RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted August 1, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 1, 2019 Good evening everyone The sun shone for most of the day, but as we’d had a lot of rain over the last few days, it was far too wet to do any sort of garden work. Throughout the day it looked like it would chuckinitdarn at any moment and finally the rain came about 3:30 this afternoon. It was a very short, but heavy shower and a lot of water fell in a very short time. Isn’t it amazing what you find when your not looking for it? I was looking for some decorative beading in my wood store and found something that would be ideal for the spindles, unfortunately there wasn’t quite enough. I found enough to make 8 of the 10 spindles, so I’ll still have to buy some more wood, just not as much as I initially thought I’d need. After tea and a short rest I went to Salford Quays for another swim. Like Monday, the water was cool when I first got in, but I soon got used to it and managed this year’s first sub 40 minute mile, completing the distance in just under 39 minutes. It started to rain again as walked to the car park, but thankfully it wasn’t heavy this time. Once home and I put my bag I poured then myself a bottle of Doombar to celebrate. Thoughts for all those living in and around Whaley Bridge. It’s a place I know well, having worked a lot in and around the area. Goodnight all.

They commute between the landfill and the lake. The eagles hang out at the landfill too but they don't go after the gulls. The eagles seem to prefer carrion and fish. When I was still working, at certain times in the year I would be going out to work about the time the birds were waking up and going about the day's activities. The gulls would be flying northeast to southwest, from the inlet where they had spent the night to the landfill where they would forage. At a higher altitude, the crows would be flying southwest to northeast, from the rookeries where they had slept to the woods and shores of the inlet where they found their food. I couldn't help thinking they should get together, sort things out and, collectively, save a lot of energy. 17

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 2, 2019 Morning all. The visitors have arrived. The severely autustic daughter is no trouble. The wjfe is Beth's very good friend but the husband is a pain. He's miserable and mopes around.and says very little apart from moaning. I suspect that I will spend quite a bit of time in the shed to avoid committing homicide of one sort or another. Anyway, some muddling got done yesterday alo g with some domestic tasks. Not a lot on the agenda today apart from a trip to try and find the necessary plumbing supplies for the tap in the shed. If I'm unlucky I'll have the silent t*rd for company. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 2, 2019 Mooring Awl, Inner temple Hare, 5 hours sleep plus half an hour dozing on the sofa with a long gap in the middle.. Ben the Border Collie found Kerrys rabbits, and went chasing down the garden after them.. Them having a head start he didn't catch up before they legged it out of the garden into the fields. Whereupon Ben stopped.. It was drizzling when we went out there, , so he didn't stay out long. On leaving the driveway I did about a hundred yards, the road suddenly went from mildly damp, to soaking wet, further on it went to deep puddles. We'd obviously had a near miss with some heavy rain.. By the time I was at Effin clown town it was dry again.. The initial cross check on the second major system went well, the results so far look good. That has now to be put on the other system to get accurate cross check results... I won't be here Monday so the Boss will have to do it... oh Dear how sad.. So todays work is one 100Amp shunt, so about an hours work, this will be followed by computer paper work, for the set it came from, for another hour, after that it's lab clearing. I'm already typing at my out of lab desk, with a large number of shunts and resistors one side and a stack of 4 very expensive reference DMMs the other. By the time I've finished today there will be barely room to get to my desk.. More importantly It's the start of Regatta week tomorrow... Yippee... Time to.. Check the company Spam..

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 2, 2019 Morning. No bike club, off for a diabolical eye test. Usual optician though, which is no pain whatsoever as she is a most pleasant Irish girl easy on the eye and very thorough. I see her regularly anyway to to another eye condition which needs regular observation but in more recent years has remained static. To those of a diabolical condition, new HbA1c was 41, so diet and weight loss (a stone in 7 weeks) has moved me into non-diabetic territory, but the diet is very strict low carbs. Not keto though, but hell is it boring. 2

RMweb Gold 81C Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2019 (edited) Morning All Spent the evening knee deep in a bathroom full of water, I went to have a better look at a leaking Loo touch the plastic pipe work and it came away in my hand, spent the rest of the evening repairing the damage and tidying up. I've a ceiling to repair when it dries out the things you do for love. Stick with the diet Neal I've been naughty with the food last week end after loosing a stone and gained 2 Ib but managed to lose it again this week . Finances and food shopping today must get on P. RMweb Gold Popular Post Kingzance Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 2, 2019 (edited) Mawningawl, A couple of days away staying with friends we hadn't seen for almost a year and who live on the edge of the New Forest meant I was only dipping in and out. The outward journey of a little over 110 miles was conducted at an average speed of 48mph but we only managed 32mph returning, with a noticeable decrease in fuel economy on the way back! Warm with sunny intervals but generally overcast weather throughout the stay, I wandered along a nearby seashore and spotted this bird which I now think is a Ruddy Turnstone. If my identification is correct, it allows me to use a word my Grandma would have chided me for. I had hoped that the bird was a plover as they live in a street called Plover Road and I was going to produce this for them as an acrylic wall print but, as it is more likely to be the Ruddy Turnstone, it wouldn't be appropriate. There were gulls all around but not at any great density and certainly not attempting to remove anything I had in my hands, perhaps because there was nothing bright or of a foodie nature. The second photo gives and idea of the weather conditions generally present - a far cry from the issues facing those in the Peak District. In sunshine the image would have had a lot more impact but that wasn't to be this time. The light pollution from Bournemouth & Poole sadly destroys any decent chance of capturing the Milky Way there too, even if the skies were clear. Best wishes to members celebrating or visiting special events. Our next few days may be somewhat frantic as potential buyers for our old house have found a buyer for theirs and so suddenly things are moving and I will need to ensure everything is in best condition for their mortgage surveyor's visit on Monday. If the sale goes ahead this time, I will be a very happy person after more than 15 months of having two places, with all the attendant maintenance, service and hidden costs. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 2, 2019 Good morning everyone The sun is shining and although we had rain overnight it’s almost dry out there. Breakfast has been consumed and shortly I’ll be heading off to the Trafford Centre for a few bits and pieces that we can’t get locally. My return journey will be via the butchers where I’ll pick up the weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for dinner. There are are no plans for the rest of the day, Friday is generally a relaxing day, but it doesn’t always work out that way. Enjoy the day, back later
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 2, 2019 Morning all from Estuary-Land. I thought I'd re-taxed the car but I didn't receive any notification and on checking my bank statement which arrived yesterday there was no sign of a deduction. I went to check on the DVLA site and its down so I don't know if the car is taxed or not, I'll have to try later. 1

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2019 Morning all, Well the joint diabolical interview went pretty well although my number this time round was 52 - but nit regarded as bad and keep taking the pill. (I take one a day, Mrs Stationmaster takes 4; I don't eat chocolate, she does). plus a carry on losing a bit of weight please. So after that session we duly visited the Colombian/Polish 'Italian' cafê where I consumed a 'full English' - albeit a not very full one with only one rasher and a small sausage, not large egg and lots of baked beans and some mushrooms, oh and Toad In the Hole for dinner last night. So my dieting is not in the same league as NHN's but it does work and will be entered into more serious mode following an upcoming week on the briny. Not so wonderful was a new lot of staining on the kitchen ceiling indicating yet another leak of water upstairs - in teh bathroom this time. I think I have traced it and yet again it is the breakdown of sealant - in this case round the bath but it will also mean somehow trying to get the bottom upstand off the vanity unit under the wash basin as it is at the back of that unit where the water has gone looking for a way through the floor (and the bl**dy thing won't move!!). Mrs Stationmaster is a far from happy bunny in consequence. Meanwhile the road is full of removal vans, or feels that way, as the neighbours over the road are moving back in as his job at the uni in Edinburgh will mainly be able to be done by remote control from next term. They've decided they need to be back in residence as they've definitely decided to move at some date in the future so need to re-establish their residency for a few years to avoid CGT. Have a good day one and all 9
