She is now in hospital but should be home for the weekend. The shelving unit is looking a lot tidier but theres still not a lot of space created. I've taken Back Track since issue number 1, about 35 years ago IIRC. I have every issue bar one that was loaned out and never returned. Some of the photographs in current editions now post date the early editions. I have all the Modeller Back Tracks it only lasted about 2 years, full pedant scriptures, it was just like reading a comic barring that there was some excellent features. Tony we now stream our TV viewing off the modem we only watch the odd program's on the ariel the cable went months ago.

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted March 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 4, 2019 Good evening everyone Well I never got to the workshop this morning. Once I’d finished making the cake and had got it in the oven, I remembered that I needed to make some cupcakes for Wednesday nights tea, so I made a dozen. Then I realised that we didn’t have any carrots for tonight’s tea. So I took a walk to the local grocers to get some. By this time it was just after midday. Just after I’d got back the heavens opened and we had a very heavy shower, so I decided to make a start on removing the distemper from the walls in the cellar. It’s hard work but it will all have to come off before I can apply the waterproofing solution. So for the time being, I’m going to work in the cellar during the week and in the workshop at weekends. Goodnight all 13

It's the first year we have seen them and never knew they were there. Ah, daffodills. I just love them and everything else at this time of the year that heralds spring. From early February onwards I savour the snowdrops and crocuses followed by the tulips but most of all I look forward to the gardens and verges turning yellow with daffodils and then comes the glory of them all - the cherry blossom. We have a tree just outside our kitchen window that is laden with very pale pink blossom every year and whatever else is going on it lifts my spirits just to see it. The buds are there in profusion at the moment waiting to open up and give us the most wonderful display. Isn't nature glorious? And on that note I bid you all a good and peaceful night. RMweb Premium Popular Post BR60103 Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 We are going for hearing tests tomorrow. We're at the point that we can't understand each other unless we go in the same room and directly address. Friday I get to see the Dr. about my knee -- symptoms match ACL strain. Thursday is major dental inspection. For those trying unsuccessfully to avoid the nonsense in Washington, try reading the last chapter of Pratchett's Going Postal -- the description of the forensic accounting investigation. 3

There was an occasion in a northern BC town when the temperature got down to minus 46C, and all the municipal vehicles, including all the snow-clearing equipment, would not start. They had been converted to propane, which condenses at minus 42C. Edited March 5, 2019 by pH 6

Popular Post chrisf
Blithering jet lag - couldn't agree more ... Good morning one and all! I'm back from the greatest thing I've ever done, which I enjoyed immensely. It involved eleven different hotels, three overnight flights and two and a half days on one of the finest trains in the world. My attempts to sleep on the night flight from Hong Kong to Heathrow were at best patchy. With others in the group I picked up some sort of chest infection and possibly as a result I could not finish my 'Spoons breakfast yesterday morning - oh, the shame. Priority one right now is a long hot wallow, for there are aches and pains to soak away. Why are airliner seats so uncomfortable? I hope that all is well, or at least as well as possible, with the world of ERs. One day I will find out for myself but today will not be the day. I need to work out how to retrieve my Barclaycard bill, which includes entries in four different types of dollar, do the monthly balancing of the bank accounts, have a blood test and work out whether I will be able to attend a family funeral in Somerset on Friday - oh yes, and make some pancakes, for today is Shrove Tuesday. All this is before I even start thinking about three and a half weeks of laundry ... Tomorrow I may be more coherent but do not hold your breath. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, A better nights sleep as the motorways stopped going past.. Big News... We have 1 daffodil opening it's eyes.. Several crocuses have come out in areas where I don't normally see them and our primroses (wild variety) have also opened up. Ben The Border Collie is getting used to being back home, though he has taken to curling up in SWMBO's chair. A visit to Lidl and BQ last night was successful. Lidl as they have spare li-on batteries for my parkside drill, £22 for a 4 Ah was a good price. BQ for a plastic 110 ltr 4 wheeled box.. This is for fleeces, no not jackets but those direct Ex sheep. At the moment SWMBO has been using a wheely bin to wash them in, but a lower box with more surface area will be easier for her (only £15:50 ). A visit to the post office to collect a signed for parcel, that we had a received a card for, as we weren't in, was less successful. They didn't have it and claimed it had been delivered.... So why the card and why wasn't it delivered... when I got home the neighbour brought it round... fencing in the parcel, no not freya replacements but 2mm scale.. this was a trial of a different 3d printed supplier, I've not got the ruler to it, but it looks a bit big..which would be a a shame as it is cheaper than other companies and the actual bars are just as thin.... It was still blowing 50+ mph last night though it has eased off this morning, though I'm still trying to warm up after a cold trip in in the landrover.. Time to head for the 23C of the Lab, which I hope will be quieter, they are still clearing the old boiler house next door and whatever they were using was causing the concrete walls to shake yesterday.. 8
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 as part of our trip we had a night 9n a houseboat. RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 Morning all from a village that is less breezy with a bit of sun and is still fortunately at least 100 miles from Ikea, both north and south. Anyway I've just finished breakfast. Before that I went round to a friends house to check their fires. John arrives from the UK today so I went and lit his fires last night. This morning they were still slightly warm with all wood consumed so I relit them and hopefully the house will be nice and warm when he get here after lunch. I will go and check them again about 12. Now that I've eaten I will be off to the lawn mower repair place shortly to see if our mower is ready. On my return a but more log splitting is in order. Hopefully some time will be spent playing trains in the shed then John will he here for the evening meal. Coq a vin has been promised. Good to see Chrisf and Baz back with us after their journeyings and that they both seem to have had a good time. No 1 son and partner are in Boston (Mass) and finding out what a somewhat colder winter is like. They are staying with friends and had to help shovel 16" of snow to get out to do the shopping. At least they aren't in the other parts of the US. I see reports that the Roseville Rotaries have been out on Donner pass for the 2nd time in 3 years. It's normally one year in 10. They only get called out when there is more than 4' of wet snow in a day. Jamie 19
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, The sun is shining and it should be a fairly fine day although some showers are possible. Happy St. Piran's Day to Rick. I'm glad to say that I do have some Cornish blood in me but not as much as you. Welcome back to our intrepid travellers. My sister is currently doing something similar and is in Bali at the moment after visiting Singapore , Australia and New Zealand. For somebody who suffers a considerable amount of severe back pain (she's had six or seven ops on her spine) I don't know how she puts up with all the travelling. I am currently aching rather a lot after the couple of hours spent in the garden yesterday and also still can't shake this head cold. I have given myself a mammoth task with the proposed new railway room/workshop as well as all the work being done on the house itself although other people will be doing the bulk of it. Today I'm going to visit the shed men and see if we can agree the final details and price so that I can get the order placed. Kids will be here after school and of course there will be pancakes later. Have a good one, Bob. Edited March 5, 2019 by grandadbob

I’ll shortly be doing the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix and on the way I’ll drop Sheila off at the hairdressers. Once I’ve put away all the shopping I’ll carry on in the cellar. I’m hoping to get the area under the stairs stripped of distemper by the end of the month, one lives in hope! Welcome back Chris and Baz. Just a normal day in the life of a railway modeller trainset operator. In the 'old' days we just measured the blood glucose and I well remember a gentleman who always came to the clinic with a level of '20+'. HbA1C made a tremendous difference to the treatment of diabetics because it effectively averaged the glucose levels over a period of 6 weeks and evened out the 'ups and downs' and therefore the amount of insulin prescribed. In the case above the gentleman was on relatively high levels of insulin. It turned out that on clinic days he could not get home in time for his next meal so could go hypoglycaemic. To stop this he had a 'high' glucose meal before coming and hence we measured a level of 20+. Once HbA1C was instituted this came to light and he was put on a much better insulin regime. One of the positive side effects of this was that he did not have to come to the clinic so often and of course his actual health improved. 5

As my birthday is in January, so is my annual review. The HbA1C therefore always includes the Xmas period. 5 2
Popular Post Simon G
Morning all, Chuckinitdarn here so far this morning, with a bit of a breeze as well. Hopefully it will clear as I am off out at lunchtime to my cancer support group for their monthly meeting. I am suffering today (and yesterday), as I have aggravated my back, so it is very stiff and uncomfortable. I have had problems with it for over 40 years, so it is nothing new and will clear up in a day or so. Fortunately I was comfortable in bed, and the back felt fine for about half an hour after I got up, then just stiffened up again. Again, this is nothing new. Currently sitting in an upright chair, with a hot water bottle on the affected area. Edited March 5, 2019 by Simon G 1
