Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all Last night was too short. The enjoyable album launch at the Slaughtered Lamb ended at a sensible hour but without the CD, which despite Ben's best efforts is not yet available for sale. Thameslink provided a semi-fast train instead of the all-shacks that I was expecting and a not particularly rapid taxi got me home just before midnight. Six hours later the Today programme is trying to make sense of the news so I don't have to. I spent long enough yesterday making sense of bank statements to last me till next month. The ironing did not get done and the report did not get written. Today I must collect the pitifully small quantity of Czech currency that I ordered and ask for more, but at least I know that I can pay for it. Before Saturday I need to remind myself where in Wakefield I am going. I don't like the M1 but it seems to be better for reaching the venue than my preferred A1. My accommodation has allowed me back even though I walked off with the room key last time. Business is business, I guess. At least Wakefield is not Partington-is-such-sweet-sorrow, which must be one of the worst places ever for an exhibition. Before all that I will find a long hot wallow of great benefit. Best wishes to all Chris 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted September 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 5, 2019 Morning all from a sunny place. Some modest success was achieved with the cupboard lights. 2 shelves were completed and the switch works properly when the door is opened. I've got a lot of preparation done for the lower 4 but didn't manage to finish. However the first two are much appreciated. A lamb curry was then prepared and eaten and we had a wakk round the village. We called on some French friends and even I was able to translate the headline on their TV which was "Boris dans les cords" Anyway breakfast has been had. After a few domestic duties I am off to a friends to be taught how to line locos with a bow pen. That will at least save me from listening to the test match. Regards to all. And then it got a lot darker and the rain started, nobody was seasick! Fortunately it was a lot calmer when a little while later oneof our number - a former RN senior Navigating Officer too us out of Portsmouth on a Brittany Ferry with the Good Doctor at the helm - Fascinating place to visit and reckoned to be the best equipped simulator training suite in the UK if not Europe - we were using just one of the 6 simulator ship's budges they have. Oh and the engine room was extremely clean - Looks like a comprehensive installation. Was that formerly the Hamble School of Navigation?
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted September 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 5, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, Sunny here and a mainly blue sky so it looks like it will be a fine day. Another poor night's sleep and got up with a back ache as well as the usual Knee ache. Thursday means Sainsbury's. I'm not unhappy about this as beer supplies are dangerously low. When we return I have an appointment with my shredder. After sorting out paperwork yesterday I have amassed a rather large pile of documents that need disposing of. I cannot believe the amount of carp that I have kept. Still got more to sort as well. Didn't get to The Shed yesterday, will try again later. Have a good one and KBO, Bob. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted September 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 5, 2019 Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, A good solid 6.5 hours sleep I needed that. I got a phone call from my Sailing compatriot yesterday, he is now in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. So shortly I'm going to investigate exactly where in the hospital is the ward he is in, and where to park.. Parking there has always been a problem they never built enough. it's not cheap either.. 30 minutes up to 2 hours – £3.00 Up to 3 hours – £3.50 Up to 4 hours – £4.50 Up to 5 hours – £6.50 Up to 8 hours – £8.00 8 to 24 hours – £12.00. I think they introduced the first 30 minutes free because people were driving round and round and never finding a parking space but still getting charged. https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/health/u-turn-over-norfolk-and-norwich-university-hospital-car-parking-1-6063372 He's now another ringer of bells at airport security, his right hand and right ankle /foot are full of metal work. His right leg is plastered, and there is the odd pin sticking out.. Various other hairline cracks in his bones have been left to theirselves. He won't be able to use a walking stick when he gets mobile...ish as all the injuries are on the one side.. Well the major system is on it's last bit of the cross check run, so I'll be interpreting that shortly. Then I have to do a check on another major system which has suddenly given some odd results.. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be due northerly winds, because I can get the big Bonfire going, That direction is over a field of sugar beet this year.. That also means a none to strenuous day before heading to the Hospital.. So after discussions about my boat. I've drawn up a sail plan, that gives me the centre of effort of the sails, which has to be balanced by the centre of effort of the keel. The centre of effort of the sails should be in front of the Centre of resistance of the keel by 5 to 15 % So I'm aiming for 7 % With now having mounted the keel bearers I can finally at last do the proper drawings for the keel that I have been promising for ages.. Just waiting for the final 10 G ohm measurement of the major system... Time to... wait.. 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted September 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 5, 2019 Good morning everyone The sun is shining and is a strange grey colour. Once Sheila has finished her breakfast and left for her Zumba class I’m off to pick up some shelving which will match the shelving I already have for the office. It will need painting, but then if I’d bought it new it would anyway, but buying it second hand has saved me around £90 and I’ve got more than I need, bu there is sufficient room to put a bigger rack. Enjoy the day, back later.

(Sort of tripedal motion like those nasty things H. G. Wells dreamed up.) Ah, reminds me of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds with Richard Burton's narrative! As for tri-pedal action, I was asked to resurrect a non-pedal "balance bike" for a grand-nephew but when, earlier today, I exposed the inner wheels against which the tubes lay etc, I found the dreaded metal-munching compounds had been active for quite a while - the cost of suitable Hammerite, new inner tubes and other associated trivia is more than a new balance bike would cost therefore I await further instructions. This may be a case of KZ's pocket-money and modelling corn taking a hit. Little else to report from this part of NE(onewhohada)Herts - sun shines amid passing clouds (anyone else remember that brand of "exotic cigarette"? Many cowboys and the occasional Indian toiling noisily on the nearby site whilst local road closures continue unannounced and mean traffic mayhem. Piss, Couldn't, Up, Brewery etc, etc, etc. Let's see what later brings, and for those in pain and supporting others so, I hope it brings improvements.

We are parking next to a pulp and paper mill. The weather is wet with thunder and lightning. The storm followed the ship last night. It is expected to clear slightly soon. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted September 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 5, 2019 Morning all from Estuary-Land. A letter has just arrived in the post from a company called Bluecrest screening offering me a complete medical check up 'For the all inclusive price of £129.'. Question is why pay £129 when I can go to my GP and get it done for free? I received another letter from my credit card company asking for my mobile number, the latest of many each a bit more insistant than the last. This is despite my telling them that I do not have a mobile, though they do say that other arrangements will be made for those who like me do not have mobiles. The reason they say they require a mobile number is to confirm on-line transactions. 3 hours ago, grandadbob said: Q, I've always been told to use a walking stick on the opposite side to the injured limb. The worst affected by arthritis is my left hip, and consequently I require a walking stick except for short distances. It allways seems natural to hold the stick in my right hand. As with marching its natural to swing the arm forward opposite to the leg going forward. 10
The Lurker
Greetings from a sunny but cool LBG. My toe is still sore but a lot less painful than yesterday when I was forced to limp. Not a lot to report from Lurker Towers. This evening sees a trip to one of the local micropubs and then a curry. Tomorrow will seem a long day!
Popular Post Ian Abel
BINS day - the Mrs will have that dubious pleasure, though at the new house it's only about 30ft. to the curb instead of 60ft+ to drag them. Yesterday panic as the client finance department waved a fond farewell to the finance director and realized how much extra work THEY now have to do Mrs reporting a good day, I noticed that was the case as I started receiving a steady stream of emails, that she'd cced me on, to do with various home maintenance/move issues. She also saw the medications doc and the review of her status and the appropriate doses appear to be good progress, "tick VG". 16 and high clouds driving in, making it a pleasurable drive, no yellow orb to confuse folks, 24 for the high later. By mid-evening the advanced guard of higher winds and some rain from Dorian is expected to reach here. It'll be 100 miles offshore when it passes by but tomorrow is still expected to see very high winds and more rain. As currently forecast, most of this will begin after I'm outta here - here's hoping! Carry on...

The town's other brewery had a particularly embarrassing episode when the Works Engineer was designated to organise the annual Pensioners' Lunch and failed to get alcoholic refreshments in place .
