RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 28, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, Sunshine and some blue sky. The clouds should disappear and a fine, dry and breezy day is forecast. Some track laid, a very simple plan for now. Loco tried out and it all worked fine on DC. Changed to DCC and initially all worked and then I fried a chip. Bent 2 pins getting the thing out but managed to straighten them up. Changed back to DC and all worked again with no problems. Will try another loco and chip today. Might need to get some fish if it continues. First task though is to go to Sainsbury's and then up to the loft to rescue a couple of fans in case they are needed for tomorrow's possible "heatwave." Have a good one, F.R. Yingtoday. RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2019 Morning all. Forecast to be warm today. We may just sit in the shade and watch the world go by. Tony
RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2019 The day started overcast and it remains so as CowboysRUs continue practicing how to build homes. I have just been told I have to attend a film showing in the Village Hall this evening because she “thought I would like to see it”. Severe grumps and fast door closings are now being acted out by her because I indicated that I was not in favour. Plenty to do as indicated last evening, I may dip in occasionally during the day but clearly I have to work around a 3-hour block this evening. 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 28, 2019 Morning all, Up early this a.m as the lad announced that he had found the cat, deceased, lying on the bathroom floor. looks as if it was a peaceful death and he's had a good innings notwithstanding being stone deaf and suffering kidney problems and at least we have been able to start grave digging before the day has got too hot but it will have to be brick lined and have slabs on in order to stop Mr Fox finding himself a meal. Good job the Good Doctor was home in time to help with the digging and renew friendship with the cat before he went. Apparently it's something of an unusual event for a cat to die naturally of age related things and I have to say its considerablty better than what we've had to do for others in the past; still not nice of course but the natural way is no doubt better. Back shortly to interment duties hoping to finish before it gets too hot out there. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 28, 2019 Good morning everyone The sun is shining and the sky is blue, so I’ve put my wetsuit on the washing line to dry in the sunshine. My next task will be to call at the Trafford Centre for the things we can’t buy at Sainsbury’s, my return trip will take me to the butchers where I will pick up the weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for my dinner. After that I’ve got no plans, so I’m hoping for a restful afternoon, but Sheila may well change that. Mike. Sorry to read about the cat. Enjoy the day, back later. 17 3

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 28, 2019 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Sorry to hear about the cat Mick. Mention of fans reminded me that I have a fan that only needs dusting off. I hadn't thought of it despite said fan being in full view as I type. I will probably stay at home tomorrow as the roads will almost certainly be chocker. Still no E-mail so I will have to get on to Virgin shortly. Thats it for now, be back later. 15

Actually The Knee doesn't like anything at the moment. Still no bl##dy X-ray results! RMweb Gold 81C Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2019 Morning All First break of the week Her has arrived and is tidying the outside I wont be doing anything I'm shattered after 3 weeks non stop working, there is still more to pack the locos are being boxed so more time and care will be applied to them. I must sort out a solicitor says her for the divorce it can't be done I can't hear all of a sudden she wants one I wonder what her motive is to make it so quick. GDB don't forget the PPE before doing anything suggest you strap that knee with a bandage to avoid more damage to it. Anyway better get on before I fall asleep.F.Eelingdozy 2
The Lurker
Greetings all from a sunny LBG. Sorry to hear that Mike's feline friend has departed. Not a lot to report here, the weekend beckons and there are no major plans that I have been informed of. Have a good weekend all 12

On the one hand, communicating through solicitors prevents continual confrontation. On the other hand, the solicitors make money out of it. In my experience, the solicitors gave me good advice, particularly about what I could do with anything of the first Mrs Lurker's that remained in the FMH (once the property order had come through, anything I liked). They did however cock up some of the paperwork which has meant that getting access to all of the cash from the old endowment has proved nearly impossible - never mind thinking about a mis-selling claim 1
RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2019 Commiserations to the Stationmaster’s household on the cat’s death. We don’t have pets as SWMBO is intolerant of other creatures (probably including me) but I do like them and, judging from local pets, they seem to like me. I do like the description of the lasting underground mausoleum. As I have said before to 81c, a solicitor may be an expense but will be on your side protecting you, your assets and your future. I haven’t been able to locate a suitable threaded bush for the sacrificial anode in daughter’s hot water cylinder yet so may need one specially machined for me. Enjoy the weather (if you can), back later. 14
Popular Post AndrewC
Afternoon all. Feel like killing a large number of tw@twaffles at the moment. Came close to walking out of a meeting yesterday. I know I've said it before but time to start looking for another employer again. This is going downhill faster than the gold medal winning Bobsled team. To top my week de merde off I managed to pop my knee out this morning. Call the quack, nothing available, go to urgent care. Well that was most of my day taken with nothing more than a quick look, bit of a twist, and a prescription for more Naproxen & Tramadol. I could have saved 4 1/2 hours by going into the medicine cabinet where I have a stock of them. Feck. This has also put paid to my evening out with a bunch of ex-coworkers tonight, tomorrow's operating stint with Mr Roundhouse in Braintree, and travelling to Plymouth on Sunday to attend my cousin's funeral. I must have accidentally piddled into some deity's cornflakes to get this much bad karma in a short time. Enjoy your day. I can't wait for mine to end.
Popular Post Ian Abel
POETS - a given today, explanation below... Mike, sorry to hear about your cat, RIP. Four legged family members are an important part of the human experience IMHO. Yesterday, NADA really, a couple more frantic changes to monthly financial statements, that's it. Today, will POE so we can get to a before event dinner in Minneapolis, a new restaurant chosen by the Mrs, then off to see Bob Newhart (yes, STILL ALIVE, as noted before) as part of the Mrs birthday celebrations. Quiet weekend (FAT CHANCE!!), tomorrow we apparently have the Tree Doctors showing up to discuss plans for tree trimming at BOTH places. That, followed by me off to shop for the dinner ingredients for Mrs birthday BBQ. Family BBQ late afternoon. Sunday, that should be quiet, so we'll see how quickly that plan manages to head south 20 already at 7AM, partly sunny and supposed to start pushing low to mid 30s for highs all weekend. One thing I AM grateful for is that since this is common over here we do at least have A/C unlike many of you folks in European areas. Makes it survivable for sure. Tally ho, POETS soon. 20

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 28, 2019 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Checked with Virgin Media again about not being able to open E-mails. Apparently it is a local problem and they expect to get it fixed by 12 on Sunday, so here's fingers crossed. Only thing is I expect to have a lot of junk e-mail to wade through. Going to make the most of the hot weather tomorrow by doing a lot of washing, it wont take long to dry in tomorrows heat. Thats it for now, be back later. 10

Lots of shade outside with appropriate trees and full air con inside. It is an American hotel and most of the guests seem to be from the US. Quite a lot are here from pre and post Viking river cruises. Tony
RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 28, 2019 Afternoon all, Well work was finished by just after 11.00 so we've missed the worst of the heat. Simba (no, we didn't name him and the funny little chap was in no way like a lion, king or otherwise) is safely interred next to his brother in a brick lined grave with slabs on top (the picture only shows the top layer of slabs) and plenty of flints around which although decorative are also there to discourage attention from Mr Fox; there are also some buried flints just in case Mr Fox starts digging from the side. The pic below - carefully angled to hide most of the jungle behind their resting place - has Simba's grave under the left hand pot of lavender and his brother Sammy, who went some time back after a week of illness, under the right hand pot. Once interment and site finishing was complete we adjourned to the kitchen for a cuppa and to deal with Mrs Stationmaster's much appreciated offer to lay on a nice brunch for the three of us. Good to have a proper job breakfast/brunch for once although the reason for our labours and subsequent meal was of course not at all welcome. More memories to add to those of our past family cats past, Simba is the sixth to be interred in our garden - they go back nearly 50 years in the lives of the family. Enjoy the rest of your day folks and don't spend too long in the sun. 4

RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted June 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 28, 2019 Evening from a warm but still breezy Surrey. Spent the morning in the shed sorting out a few locos for tomorrows show. Now only me and another plus my other half, so its going to be hectic setting up and operating although Fort Myers isn't too bad as we will just do one operator on and other half can help in the fiddleyard. If it was one of the N scale layouts we would probably have to pull out as we wouldn't be able to set up in time. Luckily last show till September after the summer holidays are over. The extra table turned up this afternoon so its now set up with just a small infill piece required between the two. A shelf for the centre speaker has also been made and the other speaker cables put into mini trunking. The shed isn't far off completion ready for modelling to properly recommence. The new 009 layout should start soon. Layout to load this evening ready for an early start tomorrow.
