AndyID
When I bought my ski pass in October it seems I was sufficiently clairvoyant to purchase insurance at the same time. The pass cost $469 and the insurance was only $30 so I must have thought it was a good idea. I just got off the phone with a nice lady who I think is in South or Central America. I thought any reimbursement would be prorated somehow. After all, I was able to use the pass for six days and it had already paid for itself compared with the cost of buying single day tickets, but the nice lady informed me that (subject to supporting medical evidence naturally) the insurance will cover the full amount of the pass. EDIT: Oh good! We're on a new page. Edited March 7, 2019 by AndyID More info 17

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted March 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 7, 2019 Good evening everyone Once Sheila had left for her Zumba class I made a start on the soup. This was all done for just before11:00. I then sat down with muggertea No2 and perused the rmweb whilst I drank it. Then I headed off to the workshop and spent the morning pottering about not doing an awful lot, just tinkering with little bits that always seem to take longer than you think to do. I was soldering up one of the MERG kits when my soldering iron broke, the sleeve that the element fits inside snapped, so I decided to make a replacement sleeve to go over the break. I’d just faced off the bar and was just about to drill down the centre when I noticed that my centre drill wasn’t lining up with the middle of the bar. So before I could go any further, I had to adjust the tail stock to ensure it lined exactly with the centre of the work piece, a fiddly job, but one definitely worth getting right, because now I can drill a hole that is dead centre of the work piece. James and Amelia both enjoyed tonight’s curry and cupcakes, Amelia enveloped had two of them! Goodnight all 16

Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all Later this morning I shall set off for Bridgwater and Aunt Joan's funeral. The chest infection is causing fewer coughing fits than before and I know that my presence will be appreciated. I am not one to make the most of a slight indisposition. I had a long e-chat with Harry yesterday afternoon and detect that all is not settled. His new job is in e-commerce and comes with a massive hike in salary. Time may well show that it was the right time for him to get out of retail. Against this there is friction between him and the boyfriend over the new job and they are taking a break, whatever that means. He has stopped going to the gym and has sought my advice on a lifestyle project. Let's just say that my suspicious nature is on high alert. He knows where I am if he needs me. There is still plenty to tell about the holiday. One day I was exploring the suburban rail network of Auckland, exactly what I wanted to do, when the Black Dog made his presence felt with no warning or apparent reason. Later that day I managed to get lost between the station and the hotel. That part of Auckland is very hilly and I was very hot and bothered. Rescue came via the driver of a 105 bus whose driving was reminiscent of Boadicea. Chris

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 8, 2019 Good morning all, A dry and bright start today but rather fresh at the moment and there may be some rain later. The shed and garden clear out continues. Had to scrap several folding garden chairs as the plastic storage box they were in had leaked due to a dirty great crack (where somebody sat down hard on it) and they were absolutely smothered in mould and mildew. I had covered it with a tarp but over the winter that had split and let the water in. Still, they were probably going to be replaced when we do the garden makeover. Domestic stuff to do first today and then more work in and around the shed. Have a good one, Bob.
RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 8, 2019 Good morning If I recall correctly there was no suburban system in Auckland when we got there the night we wewre flying to Los Angeles in 1994. This station in Auckland is no longer used nor are the Silver Fern DMU's which we had arrived on the daily service from Rotorua that finished some years ago. From here it was a bus stright ot the airport for the overnight flight arriving before we took off. Morning all from a sunny Surrey. My back is painful again keeping me awake, not helped by the beeping from either the burglar alarm sensor or the kitchen smoke detector indicating a battery change was required, so after trying to sleep with it I decided to go downstairs and change the batteries in nboth of them. The sensor batteries were shoing signs of leaking but it was the smoke alrm that were flat so both sorted. Being wide awake I decided ot fettle the remaining HO scale boxcars that required wheels cleaning and Kadee height checks. This morning I head ot Liverpool Street but may go for a Great White Worm avoider by taking the Southern service to VIC as far as East Croydon then another Southern service such an ex Uckfield one to LBG. Other modern trians seats may be hard but there is something about the shape of the Thameslink ones that makes them by far the worst trains I have used in the UK. 7
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2019 Mooring Awl ,Inner Temple here, A normal sleep for me ie 4 in bed and 2 on the sofa, with brexit trying to send me to sleep in between.. Ben decided to go on patrol this morning so I was able to see we have now about a dozen daffs out, it was very cold, but we did not have the forecast frost, however my breath was coming out as steam. We also did not need the outside lights on for the first time this year. The final drive into work showed the great fried egg just above the horizon. The workers doing the strip out of the old boiler house have had a week or so of nice weather, while they worked inside, yesterday while they were taking down the chiminey it chucked it down.. (stainless steel tube 2ft diameter 30ft+ tall sectional). They now have a raised concrete bed to chisel off the floor, then brick up the old chiminey hole the ventilators and the old double door entrance. while that is going one the new AC for the outer lab should be fitted. once thats done there is a planned one day shut down in the outer lab for changeover between the system. once the new system is running the old system will be removed, that is in front of the adjoining wall to the boiler room. A plastic tent will be erected while thay take down that wall, and the old AC will go into the boiler room. Then a half Glass partition + doors will fill the hole. after that fit out of the new lab will take place. an it becomes musical instrument time as stuff gets shiffted around. I gain more room in my lab, and less people wandering in to upset my readings. I lose in that I will have to drag the major systems futher to my lab for their calibrations and there will be more major systems.... Delayed a bit from finishing this due to a discussion on micro chucks that fit into a pillar drill chuck the purpose being.... Time to get to work...
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 8, 2019 Good morning from a sunny piece of the Charente. Hopefully it will stay that way unlike yesterday which deteriorated into hail and rain and various things in between. The trip to the distillery went well and we met the owner, Jean Balluet. He's a real character and produces some lovely cognac. However the one problem with it is that the 20 and 40 yr old's are so smooth that partners seem to take a liking to it and bottles get emptied rather quickly. It also turned out that he sells some Bordeaux wine from a vineyard that he inherited from his mother. It would have been rude not to buy a few bottles of red. In the afternoon I went and picked up the lawn mower but managed to leave my mobile there so will be off to retrieve that shortly. We managed to watch the latest episode of Shetland which we both enjoyed then our friend John arrived to eat his share of an excellent fish pie. Once I've picked up the mobile I plan to do some test running in the shed then after lunch 2 friends are coming over to assist with the test running. Beth will be heading off this afternoon to spend the weekend with a friend over near Limoges. I have various plans for the weekend. Chrisf, I hope that your Aunt gets a suitable send off. Regard to all. Jamie
RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2019 Good morning everyone There are quite a few clouds in the sky but the sun is trying to break through. My first task this morning is a visit to the dentist, once done I come back and hav my breakfast then it’s off to the Trafford Centre alone, so it will be a very quick trip, home via the butchers for our weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for dinner. After dinner I’m not sure what I’ll be doing, possibly a bit of art work on the computer in the cellar. Back later
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 8, 2019 Morning all, They've still got my car and i've still got their curtsy courtesy car but it will be a better fit in the (local) Waitrose car park than mine so a shopping expedition is planned in that direction, shortly. Back later.
tigerburnie
Morning, we have a frost but the cloud is rolling in and there's not much blue sky. Stomach still sore from the surgery, that's two weeks today, but everything looks to be healing fine on the outside, planning a walk later, trying to build up some fitness and lose some weight gained with all the pampering and in activity. Not been up to the railway room for weeks, but the minds active with the new layout plans. 3

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 8, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2019 Morning all from Estuary-Land. I was up at 7 this morning where did two of the last 3 hours go? I now have almost enough ply to finish off lining the shed. In the garage I had stored an old bed, this has a solid plywood base so out with the tape measure to find that its 92 cm X 190 cm, as near as dammit the size of the end wall of the shed. It will only need a 10 cm piece between it and the ceiling, now all I have to do is get it from the garage to the shed. Speaking of which I'll have to get on with clearing it, be back later.
