Good morning everyone 

 

It’s a sunny start to the day, the lesser spotted bin men have emptied one of the two bins I left out last night, I’ll retrieve that in a few minutes, I’ll get the other one when it’s been emptied. 

 

Breakfast has been consumed and I’ll shortly make a start on getting things ready for Ian when he comes round in about 30 minutes. I’ve always liked music that isn’t in the main stream, I think it makes us all unique.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Nothing much is going to get done here today as my sciatica is back with a vengeance. The only way to ease it is to lay flat for a couple of hours so thats what I will be doing shortly.

Very late start today; nothing to do with the level in the Tullamore Dew bottle dropping quite a lot last night - that was due to evaporation. So far I've managed to wish our friend happy birthday and consume two huge mugsocoffee along with some blotting paper cereal. Off out shortly but I don't yet know where as such things are above my pay grade; no doubt I will be informed in due course. Mind you, I was part of last night's discussion that resulted in the decision to spend a fair bit of October at friend's place in Spain.

I think that we need to "do something" about Mr ChrisF, not only was he responsible for one of the worst "drive-by punnings" this thread has ever seen (I still have several ERs in therapy - scarred for life, they are), but now he is actively assualting our optic nerves and cortex with a pair of boots the colours of which - I suspect - have been banned by international treaty. Let's face, it such colours have never been before encountered in nature and are likely to frighten the horses. Red, Yellow, Green, Orange, Purple, Blue are all splendid colours (well, maybe not purple), but in such luminescent tints???. I reckon you'd have to slap a Glastonbury amount of mud on those boots to tone them down. But, as they say, each to their own.

 

But what do these colours tell us about ChrisF? In brief...

 

Red: is the colour of energy, passion, action, ambition and determination. It is also the colour of anger and sexual passion.

Yellow: is the colour of the mind and the intellect. It is optimistic and cheerful. However it can also suggest impatience, criticism and cowardice

Green: can mean both self-reliance as a positive and possessiveness as a negative

Orange: is the colour of social communication and optimism. From a negative colour meaning it is also a sign of pessimism and superficiality.

Purple: is the colour of the imagination. It can be creative and individual or immature and impractical

Blue: is the colour of trust and peace. It can suggest loyalty and integrity as well as conservatism and frigidity

 

So, if we are using colours to describe ChrisF in positive terms (a positivity which he richly deserves), then we could say he is energetic, mindful, self-reliant, optimistic, creative and loyal. If, on the other hand, we wish to be churlish and uncharitable; then we could describe him as angry, impatient, possessive, pessimistic, impratical and conservative (although I have seen him cycle through some of such emotions when the real ale runs out at a CAMRA compliant bar )

 

On the other hand, being more versed in the  "hard" as opposed to the "soft" sciences, I think that much of what is said about colours is pure bunkum, or if not pure bunkum then seriously stretching the interpretation of psychological data (e.g. https://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/colour-of-sex.html).

p.s. currently hors de combat due to a very bad muscle spasm in the L3-L5 region. Thank God for systemic and topical diclofenac. Will now go and don some magenta clothes to help my healing progress...

Back again having rested my back but the sciatica now making itself known again. I did take a couple of paracetamols this morning not realising I had any Ibuprofen in stock. I have now discovered a packet at the back of the medicine cupboard and a couple are about to be taken.

Gp'day all,

 

I erroneously got up an hour earlier than normal but that still mean t i wasn't alert enough to get the car parked out in the road and t ruin the day of one of the Regatta freeloaders who has parked opposite my gate so he/she has more money to spend on Pimms and grub while taking no notice at all of the racing.  I shall have to take care not to reverse into it when going out - I don't want to damage my car obviously.  Tomorrow it looks like 'park early' we will be the motto of the day.

 

The dustmen were also round early, a habit theyve acquired in recent months although this week it would be much more amusing if they went back to their habit of arriving after the schools have kicked out rather than before they've opened.  anyway we'll be off for a quick Tesco visit shortly and then the Good Doctor needs to get out as well as she's heading for RDA as her post Euro-tour deafness has more or less cleared up so she's out of excuses.   French visitors due to arrive later - how the heck does a house full of adults amuse a 190 year old French girl I wonder.  Hope she speaks English as neither of our offspring speak French!

 

His ladship is supposedly back at whatever time tonight after attending a meeting in Graz - an acceptable venue as far as he was concerned as he had to do part of the journey by train because in his view the nearest suitable airport is Vienna.  alright for some.

HUMP day - well NOT actually, it's POETS where the "T" means Thursday this week, it being July 4th. and a holiday over here  I'm taking Friday off giving me FOUR WHOLE DAYS off  Seems it's not worth working Friday as most of the Long Island client staff are taking advantage of a 4 day weekend also.

Of course that means the entire four days will be free time for me to relax and do whatever I want, right??!!??

 

Yesterday early evening we went to see "Rocketman", and was an extremely enjoyable movie IMHO a good representation of the life/travails of Elton.

Following that had a great dinner at a local eatery "Betty Dangers Country Club". Betty is a long time local restaurateur with several very nice places to enjoy a variety of fare.

The "Country Club" was created by her after her application was turned down for one of the local (snooty) country clubs. She decided she'd create her own

Great food, wild variety of drinks including some excellent local brews, AND a Ferris Wheel on the property, a leisurely 5 circuits ride after dinner.

 

17 and sunny first thing, humidity down considerably. Expecting a pleasant day with highs around 30, partly sunny and lower humidity again.

I had the joy of a business trip to Birmingham this morning in order to visit the BSA (Guns) factory.

 

As we got to the southbound junction where the M6 and the M5 split, there was what is politely referred to as a car park.

 

This eventually became a slow moving mass which went as far as the next junction (M6/A34), here we were advised by the overhead signs to get into lane one as the three other lanes were closed.

 

Having got into single file, we travelled for about a further mile when suddenly all the lanes were miraculously open again.

 

I saw no police, highway officers or any sign of an accident.  I wonder if it was the control room playing a cruel jape on the long suffering motorist?

 

Still it whiled away 56 minutes!

 

As usual, BSA were pleased to see me, and the trip back to Telfland was achieved in less time than I had been standing in the traffic queue.

 

The better news is the  nice Yodel lady has just delivered a pack of 16 ER 25 colletts for the milling machine.

 

I need to go and try them out.

 

However, being civilised I shall partake of some tea and cake first.

Had another day with the little big dog today, tomorrow I will be with a different dog, Her is here to declutter all the bl00dy nic- nacks she scattered around the house

it looked like a junk shop here Monday and we are trying to sell the place she said I had dressed the house yes with carp she's got the message to come and clear it

tomorrow or it goes in the bin.

 Not sure about food today I might dine out Al Fresco 

.

Afternoon awl,  

The first two sections of reruns went well, after that nothing went well,  5 hours later or just a half hour before home time, I found out why,  a duff test cable, electrically it checked out, but was down to a couple wires out of 19. With the accuracy we need it was changing the results  ..

 

Meanwhile the builders were hammering and drilling  away, boxing in the steel Beam,  later sorting out the trench in the floor between the lab and there boiler room. That's now filled with concrete. 

 

Leaving work the roads were chaos,  it took ages to get to the orange shed,  I was in and out in minutes,  but strangely the roads were now fairly clear,  and it was an easy drive home. 

 

The gunnel rubber fendering for the boat has arrived, it looks good. Although it won't be fitted for some time,  I need to mark out the hull / deck join to allow for it...

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The Ibuprofen is proving a bit more effective than Paracetamol, and yes I did take them with a couple of biscuits. Sorted out a few items for the club sales stand, among them in a box of old diecast toys is an intriguing model. Its a diecast domestic garage about the same size, shape and proportions as the Matchbox accessory pack one. Other than that it differs in style and construction but I would like to find out who made it.

Probably just an example of "traffic memory". When there's a steady flow of traffic it slows at an accident and continues to slow down at that place long after the evidence of the accident is removed.
