RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted April 1, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 1, 2019 Good evening everyone Quite a bit more progress has been made in the cellar, I’ve only got a section of wall about 5ft sq left to strip, I’m hoping that a final push on Thursday morning will sort that out. After that, I plan to then make a start on pulling the rest of ceiling down. Once that’s done I can reroute the cables that were originally run in the plastic trunking that was fastened directly to the ceiling. However, rerouting the cables is a job that will be done on a day when Sheila is at her Zumba class, as one of the circuits I want to reroute is the kitchen ring main. Once that job is done, I can then fit the new ceiling followed by the new lighting. This will then be followed by the application of a waterproofing solution to the walls, before doing a first fix for the power sockets, then finally fitting moisture resistant plasterboard to the walls. After tea a treated myself to a bottle of doombar. Happy birthday Mike Goodnight all

The one we went to in Reading was called Piwnica, we liked our meal and it seems to get good reviews. It was more rural in design than somewhere like Baltic in London. Matthew and his friends trips to Poland were mainly not to Warsaw, one was to a conference held at a Bison research centre somewhere near Bialystok. RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted April 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 1, 2019 Evening all. Seems Jamie started something by not looking more closely at my details on Farcebook - where I not only have a peculiar name as some of you know but also have some rather unusual personal details one of which - completely unintentionally I assure you - tends to make a fool of people (if you follow my drift). The year of my birth which is also shown there I think might help to confirm my distrust of putting any valid personal information on open parts of the infernalnet But thanks for the birthday wishes even if they are 3 months behind time Talking of Red Kites there I was out on the garden doing battle with an somewhat overgrown buddleia and suddenly the things are swarming above me at low altitude and then carrying out food grabbing dives at the opposite end of the garage from where I was standing, taking no notice of me standing little more than 20 feet from them. Mrs Stationmaster had been making pasties so there were a few offcuts of steak fat put out hence the flying display. And the battle of the buddleia was won with minimal battle scars on me - just a few scratches on one arm. The buddleia definitely suffered far more noticeably than me and is now not much over 6 feet tall at its highest point having lost all the bits which were taking its height to well over twice that plus those which were extending its spread by as much if not more - I even had to start a second bonfire heap. The management clearly greatly appreciated my labours saying 'that looks better' - of course it bl>>dy well does 20
RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted April 1, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 1, 2019 My latest trip to the vet dentist actually proved to be something of an anticlimax (thank you Lord) as the inflammation has cleared up by itself so she suggested we just wait and see how it goes without resorting to more root canal torture etc. After dinner tonight SWMBO went round to a friend's place to watch some girlie videos so within a few nanoseconds of the front door closing I was in the shed firing up the soldering iron and only exited a few minutes ago - cracking Grommit! My sympathies are with NHN, Chrisf, Rick and anyone else with this coughing lurgy. Mine is only just subsiding after nearly ten weeks and despite various tests the GP hasn't been able to help but it's like the old saw about banging your head against the wall - it's lovely when it stops (or at least fades away). Goodnight one and each and may your tomorrows be bright and cheerful. Dave 20

chrisf
Good morning one and all, with apologies to Mike Stationmaster for overlooking his official birthday yesterday. The problem with the pot of superglue whose lid is stuck firmly on was solved in an unexpected way. I went to the shop where I bought it and asked if anyone there was good at removing recalcitrant lids from superglue pots. There wasn’t, but they took pity on me and exchanged a full pot with an immovable lid for one with a very removable lid. Wasn’t that kind? I wished the custodians of BBC iPlayer something less than goodwill yesterday morning. My efforts to catch up on “Line of Duty” were impeded by Auntie’s insistence on parental controls. How high-handed is that? Remind me to stay in on Sunday nights while the series is running. What happened to my first pledge to Exeter Pride remains a mystery for now. I tried the Crowdfunder webshite again and this time the pledge went through, proved by the presence of my name on the roll of honour together with those of the other donors. Another puzzle, arising at Sam Carter’s concert, was whether I had a copy of his album “The No Testament”. Soon solved: I have. It’s in the hessian bag because I have not yet played it. Doubts as to ones sanity are best avoided. I’ve been using grapes to wage war against my cough. Already I need reinforcements. Best wishes to all Chris 2 1
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, A belated Happy non birthday to Mike! Dry and even slightly chilly at the moment and those who know about these things are suggesting rain and even hail & thunder are a possibility. First task today is to visit the hospital (no, I haven't mutilated myself) but need a couple of blood tests according to the medics. After that I intend to do the layout dismantling that didn't happen yesterday due to too many other things going on. However I did sort out various financial matters and a deposit to the window people has been made. Just need them to come up with some dates now for final measuring up and installation. Joe's coming for lunch and Gemma will be here later after school so as usual they will brighten up my Tuesday whatever the weather does. Have a good one, Bob. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2019 Mooring Awl Inner Temple Hare, 2.5 Hours solid sleep followed by 1 more hour followed hours of intermittant asleep. Strangely this computer has now joined the needing to clear the editor group. Ben was recluctant to go on patrol this morning and then reluctant to come back..in the gloomy mist. Dawn officially was 06:27 or just before I got here. Yesterday I saw a convoy of 5 tractors each towing farm machinery , (coming the other way luckily), today I saw the same, and a couple of hundred yards later another group of 4 tractors towing things .. glad I wasn't coming the other way. Further on In effin clown town I'm sat at the lights when I could hear sirens and the see the sky illuminating with approaching blue light hidden the other side of the bridge. Lights turn green, cockwomble at the front moves forward halfway up the hump to find a very rapidly moving ambulance heading towards him. Cockwomble then has to reverse, while ambulance brakes.. Hopefully the traffic lights on the bridge will go soon, as I observed the new brick parapet has now been capped. it's much higher than the old one.. The Chinese system is completed... except the Boss wants me to run one short test half a dozen times as the reult of it is unnusual though just with in limits. It's something we've had problems with before on other systems, so he generates an average figure, to use rather than a one off figure. Time to wander down the lab to do those tests..
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2019 Good morning from a rather grey and cool bit of the Charente. Breakfast has been consumed, Carol has given me the UK weather and the Yellow top bin lorry has just done it's crashing and banging outside. I earned some brownie points yesterday by cutting the lawn (So called) near the house and even managed to get the strimmer to work to strim the edges. Much TV was watched last night, including Line of Duty, then there seemed to be a repeat of a tragi comedy set in somewhere with green benches. Off shortly to get 4 new tyres fitted to the Volvo. It's now 15 years old but is just about run in with 170,000 on the clock but I feel that it's well worth while keeping it going. Then after lunch it's off to the hairdresser followed by a visit to the Mairie. We will get madame La Maire to sign a certificate for the DWP proving that Beth is still alive. Until very recently job titles had their gender fixed and mayors were classed as male. However the Acadamie Francais, which controls such things, has now decreed that the definite article can reflect the gender of the postholder. I do hope that those battling the Lurgy manage to win their battles. Jamie
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2019 Ey up! Day 1 of the bedroom refurbishment today. I can sort out any furniture movements but I also need a trip to deliver some rolling stock and to collect a loco for crust earning. Hopefully the fruits of my labours will appear at Trainwest and on here. Tonight is indoor cricket finals night. It's like a mini IPL/PPL game due to a lot of excited players and watchers making far too much noise. I shall try to refrain from asking for quiet. Have as good a day as you can, whatever you do and spare a thought to all of our ailing ERs. Baz
bbishop
Morning awl, Happy birthday to King Michael the First. Well, you're allowed two birthdays. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 2, 2019 Good morning everyone It’s seems to have rained overnight, but it’s not at the moment. Shortly I’ll be heading off to complete the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix. Once back and all the shopping has been put away, I will start making a cheesecake for tomorrow nights tea. Other than that, there isn’t much else planned for the day. Back later

RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Morning and a grey one it is too. Just completed the fencing on the patio and water butt back in place. Now more weathering crust earning as Baz says! Ordered nameplates for 34070 the loco my other half purchased for me out of her bonus. She wanted some more n scale Norfolk Southern but didn't find any at Ally Pally. This is my 46th Bulleid light pacific - still some way to go to get to the halfway mark. They will get regular runs once the shed is built. I see that there's problems on the South Western Mainline again so hopefully Rick is Ok today, despite it not being the platforms staff fault for delays I do get why passengers get frustrated when there are almost daily (if not daily) problems as that was happening to me for a few years as many of you will know. I am really glad I don't commute anymore and feel so much better for it even if the income has drastically reduced. A doublestack just gone through Kansas City Bottoms and an HST just gone through Dawlish - two live cams on the PC's at present. RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted April 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit of bad news last night, I telephoned my sister and she informed me that my 72 year old brother who lost a kidney a few years ago and his other kidney is beginning to fail. At the moment it is a question of dialysis or transplant. My nephew, his son has offered one of his kidneys if it is suitable. I am not in a position to do likewise as one of my kidneys is rather battered about by my having a kidney stone a few years ago. 29 minutes ago, Tony_S said: Morning all. I have just woken up.
