Good to know...maybe a road trip is in order, however, given the sort of "traffic" that abounds here in the summer/lake cabin season, it's likely to be a real pain getting there as the road north to Duluth is not exactly "the road less travelled"! 4
RMweb Gold Popular Post 81C Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 14, 2019 Afternoon All I was up with the Lark and had to get straight out for house viewing appointments I can't get this sorted quick enough One agent said what is the rush I said you haven't' seen what I've escaped from another one could not believe how old I was (68 this year) as you have to be 65+ for the property it's a waiting for god estate absolutely fantastic with a those gummy old ladies the apartment I viewed still stank of pork I wondered why all the windows were wide open. Yesterday HER decided the car was hers it is now sitting on the drive outside and both sets of keys are in my possession I just picked her set up off the table and remove the car key the rest was history . I spoke to my eldest daughter today she is still upset it's happened she couldn't believe her mother would be so cruel l said that was nothing new I'm surprised she didn't dye her hair black and white. I'm going back to work once the move is underway a chap I know wants a quality painter I said I'll give it a go he nearly shook my hand off as I've done work for him before and I've secured a hand rail and spindles job all in oak at a good price, the railway has been put on hold till the bad weather arrives with lots to do it will keep my mind off recent events. BTW I went A over B just now in Horrorsons, she must have been at least a 46GG stacked into a tight white almost see through sweater Must get on enjoy the rest of the day Mr. Happy 4

Popular Post Ian Abel
Morning, POETS and as I've almost done the allowed 40-hours I'll definitely be POEing Several unrelated items for general amusement, and to allow me to spout off/ramble this fine morning; 1) Yesterday several "key" players at the Long Island client decided it was a fine day to take off, leaving me with a fair amount of thumb twiddling to while away the time until I left for the airport - another "strike" for why health care is expensive here! 2) Was concerned I was having a cardiac arrest at JFK - the bloody plane left ON TIME!!! How is this even possible I hasten to add that the aircraft had a t!ts-up APU (auxiliary power unit for those not wanting to bother google), so, with much apologizing from the captain, we all roasted while boarding/awaiting push-back as the a/c was unavailable until he was able to start the first engine. 3) Jemma had to pick me up, our car has decided it's on a "go slow". The check engine light is on (the Mrs DID check, and it's still there ) but it refuses to start every few attempts at a trip, so is rather suspect as a reliable mode of transport at present. Out local garage can't fit it in until next week 4) I've got an annual physical next week, and the LATEST in the US health care system (at least our clinic) attempt to reduce even MORE the time you actually spend talking to anyone remotely capable of evaluating you appears to be you, the patient. now have to fill out ALL the questionnaire information that a nurse/doctor usually takes, yourself BEFORE the visit, online. Got the email requesting I do it this AM, and they even have the nerve to require (require as in you can't proceed with the questions!!) you to upload scanned images of the front and back of your insurance card! I'm next expecting Robbie the robot to be sticking a cold metal digit up my sun-don't-shine orifice for the regular checks I guess 5) In about an hour we're off to the other shop house to meet with the contractor and agree on some changes/finalizations - DISREGARD, as I type this he wants to re-schedule for tomorrow - DUH! That's it so far, talk about a comedy, errors and otherwise I guess. Lovely day here, 19 and sunny, heading for 26. RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 14, 2019 Evening. A couple of friends are off to the USA to ride behind 4014 in Omaha whilst we are in Oregon. Would be nice but they have paid around $700 each plus airfares etc. So we wont be joining them unfortunately. Another busy day in the shed. All the electrical trunking is in place awaiting the electrician to wire up. Laminate flooring fitted today. I was 4 planks short so a quick trip to buy one more pack this afternoon. Czech layout now loaded into the car ready for Globalrail in Didcot tomorrow.

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 14, 2019 Evening. Went to the doctors this morning to discuss the ongoing BP issues (which today wasn't too bad for the first time in ages - ironically) - came out with new drugs prescribed, different approach with a newer medication....and type 2 diabetes. Bu&&er. HBa1c revealed blood sugar creeping up that has been previously hidden by another long term issue I have. So cakes, fizzy drinks and biscuits now banned, together with many other things I like. Ah well, it could easily be much worse. New (Indian) GP is very good, I was most impressed. So are the practice nurses as he's a bit of a good looking cool dude. I prefer one of the practice nurses personally!

RMweb Premium TheQ Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2019 Evening Awl, It's dry out side... Just back from. The MRC where I did no muddling, instead I spent some time lying on my side cutting a hole in the side of one of the transport carriages, a shelf Was The fitted and a loose module is now in its home. Some adjustments to that module, and sides fitted to the shelf are still to be done. There were only 3 of us at the club then the other two left just in time for some guests to turn up. So having spent some time talking to them there was no time to finish that shelf. Now I've done one the other two should be quicker. By the time I've finished these changes it will be a full month without any genuine muddling...

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2019 Good evening everyone This morning’s shopping trip was successful but uneventful, however whilst I was in the big orange DIY shed the heavens opened up. I know this from the horrendous noise that the rain made as it fell on the big shed’s steel roof! Luckily I managed to get get back to the car during a lull. Everything that was required form my various shopping lists was purchased, I even found the time to peruse a few magazines (no not that sort, model railway magazines) in WHS, but there were no articles that interested me enough to make me want to buy any. However, as I was leaving the Trafford Centre an hour or so later the sun came out, so after I’d put away all the shopping and had muggertea No2, I chanced it and hung my wetsuit on the washing line to dry in the sunshine, where it remained until early evening. However, as Mike walked down to pick up the takeaway I decided to bring it in as the skies were starting to look a little dark and I didn’t fancy getting up midway through eating our meal to bring it in should it start to rain. As it happened, I made the right choice, because just as we sat down for our after tea hot drinks, the heavens opened up again, almost as heavily as this morning. Tonight’s takeaway meal was an early Father’s Day present as they will be seeing Sarah’s dad on Sunday and tomorrow they are off to the NEC to Gardeners World Live, as Sarah won a pair of tickets for the event. Not that either of them are keen gardeners, but as part of the event there is also a food show on and part of the prize is meeting Ainsley Harriott, which Sarah is quite excited about. Mind you, both Mike and Sarah domlike there food. The evening was then rounded off by opening a nice bottle of merlot. Goodnight all
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2019 Now where did teh day go? Well there was somebody's layout signal plan to check and comment on which took a while, next will no doubt come discussion regarding the interlocking which will hopefully be nice and straightfoward especially as we both can get at the locking chart for the place the layout is based on. Then there was Calling On Signals , again. Then I went to Tesco and the rain stopped and it got quite warm. And I forgot to congratulate GDB and Mrs GDB on theor wedding anniversary - so belated good wishes and all that there. So here I am eventually. 17 1

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) We were not required to take our neighbours to Chelmsford to retrieve their car. It appears that there is nothing wrong with it but they are keeping it to find out why it keeps stopping. The engine and some electric systems randomly fail but never in a garage just in remote hilly parts of Wales or on Canvey Island. Lack of communication from the garage is causing some stress. They don’t really need an unreliable car as they often have to travel to Wales at short notice. I feel bad as I recommended the vehicle and dealer! We invited them round for a drink this evening, and we had a pleasant chat. They won’t be getting the car back tomorrow either but they have been given a taxi allowance for the weekend. We are off to Enfield tomorrow, I have already put the tools I need in the car to replace the shower hose at MiL’s. Why tools for such a simple job? The shower hose has snapped at one end which isn’t a problem as I am replacing it but it has been put on more than finger tight at the mixer end. It is quite common in the US, more so with luxury brands, for the dealer to provide a 'loaner'. Often I see luxury car dealers with a loaner fleet with their name stenciled on the rear window. Even my Nissan dealer will provide me with one. 7 5
Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all Last night’s attempt at karaoke was unsatisfactory to say the least. I had chosen “The Great Pretender” as revived by the late great Freddie Mercury and coached myself beforehand with the aid of a video on YouTube. Come the night and the karaoke machine, the backing track that I had chosen turned out to be nothing like the one I had expected and petered out halfway through! I was furious and still am. Until someone talks some sense into me – just let them try! - I want nothing further to do with karaoke and the pub in which it was held. Those with me said I was great but we must agree to differ on that score. They stayed until chucked out at 4 am. I was at home in bed by 11.15 ahead of needing to be up early. Today is the anniversary of my father’s passing. He was taken in 2005 by lung cancer 20 years after giving up smoking: how cruel is that? I shall spend part of the day at Cambridge Crematorium in quiet contemplation. When the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the roses are in bloom it can be quite a pleasant place. Afterwards I hope to have lunch with a friend and have another go at putting the world to rights. I think that’s enough for one day. Best wishes to all Chris
