the frames of the shelving. There was no swimming tonight as the Monday evening slot has now ended, leaving just Tuesdays and Thursdays, so the plan is to go tomorrow evening for a 5 o’clock start and get back for a slightly later tea. RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 7, 2019 Evening all, Belated happy anniversary to Mr & Mrs Rick. The day (i.e. this 'puter) having been partly stolen by herself plus me researching some December timetable details for another missive to the local 'paper plus time spent in communication with various folk about various fairly obscure information concerning certain things which run on parallel strips of metal. Got there in the end and then the sudoku beckoned as a relaxation from the world of those objects making their way on said items of metallic composition. To anyone concerned about certain aspects of the GMRC all I will say is the presenters need more retakes than anybody else and if the day I attended was any guide what you see on the screen is often formed in a rather different order from the order in which it was filmed. The producer knows what he's at as do the director and his team and it's fascinating watching stuff being filmed which you o know - if it appears at all - is likely to be in a different place when it's edited into teh viewing order, fascinating stuff. RMweb Gold Popular Post Happy Hippo Posted October 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 7, 2019 A quick good morning from Hiroshima. We arrived yesterday afternoon and are off to Beppu shortly. Not much time to do much but we did visit the Peace Park. A very thought provoking experience. The view from the hotel restaurant shows the Peace Park on the left and what is known as the Atomic Dome just to the right of the river. The park was ground zero.

It was assembled on Mazda's assembly line in Hiroshima (quite well I might add). The body was designed in Italy and the engine/transmission may have come from Italy but as for the rest of it I have no clue. 8

Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all It would be really nice if simple routines were not disrupted. Every four weeks I take my prescription request form to the surgery. A week later I return, collect the prescription and trot it along the road to the pharmacy who dispense the medication. It wasn’t like that yesterday. The conversation went something like this. Me: There should be a prescription for me. Reception: Oh, it’s not here. When did you put it in? Me: A week ago. Reception: Oh [pause] It’s been sent to the pharmacy electronically. Me: Has it indeed? On whose authority? Why was I not told? To cut a long and very angry story short, I went to the pharmacy where I was handed a bag containing my meds. No-one at either the surgery or the pharmacy could explain how it had happened. I made it clear to both that I did not want it to happen again. Someone has been very high handed and if I find out who it was there will be a full and frank discussion. It appears to be time for Mental Health Awareness Week again but someone is making a mess of it. I wasn’t near the TV for much of the day – put it down to the strop with the surgery! – but the most noticeable related news item that I heard yesterday related to a shortage of psychiatrists. That is hardly the most auspicious beginning to an important campaign. I have my reasons for wanting to see increased awareness of mental health issues. No-one is immune from them and no-one should think that he or she is. Today I am with Poorly Pal during the day, when some m*d*ll*ng should get done, and the Royal Corps of Train Spotters in the evening. Yesterday I started work on the round robin letter which goes in with the seasonal greetings cards. Last year’s took ages to write because I had some explaining to do. This year the task should be more straightforward. Famous last words, anyone? Best wishes to all Chris 3

Chris, you did at least achieve what you set out to do, even if the means were unexpected. I get frustrated when my pharmacy forgets to plan ahead and contact my doctor for refills ahead of time - which is the opposite problem. It is rare that I hand them a paper Rx any more. I am headed there tomorrow to collect a recurring item, that when I asked for them to fill it on Saturday, they realized that the script had expired and would have to contact the doctor. 3

After using the last of the rum last night I delved into the drinks cabinet to see if there was any suitable distilates to go with the Lem-sips. I found a bottle of C********s ale dated 2004, a nearly full bottle of Contreau liqueur and half a bottle of Apricot Brandy. I don't know how old they are but I'm pretty sure they pre date the bottle of ale. There was also bottles of port and Martini that I may possibly have inherited from my parents and which date back to before 1980. I have a few bottles of beer, cider and wine around the house, I will have to do a booze audit though a lot of it will have to be poured away. The thing is I now drink very little if any alcohol so I will end up giving most of it away. There should be nothing wrong with the spirits, alcohol is used as a preservative (ask Nelson) , there is a pretty good chance most of the beers will be ok in these sterile produced ways... Mooring Awl Inner Temple Hare, 4 hours then dozing on the sofa, not good. Ben the "I'm scared of the Dark" Collie, is now refusing to go past half way down the garden, as it's not illuminated from the house lights... I didn't get this weeks major system yesterday, I'm promised it this morning. as it was it took nearly 5 hours to measure 5 resistors in 3 boxes, they are somewhat sensitive to people coming in to the lab. I'd have never managed it in the temporary lab. I have the same resistors to do again today and tomorrow between getting this weeks major system up and running. Much of what I ordered to refinforce the trailer hard top has arrived, I've decided to use builders banding along the sections that I need to stop the screws pulling through on, It's a galvanised plastic coated version. there are some fairly hefty angle brackets as well. the 4X 2s I'll pick up on thursday, if I need to buy some (there are some bits left over from the boat supports, but are they big enough?). I will be going right past the big orange shed on my way to visit mt sailing compatriot. Time too, stroll down to my old, but refurbished lab... 15
