My moving days are over after the last episode; couldn't face that disruption again. Why should we, the house is all ours in a nice area and as its a three BR which is just right for my wife and I so no real need to downsize. What would I do with the layout anyway? There are important things in life! We've moved (or "flitted"*) more times than I care to remember and I really don't feel up doing it again. Now I'm a bit like my dad. One of his favorite expressions was, "The only way you'll get me out of here is in a box." *I once asked my boss for the next day off because we were flitting. He had no idea what I was talking about. 21
RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 13, 2019 Monring Talking of moving, we looked at doing so 12 years ago. Was a detached bungalow that I looked at adding upstairs rooms although am uch smaller garden. Gald we didnt as its been handy being close to Mums place with her being ill a few years ago and Dads declining health till he passed away. Also I have been able to pay the mortgage off early on this place. I dont see us moving for a long time. Layout loadeed last night incase we are out tonight as brother last day here before he flies back to HK and we have an early start for the Faversham show tomorrow. Show season picks up so some busy weekends for us now.
Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all There is a meeting of the LGBT group this afternoon in a coffee bar in the High Street. I hope that some of the admins will be there as there is a burning question for them to answer. What sort of time is 10 am to meet for breakfast? It is a nice idea to put the world to rights over a full English but waiting until nearly lunchtime most certainly is not. One of the meetings is due to take place on Saturday 5th October. A 10 am breakfast that day will immediately precede opening time at the beer festival! I suppose if I say anything I will be accused of being picky. So I'm picky. Get over it. With a week to go before my short break with Bill in Prague and Berlin I need to round up the contents of my overnight bag and a few accessories such as luggage labels. If there is such a thing as a Lonely Planet guide to Prague and/or the Czech Republic, that would be a good thing to have too since I am starting from a zero knowledge base. Voyage of discovery? Look no further. Now maybe I am tempting providence but ahead of the undoubted success of what I call Prague Plus I have been toying with other ideas for a short break by rail. That wonderful website "The man in seat 61" is an endless source of ideas. Already my mind has wandered to a more interesting route in or out of Switzerland than the default setting of a night in Cologne and yet another trip along the Rhine Valley, which can become very boring very quickly. I have the ability to plan my own route and have done so in the past. When the time came, in May, to book up this year I was still recovering from the virus infection that I brought back from New Zealand. Not only was I not up to the task of planning my own route but I reacted with less than gratitude when JohnDMJ offered a helping hand. Anyway, if and when I have the cash I am torn between Oslo and Gibraltar for future short break destinations. Inspired by Harry's forthcoming holiday I did look at Athens but it takes three days to get there! This morning I need to do a quick fodder run, for I am down to my last mushroom. Fear not, I need other stuff as well. Best wishes to all Chris 20 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 13, 2019 Mooring awl Inner Temple Hare, 5 hours near solid sleep then about another hour semi dozing on the sofa, the semi dozing instead of sleep was caused by the arrival yesterday of the suspension units for the trailer rebuild. My brain kept going into different solutions for fitting them. One thing is certain there will have to be alterations to the bed which sits on the main trailer frame, as the bolts would be in the way. The other problem is going to be how to fit the mud guards.. The suspension units are heavy, once I've assembled the hubs, I'll take some measurements to cut some cardboard templates out to work out exactly where to fit the units. Deer? one in the Garden last night and I had to dodge two while driving on the way in this morning. All three Munjacs, the British variety of deer, seem normally to have better road sense than these little foreigners.. I completed the big set of shunts yesterday except for the 50A and 100A Shunts, this was because someone else was using the the current amplifier.. Hopefully that will be free this morning. So I've also started a set of 5 shunts in a box, that will be completed sometime today. MRC tonight, grass may be forced to grow with the help of high voltage electricity.. and a bag of something purple has arrived in attempt to grow a better heather.. Time to wander in the direction of that amplifier..

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, The sun is shining and having looked all around the sky is mainly blue albeit with some cloud. The Knee is aching nicely at the moment, possibly something to do with the contortions Advanced Physio Man put me through yesterday. I didn't get around to putting the new garden table together yesterday so that will be done today along with planting 3 small roses that The Boss decided to buy yesterday. It looks like the lawn needs hoovering so I may do that as well. I believe The Boss will be doing various domestic tasks today and tomorrow for our "Grand Garden Opening Ceremony." She has said my services are not required. Well, that's not quite true, what she actually said was "You swan off tomorrow to see your railway show and leave me to do everything here." It would be rude to disagree with her. Having cleared a bit of space in The Shed by removing surplus garden tools and some other junk I can now tidy up and set my mind to track planning. It's about time I hear you say and I quite agree. It is quite apparent that I will need a lot more track than I've got along with lots of wire and various other stuff. Let's hope I gain inspiration from the layouts on display tomorrow. Have a good one, 5p. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 13, 2019 Mornid. god a blocked dose for some reason. Don't feel like I have a code, just....blocked. Sunny out, unusual for my day off, and it's bike/breakfast club day - yes 10am is too late for me too Chris, but the cafe doesn't open until then! Then maybe some garage/layout time perhaps.
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) Good morning, it's sunny here and due to reach at least 29 this afternoon. Yesterday was a very good day playing with gauge 1 trains in a sunny garden. Then fish and chips in our local market square. Today Beth has completed another orbit of the sun. Various cards and presents have been opened. Even though we don't buy each other big presents any more, the diary with Monet paintings in it and white chocolate seem to have gone down well. We are shortly off out on a bike ride before it gets too warm. After that Beth is off out to a Ladies lunch so I will be a free man. Hope that Andyram is OK and warm thoughts to the other ER's in need. Jamie Edited September 13, 2019 by jamie92208 22

My Berlin guide is 1998, so is out of date, but are our plans to explore the transport system? I can pack my S-Bahn and U-Bahn monographs. RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 13, 2019 Morning, GP visited and new (additional) pills prescribed, a further visit to see Dracula's daughters will be necessary after at least 28 days on them. Back home and breakfasted - none of this 10am cafe lifestyle for me you see. We didn't get to that pale green supermarket yesterday as we had visitors who stayed over 2 hours. That retail delight awaits for sometime today, as does taking SWMBO to a musculoskeletal clinic in Welwyn but I have to be here to receive the various foreignakkers required for our trip to Croatia next week when Postie shows. Will Tigerburnie become TightLinesTurbot? I hope he does, it is a lovely eating fish that I have cooked a few times using a PadStein recipe involving straw potatoes, shallots, butter, a hint of vermouth and a little cream and chopped parsley. As for dim deer, I would agree with The Q. Most road-kill of that genre I see is Muntjak but they are less common than dead badgers, a creature it took a lot of patience and stalking to see when I was a child but now seems far more common. When it come to knees, bending of etc, I too have a knee brace but it is only a light/medium support with a few glass fibre support rods but it doesn't fit inside all my strides (and drainpipes were never my thing by the way) so I would certainly choose to wear it over the troos rather than improperly wear a men's skirt kilt. It will go under my golf trousers, which is the main reason I wear it at times. Sympathies to our suffering members and to those who hoped that England's cricketers could show a bit more resilience, bonne annee to Jamie's Beth. 16

Have you considered getting suitable threaded studs welded to your chassis? Various people can do this using a capacitor discharge unit with studs available up to M12. This would leave the top of the chassis clear so no change to your decking arrangements. 9

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 13, 2019 Good morning everyone The sun is shining and the sky is blue, with a number of white fluffy things dotted here and there. Breakfast has been consumed and my wetsuit is already out on the washing line drying in the already mentioned sunshine. Shortly I’ll be heading off to the Trafford Centre to collect a few items we cannot get or prefer to what is available locally. As is the norm, my return journey will be via the butchers where I’ll pick up the weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for dinner. No plans have yet been made for the afternoon, so one of feet up and reading and research is planned, but this may well change. Later we have James and Amelia coming round for tea. Enjoy the day, back later.

RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted September 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) Morning all, The sun is shining and more is expected over the coming few days with no rain - so the water butts had to be filled from another source. So a happy sunny birthday to Beth who will n doubt be spoilt rotten all day long by Jamie (hint). No big plans for today - his ladship currently has the dining room in use as his working from home abode but will be off to a meeting in the Cotswolds early this afternoon, apparently next week's meeting for him in Graz is now confirmed so all the BA aeroplane and OBB train Drivers had better be on their best behaviour. Perhaps a bit of G word work at some stage today but no other firm plans. Have a good day one and all and may Sandy continue with the more positive news.
