Morning All,

 

The temperature got up to around 33°C yesterday afternoon - and it looks set to be even warmer today.  There was also a fairly heavy electrical storm overnight.  Strange weather!

Good morning one and all!  I did not set out to be quite so gloomy yesterday but it's the way the train of thought went.  The news from Debs should cheer us up and I hope that Bill's jury service is not too problematic.   There are forces at work this morning.   The system decided to post this post before I had finished typing the third sentence!  Maybe I do go on a bit but that is no reason for cutting me off before I have reached my peak!   Freedom of speech WILL prevail.

 

Checking the bank statement was "fun" yesterday.  As far as I can tell, everything that should be on the spreadsheet is on the spreadsheet and everything that should be in the statement is in the statement.  Nevertheless there is a discrepancy of £172 so it looks as though I have overlooked something.  Sooner or later the glaring error will come to light but right now I can't see for looking.  My bet is that there are two errors whch when taken together come to that sum.  How annoying!  Fortunately there are many other things to occupy me.  Today I must write a report of last night's talk for the LCGB Bulletin before doing some more work on the trip to Prague which Bill and I will be undertaking later in the year.  In the unlikely surroundings of the 'Spoons in Surbiton back in November we discovered that we were working on the same thing so decided to join forces.  Roundhouse has already contributed some useful advice - thank you, Ian.  I'm also part way through viewing a YouTube item comprising what was then rather ragged live coverage of last year's Pride In London.  It lasts for more than four hours so bite size pieces are the order of the day even before my broadband connection fails again.  I already knew that it takes ages for upwards of 30,000 people and heaven knows how many buses to process the mile or so from Portland Place to Trafalgar Square.  I'm looking forward to be part of this year's multitude next month.

Ey up!

Not raining so I have orders to do some clothes washing then hedge trimming. Youngest Herberr says he will help with the hedge trimming as he has come back to us for a few weeks while his house purchase takes place.

 

Our Barrow house sale continues at a snail's pace..8 weeks and counting....the conveyancing teams are having a giraffe. Not impressed by a lack of communications and a less than professional approach.

 

Great that Debs his home. Just watch out for the awl as she has had some more time to sharpen more of them.

I got home yesterday afternoon, sit on the sofa, take my shoes off and...

 

 

1.5 hour later woke up, I didn't even get to lay down, I think the weekends lack of sleep caught up, then later 6.5 hour sleep almost solid was achieved.

 

An email tells me the 3 Rivers Race Debrief is on Friday, Mid MRC time,... That's annoying.

 

The Oil bath that holds the reference resistors to 23C+-0.125C was switched off yesterday, as we have 4 racks of "guest equipment" in here producing their own heat. So the oil Bath is showing 27C this morning. It's going to be a while before I can measure anything using those resistors, So I'm doing High Ohms which uses individual "dry"  Resistance standards.

I've opened the door to the outer lab to give my lab a little assistance to keep it cool enough as the oil bath cooling is now on..

 

The outer lab is half restored to normal service, the four "guest " equipments will move out as their overnight runs finish.

 

My little brother is 6ft and a lot, so much taller than me, however as he's ten years younger than me he will remain my LITTLE brother.

 

The poppies are showing their stuff around Poppyland, AKA North Norfolk East, it's looking quite pretty at the moment. Yesterdays heavy rain will make stuff grow even faster, fuel cans for the lawn mower are in the car to remind me to fill them on the way home.

 

There is a trail of sand on the bridge between Wroxham and Effin clown town, two vehicles met at sufficient speed to dump oil on the road. Fairly clever for a two way road bridge with a 15mph speed limit over it,  (4mph under it)

 

Time to .. take the next measurement.

Absolutely!  Walking in the parade is one of the objectives I set myself for 2019.  Given that this time last year it had never even occurred to me to attend a Pride, it will be quite something to be part of the biggest one in the UK.  The answer to your next question is that all the buses will be long gone by the time those of us at the back set off.

Good morning all,

Sunny at the moment but forecast to cloud over later. Should stay dry.

Joe and Gemma visited after school as usual yesterday but it was fairly quiet as there was a lot of homework to be done. We still found some time for a nice chat though.

I managed to hobble out to the shed in the afternoon and am gradually clearing the  track and wiring from the old boards. Not managing to salvage much, probably because I'm too impatient.

Main shopping trip of the week is being done today for some reason that escapes me. After that I have a new curtain track to fit and then may get back out to the shed.

This post decided to post itself before I'd finished. Is there a gremlin at work?

An overcast morning in the northern reaches of Salopshire. A less than exciting day in prospect starting with a visit to the dentist, progressing through trawling round the market, then dealing with yet more niff naff and trivia followed by an afternoon's writing, cooking dinner and possibly watching something on the haunted fish tank (if there is anything worthwhile, which these days is doubtful).

 

There's nothing like having your life planned well ahead - I've just been booked to give a talk at the Bedford LCGB about the Royal Scots in June 2020! At my age that could be a bit dodgy....

Morning all from a village east of Tong.  A good day was had yesterday and we babysat for Rachel and Laura. The young lady behaved herself and the girls enjoyed their meal out.  The first task this morning will be the ironing then some shopping. This afternoon we are setting off to Lincoln to see no 1 son a d have a meal with him, Katie and Ryan.  Not a lot else to report.

Sunny intervals in North Herts at present, certainly not as warm as a few days ago so I may put the knees away again for a while. Ground shakers at play, seemingly attempting to build a mud hole fit for a Hippo given the rain yesterday. Muggerone made and delivered to SWMBO and one consumed by self too. "You can't win 'em all" would be a good description of my ability at cribbage last night! I turned down an extra pint of brown wallop - not sure if I was sickening for something? Still, six days until the next chance to do better.

 

Plans for KZ today mainly involve work that needs to be completed before Monday next and might be disrupted by events anticipated during the next few days. I am giving a talk on basic photography to our local Scout Group. I need to assemble a collection of good (I have a few) and bad (I have many more of those) photographs to run as a background and to highlight key points. It should be a good evening and I will be stressing that keeping a record of life is important for you and for your descendants as you can never re-visit your past either as enjoyably or as successfully in your dotage. It would be rather good to get to Didcot on Saturday to see 2999 but I sus[ect that I shall be "alternatively and gainfully employed". SWMBO is off to Stevenage around lunchtime today for a consultation involving pelvic floors I believe, thankfully I will not be involved. I may be grandchild minding ce-soir but am yet to be tasked.  Tomorrow sees a large amount of the G word to be done at our last residence. If I don't go, it will be the J word at the next visit! Following from last night's social gathering, I have to be at the local Sports & Social Club on Friday evening as their usual caterers (well, a mobile pizza oven) cannot attend. For one night only, I shall be the cheapest burger flipper and sausage twirler you know but I draw the line at walking over the glowing coals. I hope the weather forecast I saw was wrong.

I mentioned "lunchtime" but must point out that we are foregoing lunch these days in an effort to balance energy consumption to energy expenditure. I am delaying the normal - and generally healthy - breakfast until mid-morning and then aiming to have an evening meal around 6-7pm. This has been the routine since last Saturday and a weigh-in probably this weekend will show if it has been of any benefit. Success will of course bring its own problems, such as being forced to buy new clothing as the supply of good old binder twine ran out many moons ago, in fact not long after steam was removed from BR's timetable!

Good morning everyone 

 

It’s not raining at the moment, but we are due some more later apparently. Breakfast has been consumed and the bins have been retrieved from where the bin men deem it fit to leave them! My next task will be to make a start on fitting the plasterboard to the walls in the cellar. I don’t expect to finish it all today, but I’m hoping to get both the ends done and possibly a start on one of the longer walls. I’ll have to knock off just after dinner as we have Ava, Evie and Max coming round for tea tonight. It’s a full roast chicken dinner, so there will be quite a bit of preparation to do before they all arrive.

The post has just arrived;The now not needed gib strips for the lathe, and the first batch of some replacement carbide tips for my lathe cutting tools.

 

I'll replace the gib strips, but must remember to cocoon myself in some form of capture area so I don't mislay either of them once I take them out of the bag!

 

Last night's impromptu OFMC meeting resulted in the decision to shift the control panel into an area where there is a great deal of under utilized space, allows more room for access in the event of maintenance, and also allows a much easier job to be done on the long embankment along the back of the baseboards.

 

Why we didn't think of this before is obviously because we are the OFMC and as such attention span is short and memory very much in the short term.

 

Our plan to visit daughter and grandchildren for a day out at the Cotswold Wildlife Park of Friday looks to be a non starter due to the adverse weather forecast.

 

The Obergrumpenfuhrer has suggested Saturday as an alternative, which has gone down like the proverbial lead balloon.

 

My plans had been to go to the enthusiasts day as Statfold Barn, followed by the Midland Small Layout Showcase. (Even if it was to mock say hi to fellow Welsh person, Rob Gunstone.)

 

However her decision will Donald mine!

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Good news from Debs and hope the recovery continues apace. BBC Breakfast this morning was all about the D-Day celebrations. Best bit was when  the presenter asked one of the veterans about all the various bigwigs attending. His answer was "The bl@@dy politicians should have stayed away!" Well said sir!
