This morning, I rehung a door that had been taken down for painting, took apart, oiled and re-assembled a doorlock that had jammed, and went on the roof to clear gutters which were overflowing in heavy rain. I'm just finishing a late lunch and the grandkids (2 and 5)  have just arrived for the afternoon and will stay for the evening meal. We should sleep well tonight (but probably won't).

John, I cant add anything to whats already been said. As you said in the blog, try to keep busy and make the family get together as joyous an occasion as possible in the circumstances.

to limit movement.  Physiotherapy could well be a link to a video or pdf. After a similar fall and break a few years ago Aditi requested a DEXA scan. That was fine but her sister who had a fall and wrist break was diagnosed with low bone density.

Jill's fracture is in the upper arm Tony so apart from a cast or a sling there isn't much that can be done and the consultant from the IoM said that they weren't necessary, just to limit movement and/or strain as a reaction to what causes pain. Jill said just cooking, cleaning, ironing...........

Good evening everyone 

 

This morning’s visit to ‘The Christie’ went very well, despite the fact that the system wasn’t working well and quite a few people, me among them, were missed of the list. Consequently, I wasn’t seen until after 11.00, we’ll over 90 minutes after the time of my original appointment. When I was finally seen, the team were very apologetic and put it down to old chestnut of a new IT system, which meant that everyone who had an appointment between 10 and 11 were missed of the list, it was only when I asked if they were running late that the problem was noticed.

 

Anyway, the consultation went well and the net result is that my PSA had actually come down a little bit, it’s now 5.16 instead of last month’s 5.5. So the plan is that they will not do any invasive tests, but instead they plan to monitor my PSA levels. But this time it will be every 3 months for the next 2 years or so. This is to gauge what my natural PSA level should be and to catch anything untoward early, if there is a significant rise, ie. if my PSA goes between 10 and 15. If/when it does reach that level, that is when they will start carrying out further tests scans etc to see why. So until then I just carry on as normal. 

 

I now have my next 2 appointments for November, they are a week apart and the first is for a blood test and the second for my next consultation to discuss the blood test. 

 

We’re both a little relieved but to be honest, it is what I was expecting and I do think that monitoring the situation and not doing anything invasive is probably the best thing for me at the moment.

 

By the time the consultation had finished and we’d walked back to the car and driven home, it was dinner time. After dinner we didn’t do an awful lot as we were having Ava, Evie and Max round for tea so we both sat and read until they got here. Tonight’s tea was spaghetti and meatballs, followed by ice lollies, so it was fairly easy meal to do. After tea they all sat down and watched a film, when they weren’t jumping about. They were all a bit hyper, due to the fact that they all fly out to Lanzarote  on Friday, which they are all looking forward to, so next Wednesday will be very quiet.

Good morning one and all

 

Some genius decided that one lane would suffice on the northbound carriageway of the M1 at Junction 10 last night.  That is why it took me 1 hour 45 minutes to get home after Area Group in Harpenden.  This follows a different hour that could have been better spent than buying an advance ticket between Cogan and Cardiff Queen Street for the day after tomorrow.  TfW now know that their webshite is rubbish.

 

This morning at 10 am I am due to change my car.  The new one will also be white.  I seem to have lost the spare key for the outgoing Polo so I suppose I had better look for it.  One thing I did find with very little effort is a walking stick, as back-up for Saturday and my proud march through Cardiff city centre and upwards of 15,000 other people.

Good morning all,

Blue sky and sunshine here and a dry, fine and warm day is promised.

Mark (the landscaper) turned up as promised yesterday with one of his men and we went over what needed doing. A couple of small changes made, one at his suggestion and one by me. G (Garden) day will now be Saturday instead of Friday but they will be here Bank Holiday Monday to compensate.

Managed to get a bit more done in the shed so just one more small board and the flap to fit.  Some minor adjustment needs to be made as I seem to have made the board slightly too long! Hope I can get this done today and then at last I can turn my attention to track planning and laying. Don't want anything too complicated, just want to see trains running again.

I'm not terribly surprised. MrsID and I had our honeymoon in Seefeld a little while ago at this time of year. I have an idea that I'd like to ski there one day but I suspect I'm probably kidding myself, but you never know.

Bright and fairly still here too this morning although the usual level of smog is visible as one would expect between two airports, two motorways and not too far from the metropolis. We are off to the old place again shortly, me to engage in the dreaded g word and her to visit the optician again, this time for a general sight check-up rather than anything specifically related to contact lenses.

 

Hope the trend continues in respect of your PSA Brian. What no Rainbow VW Chrisf, just say it was sold to you as keyless. Quayside steps each individually filed to indicate wear? I'll be glad that mine even look like a quayside when I manage to make them - sounds grand, please share. I'm sure Sutton's Finest will be a somewhat happier person once voluptuous models are gloriously displayed in the privacy of his new cave.

(Notice that next yeat 6 tests are scheduled. 2 at Lords..hopefully they might get the square playable, 1 at the Oval, 1 at Trent Bridge and 1 at  Edgbaston.  And 75% of all cricket in the UK is played in the North)

Mooring Awl Inner Temple hare..

Sleep what's that? a though leapt into my mind just as I was dozing off, hence it got all excited and kept me awake for 4 hours after I'd normally drop off. Even than it was just doze, think about it, turn over and doze..  If I stay away all day It will be a miracle..

 

The Thought?  A solution to modifying the trailer for the new version of the boat that not only lightens the trailer but makes it more suitable for it's purpose.  It helps the landrover 110 tow hitch nose weight is 150Kg (interestingly 250Kg in the USA and Austraila from what I can find) so I can put the boat on further forward..

The trailer has a heavy flat bed bolted on top for the old launching trolley. All my previous versions used that flat bed in some way, this will now be removed, and replaced by 4 bits of U channel. The centre one, U upwards, a recepticle for the keel, and just the length of the A frame of the trailer. The outer pair U pointing outwards and extending aft by around 4 ft to carry hull supports and lighting bar.. The fourth bit of U channel will tie the ends of the extensions together..

 

 A tape measure is likely to be deployed when I get home...

 

I,m measuring current shunts at the moment and just about to set the 2 Amp one to warm up, this ahs a 20 minute worm up time..

 

Time to... go cost the expected bits of U channel, and do some arithmatic on how much further forward the boat can go weight wise..

It’s a bit of a grey start to the day, it’s not raining at the moment but it is predicted for later on. Once Sheila has got herself ready and left for her Zumba class I’ll head back downstairs and continue working on the cellar stairs. Once they’ve had a quick wipe off I’ll make a start undercoating them and all the other associated woodwork. Hopefully I’ll be able to give it all at least one coat today, although there is a lot of it, if I include the door between the two cellar rooms and the new storage space door.

A correction to my last post. Apparently a sling is a good idea for Jill's arm so one of my tasks for today is obtaining one. The next one is to rearrange the conservatory for her bridge afternoon with some friends. Apart from that I hope to get some work done on the book I'm writing about the new build Patriot.

Morning All 

Bright and sunny here 

I was up in the early hours with a bout of vertigo I'm sure it was bought on by all the stress of yesterday slapped #rse went into shock and turned pale when we were told the house had been sold thank #### that's happened it was like having a noose around my neck which kept putting me in Her firing range, her texted an hour later to say what needs doing now it had all been arranged by then, my new home has been purchased 2 bedroom flat which has secure phone entry so Her can't just bang on the front door, now it's a slog to get the house and garage empty of junk as her wants non of the furniture but I can't take it all I'm there Tuesday to do a detailed measure up to see what I can fit in.

There is no chain with the 2 properties so hopefully no hold up the agent said 8 weeks max I feel a lot happier now, I've a new girl friend   as well so I might will get some TLC this week end as well.

How typical, an umpire who cannot count to six.  You have missed out the Pakistani Test at Manchester.  So all the major grounds get at least one Test .....

 

Probably today is my last game at Lord's this season , discounting the slight possibility of a T20 quarter final; which could be interesting as they start to demolish the Compton and Edrich stands tomorrow!

Greetings all from the boring borough. Another fun filled exciting day to report. Fork all happening. 

Thoroughly p!ssed off at the twatwaffles I supposedly work with. My work travel to Berlin next week has been totally fusterclucked with the booking agency coming back to me directly wanting an extra €225 for hotel costs. 2 words came to mind. The second being "off".  Of course they did this an  hour after confirming the flight and sending me the boarding pass.

Wet and windy - I shall say no more.  

 

Yesterday, we eventually got out after the delay of the early delivery of wood so we got to West Shore a bit late - one of the members was bringing his newly completed handbuilt, all lined out Lanky 0-6-0 Lancashire & Yorkshire engine for a photo shoot but by the time we arrived it was back under cover out of the intermittent rain.  No.1079 was allocated to Bangor in 1948 and to Rhyl in 1957 until withdrawal in 1962.  Gorgeous! We hope to see it steamed up soon.

 

 

Notice the hydrostatic lubricator on the right of the cab - not part of the original but added for 5" gauge running!

 

Next, we spent the afternoon on the 7 1/4" gauge Conwy Valley Railway (CVR)* and I took my first passenger load round the 5/6th mile track driving the diesel, "Gwydir Castle", and I got more than I bargained for...

"Tradition" has it that if a train (currently a 2-car DMU run by Transport for Wales) arrives in the adjacent station (Betws-y-coed),** the driver sounds the whistle/horn.  Timing for this is crucial and you cannot guarantee one of our trains being alongside the mainline at the right moment (the steam train - Driver Ray - was unseen behind the wall of the covered drop-off platform).  What anticipation followed when I saw the train standing in the platform as I came out of the forest... and saw its white light brightly shining before me!

"C'mon! C'mon! Move!" I found myself muttering...

Y e s!  "Toot, toot," I sounded as it slowly moved off...and what a wonderful exchange of horns we shared after that...it delighted the passengers and it sure delighted me! 

* The CVR is on the site of the old goods yard.

** On the Conwy Valley Line from Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog

Up to now I have just built the sidewalls for the steps to the correct height.

This morning I actually counted the number of steps. 39.  Hmmm.
