RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 5, 2019 Driving to work this morning, mixed in amongst the normal cockwomble commuters, up on the mountain road, covered in salt, snow by the sides of the road....following..... a Lamborghini Aventador. Must be mad, getting all the salt and gunge on a motor like that. Teapot Templot is beyond my IT skills - I have tried....honest....but it made my head hurt. Fantastic bit of work really, but its not for the likes of me.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 5, 2019 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Popped in to the big orange warehouse this afternoon. I not only bought a couple of small sheets of 9mm ply but found some more pieces in the off cuts box, I will probably need some more anyway. 5 hours ago, Tony_S said: That sounds a bit like the holiday we had in Somerset some years ago. It was some Royal Jubilee and every village seemed to have drunken locals wandering or driving chaotically. No potholes but plenty of ditches! That reminds me of when I lived in Burnham-on-Crouch. The main road into the town has no less than nine right angle bends at most a couple of hundred yards apart and plenty of ditches on either side. On a Saturday night they were sure to catch out a few drunk drivers.

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 5, 2019 We went to two tips today. The first one was as planned but Aditi thought while I had the boot lined with old sheets we should get rid of some rubble and broken pots. We had to go to Pitsea as our nearest place on Canvey doesn’t take hardcore or similar stuff. There were notices stating we may have to show we were Essex residents but we must have looked suitably local! People from Southend or Thurrock can’t go there. RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 Evening all. Good to have Chris and Baz safely back home. Pasty was enjoyed at croust - lunchtime in English - to mark St. Piran’s Day. Pancakes were enjoyed tonight - lemming and sugar variety - to celebrate St. Pancake’s Day. South Eastern Trains managed to reprogramme their information systems to display Thameslink trains this morning as being bound for St. Pancake International. Well done. After some good sun it has now turned wet outside. That’s ok for now as I am inside but the forecast suggests I shall have a soggy start to Wetnessday. As sleep last night was a rather intermittent occurrence I shall try for something better tonight. Sleep well. 18 1
Popular Post Simon G
An interesting day since I posted this morning. Cancer Group meeting guest speaker was all about Yoga and Mindfulness, neither of which I have experienced before. I found it quite interesting and was sad when the session finished. In addition, I was sitting comfortably, so my aching back felt a lot better afterwards and has continued to feel better since. However, I had a missed call from my brother so called him back to hear that an aunt of mine had died. She was 88 and had lived alone in an old farmhouse in North Wales for over 50 years. She appears to have gone to bed last night and then been found by her cleaner this morning. It was a shock to us, as she had appeared to still be fit and healthy, but at least she doesn’t seem to have suffered at all. In the autumn I made some Perry from windfall pears in her garden, so we have raised a glass of the perry to her this evening.

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 Following the terrifying Templot trials this evening at the Hippodrome (see HH's earlier post) I can now spell 'turnout' and tell the difference between a common crossing and a chocolate biscuit. I think that some more training may be advisable before starting on anything meaningful. Tomorrow will see SWMBO and me heading for the Wild Welsh coast at Portmeirion for her birthday celebrations spread over three days so ERs may have to be suspended. Night night one and all. Be lucky. Dave PS - Thanks to Hippo for the chocolate biscuits. 20 4
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 Good evening everyone Quite good progress has been made in the cellar today. The area that I’m working on is under the stairs and will eventually be an office area. The computer is currently in the other room by the window. Once done, it will leave the big room vacant and I’ll be able to start on making that room ready for my layout. So far I’ve managed to remove the paint from an area approximately 6ft x 5ft, which is about 15% of the total area that needs doing. The paint isn’t completely removed, but I’d say about 90% of the paint had been deposited on the floor, the resultant mess almost filled a 2 gallon bucket. It’s bloody hard work, but if I continue at this rate I should easily have this room done before the end of the month. The next stage will then be to remove the ceiling, I will then be able to make a start on fitting a new ceiling and lights and putting in new sockets. The weather today has been quite nice, but shortly after tea it started to rain, not heavily, but it’s still raining now. Goodnight all 17 1

Just start with a turnout (point) and bend it/stretch it as desired. Then add another turnout, slide it etc. Best not to start with a track diagram and try to add points to it although you can do that when you know how. 2 1 7
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted March 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 6, 2019 We had hearing tests this morning. Some deterioration in the upper ranges. They still can't tell that my right ear is weaker than the left, but they think they might sell $7000 worth of apparatus. Movie on Picasso tonight. I'm still not that interested.

Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all! I seem to be a little late on parade but I sure did need the sleep. Where next, asks Barry O. Almost certainly Christmas and New Year in Switzerland. The chances of funding anything else appear remote. During my holiday I had a birthday party, or to be strictly accurate one was held for me. On the basis that it is better to own up before one is found out I asked the tour leader to arrange something. We went to a pizza restaurant near the ferry terminal at Manly in Sydney Harbour and did our level best to drink the place out of riesling. Sufficient of the group turned up to ease the qualms I had had about not fitting in. The Tie was admired by a member of the bar staff, which does seem to happen quite a lot. I'm still nowhere near full power. Today I must make sense of the minimal notes I made at last night's excellent talk by Jack Boskett. Whether a coherent account will emerge is anybody's guess. The cough clings on obstinately and is way past being a nuisance. There is also the little matter of a bowl of left-over pancake batter in the fridge. Will it not be a mortal sin to cook pancakes during Lent? Probably, but I'm past caring. Best wishes to the ailing, which includes me, and the missing, which does not. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted March 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 6, 2019 Good morning from the Charente. We did manage to have pancakes last night along with a lovely coq a vin though not at the same time. Breakfast has now been consumed and I will shortly venture out to get another basket of logs. Whilst out there I will assess the weather to see if it will be OK to have a bonfire. I have a permit for it but will have to see how the wind is blowing. Apart from that various things will get done today. Good to have the usual morning missives from Baz and Chrisf. Regards to all. Jamie
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted March 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2019 Morning all. Aditi is off to a lecture this morning about Edward Seago. I will be waiting in for our parcel of plastic boxes for the fridge. Final delivery is by Parcelforce. Aditi will collect the new frying pan on her way home so pancakes may be on the menu. They almost certainly will be sugar and lemon juice rather than something like Nutella and pomegranate. Tony
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted March 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, A wet and windy night here and it's still quite breezy. Some bright spells promised followed by heavy, possibly thundery showers. First task today is a shopping trip as The Boss wants to try out Lidl's. She's done this before but quickly reverted to Sainsbury's. I'm expecting a similar result today. Hopefully today I should be placing the order for the new railway room aka The Shed. Then in the next few days it will be time to start packing up the contents of the existing room and taking apart the layout. Have a good one, Bob. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 6, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 6, 2019 Good morning everyone I don’t know at what time the rain stopped last night, but it must have been a while ago as there doesn’t seem to be any puddles in the garden. It’s a little dull and grey at the moment, currently it’s 10C and dry but there is a 50% chance of rain sometime during the morning. So, I’m going to chance walking to the swimming pool without a jacket and hope for the best. As the butchers is just a few yards away, I will call there on my way home to buy some chicken fillets for tomorrow nights curry, the rest of the meat rations can wait until Friday. Back later.
