RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted February 22, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 22, 2019 Good evening everyone It’s been another beautiful sunny day here in the northwest, night temperature was 15C again. This morning’s shopping trip was uneventful and I managed to get everything that was on the shopping list. I even earned a few brownie points by bagging a bunch of flowers for Sheila as well! All this was completed in just over an hour. I then made myself a muggertea and sat and read the magazine I purchased from WHS whilst I was out. The afternoon was spent redesigning my test track, which will now include a pair of Peco medium and a pair of small electro-frog points as well as a bit curved track. I’m going to use flexible track and I’ll hopefully, with the aid of a track-setta gauge, I’ll set the cured bits to both 2nd and 3rd radii. I’m just hoping that it will all fit on the “mdf plank” that I’m currently using. On the subject of broken bones, so far in my 62 1/2 years in this world, I’ve never broken a bone, however, I am missing one! And on that cheery little note, I’ll bid you all goodnight.

So far, just my wrist - both ulna and radius - in one episode during soccer practice at 14 years of age. The break was declared to resemble a dinner fork. I was fortunate it was not a compound fracture. 2

Jamie Jamie: Is the 50x24 actually that or is it some other size, as a 1x2 is here? Southern Ontario apparently has run out of road salt. Our latest episode with mixed ice, snow, and rain has been cleared (or melted itself). Weekend is supposed to merely have very high winds. 3

Yes It's about 45 by 22. Apparently the 2 x 1 is the size before it goes through the planer to produce what I think was called PSE (Planed square edged) in the UK. RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, A bit misty here but it should be another fine and dry day with plenty of sunshine. Enjoyed rugby last night with Gloucester managing to beat Saracens although the latter were without (I think) 6 International players (5 English and 1 Welsh) Today will be another feast of rugby with France v Scotland followed by the big one. Both Wales and England unbeaten so far in the championship and with Wales at home that should give them a big edge with all that support but naturally I'm hoping that England win and think they can. I wouldn't put any money on the result though (either way) First task today will be ferrying the ladies of the family to a nail bar so they have have manicures etc. We're off to a party tonight at friends of Nicki. They are Jamaican and their rum punch is spectacular and dangerous. Luckily I knew this before I first tasted it so treat it with a great deal of respect. The Boss is calling for tea so I bid you farewell for now. Have a good one, Bob. Edited February 23, 2019 by grandadbob 16

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2019 Good morning all and The Awl, it's bright and sunny here with the moon still visible to the west. I seem to have scored a few of those fleeting thing called brownie points this morning. Today is a double anniversary for us. Last year Beth's Dad died at 8.30am and Rachel (Our daughter) got married at 1pm, so there are bitter and sweet memories. I presented Beth with a red indoor rose plant in memory of her Dad and some white roses to mark the wedding anniversary. This seems to have gone down quite well. I better get the points spent asap, their shelf life can alter very quickly. Anyway the ironing await and then hopefully some more joints will be made in the shed. Some domestic tasks will be undertaken as 3 friends/neighbours are due for a meal this evening. In the course of the meal a glass of 40 yr old Cognac will be raised in memory of Will (Beth's dad). He did like his brandy. Apart from that there isn't a lot to report so I will send my best wishes to all and sundry, especially those with the lurgi and all other missing and suffering ER's. RMweb Premium TheQ Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 23, 2019 This is the second time of typing this, Ben knocked my arm and I managed to change pages. When I returned did it remember my typing? Yes.. Unfortunately last nights waffle not today's. Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare , Ben the Border Collie got me up earlier than I wanted, then refused to go out once I opened the door as a bird scarer went off. It took some persuasion to get him down the garden. He's now lying by my side beating up a toy. Today's plans... Finish the garage wall... Bye for now.. I don't know how Jamie had the gall to post that during my typing. 10
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) Tea now taken up to Herself who seems to be in a good mood. I forgot to mention that yesterday I got things moving with the first of various projects planned for GDB Towers. The roofers have been booked to start in just over 2 weeks time to do the repairs and remove a redundant boiler stack. Hopefully I will be ordering the new shed in the next few days so that that can be erected after they've finished. This will be followed by the replacement windows and then we'll start on the inside. Also need to get a quote for new patio and lawn etc. I had intended to do this myself but my back has instructed me that it will be on strike. (for the foreseeable future) Busy times ahead. RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) Morning from a sunny but breezy Ilfracombe. An accident on the M25 showing delays of 50 minutes meant that yesterday mornings trip started off with a diversion by back roads to avoid this but that only added 20 minutes to our journey. A good run after that to Blackmoor Gate where we had lunch in the old station and plenty of photos obtained whilst there for the planned new layout. Then it was onto Woody Bay for a trip behind LYN , my first sighting of this superb replica. Being a weekday it want too busy so got some superb photos. a short journey from there to Ilfracombe then it was pub crawl time. I think we missed just three pubs as they didn’t appear to ha e anything worth gong in for. That still meant around a dozen pubs visited albeit half pints in most for us. Today we may go to my brothers via Bideford. Have a a good day all. Edited February 23, 2019 by roundhouse

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) Morning all. Perhaps Phil's fog is moving east as it hasn’t cleared here yet. It is forecast to clear soon though. We are supposed to go to Enfield today. I don’t feel like going anywhere at the moment. I thought I was over the cold yesterday but it seems to be having an encore this morning. Tony Edited February 23, 2019 by Tony_S

RMweb Premium Dave Hunt Posted February 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 23, 2019 Greetings ERs from a bright and breezy N Salop. Unfortunately I'm not in the same category as the lurgy is still doing its thing albeit having moved on somewhat with less dribbling but now painful inner ears to go with the sore throat, headache and hacking cough. For a bit of light relief yesterday I tried to get to grips with Templot and to start designing my layout but I seem to be a complete numpty and even with the guides written by various people to say it's slow going would be an understatement. Is it just me, an age thing or has anyone else struggled to reach Templot nirvana? Anyway, before it made my headache a lot worse I'd sort of done some constructive work but the end result would, I'm sure, be laughed at by anyone competent. The main event today will, of course, be England v Wales; the outcome too close to call but it should be an exciting game. I just hope that the excitement doesn't make my cough worse. Hope that those who are fit and well have a good day and that the lurgied ones get better. And prayers for the more unfortunate. Dave 2

dseagull
Morning all Has been a spectacularly busy couple of days at work, so have been rising very early and going in to try and combat the tide of emails. Tasks for today include dismantling Hannah's cot and rebuilding it in the bedroom she will now be sharing with Leah, placing an online shopping order and putting up some hooks, along with whatever else I am instructed! The bedrooms are very nearly done, so soon it will be my turn to put up some brackets for the new layout to live on! Now off to catch up with two days worth of posts. Enjoy your Saturday all.

John - sorry to hear of your loss. Fay and groggy Upon the Hill of Strawberries again this morning though aircraft are landing at the nearby Row of Heath as is apparent from the sound effects overhead. Brief but pleasant Friday Drinks yesterday with SWMBO plus colleagues. Pleasing to find Proper Job on tap at the Coach & Horses, Kew Green and well kept at that. It doesn’t often travel so far from its St. Austell home. The later session didn’t happen because our Neighbours (Various) declared themselves too tired to go out. Since when are students too tired to go drinking on a Friday night? According to my phone I have an event today involving thumping diesels in the village of Isfield. Unfortunately the event marks 50 years since closure of the means by which I might reasonably have got there ..... Instead I shall busy myself with some household tasks and consider what best to do with the cheque I am told will be here in two weeks from now settling my late parents’ estate. I wish a good weekend to all and with special thoughts to our belurgied, other sick, injured and travelling. 18
