I really would like to take these individuals out, put them in a wooden shed with a substantial work bench and clamp their unmentionables into a vice rather tightly.

Then remove the opening pin and set the shed on fire.........throwing in a blunt and rusty table knife for their personal use as I went out and cut myself a piece of special cake to enjoy as I watched a frantic drama unfold.

Personally I think they should be shot....very slowly.

The bathroom was finally sorted out by early afternoon Wednesday, the failed bath was removed that morning by totters, who actually asked if they could. I was outside the front at the time; they may not have bothered to ask otherwise; not that I care, they're welcome to it.

Mrs mole returned from Sidmouth having played in various pub sessions and slept in her car; she also ran into an old friend from her Somerset days who coincidentally was sleeping in the next car in the car park, so they had some time together.

Sorting and disposal of stuff is ongoing. I need to contact some specialist book dealers, as I need to shift my archaeology and military libraries in one hit rather than attempt to realise their market value. Fortunately many books were second hand to start with, so the perceived 'loss' of potential value won't seem so bad.

Time to head for the shops now. and a visit to The Guide Dog to pick up a penny whistle Mrs mole left there after a session; as if I needed an excuse, it's about two minutes' walk from Aldi and I normally head there unless there's a Saints home game. Not to avoid the supporters, it's a tiny pub and just gets packed.

Good vibes to all, stay dry (externally).

Pete

Afternoon Awl

I was just about ready to go out to the boat when SWMBO revealed Ben the Border Collie would go hungry unless I went for a big doggy bag, 17kg later I returned home.

I've found out my boat would float, How? Because the cover leaks and there is water inside. A new tarp is needed..

Much filling of gaps with a filler/ adhesive resin So now she's waterproof well above the waterline.

No strength yet though, as This is in preparation for finishing the bandaging inside and out.

Also, part of the overlapping deck joints were glued up.

After that a plant box was built, brownie points earnt.

A new advert by the road side, says there is nearby fete with dog show Next Saturday at 13:00. Also nearby next Saturday is the J50 group model railway show, which starts at 10:00. I feel a plan coming on, J50 show for 2 hours, return pick up SWMBO and Ben, fete for a couple of hours..

Well it's recovery time, a large Highland Park is assisting, eye inspection is expected.

Afternoon All

Love this scam letter someone posted yesterday.attachicon.gifFB_IMG_1533999000481.jpg

Unbelievable - it's so obviously a scam that I doubt that even the more gullible among us would fall for it.

Well, that was a job and a half - started off with the weekly bookwork, checking the bank and credit card statements (and I use the same bank as the scam purports to be from, so I hope that my debit card is safe from catching fire), then it was decreed that "the garage could do with a bit of a tidy up".  Well we sold the panellng a few weeks ago, which did make a fair bit of space, so I thought, OK won't take long.  Five hours later, we'd completely gutted the garage, and stacked EVERYTHING on the drive, then gave it a good sweep, and replaced everything in different places to "make room for the bikes" which were in the shed, not under secure lock and key - so it was probably a worthwhile exercise, but we're both knackered now,

So it has to be generic greetings, and a welcome back to Flavio after a long absence, and for Andy - it's early days yet, and people have yet to get to know that you're there - it will take time, but I'm sure that things will pick up for you very soon.

Chicken Korma awaits, so back tomorrow.

Regards to All

Stewart

I've just received a scam call on the house phone, telling me my internet would be cut off.  To prevent this I needed to press 1. (I didn't)

I've received plenty of scam calls in the past, but it's always be a person.

This call was one of the automatic variety.

No doubt  pressing 1 would have connected me to a premium rate number, or to an individual willing to fleece me out of a few pennies.

I really would like to take these individuals out, put them in a wooden shed with a substantial work bench and clamp their unmentionables into a vice rather tightly.

ANn what would you do to them if you wanted to be really nasty?

Cheers,

Mick

This has to be a spoof.

Is the "factory" in "Molton Keynes" or Bangalore? Nice to see that cards will be destroyed "on a rival" That sounds like an important "precushion".

Am I imagining it or is it possible to use a paper template to hold the gears in place when reassembling a clock?

Thanks Andy, I'd thought of that as well and have sorted out some thickish paper to make the template from.  Once everything is in place f can just be torn out.  I've also seen some videos in YouTube where they have some wire hooks to manipulate the gear spindles with.   I will report in due course.

Clearly a spoof spoof.

If the spammers mentioned by Happy Hippo were from the sub-continent the most severe punishment would be “does your mother know you do this?”

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. They've replenished the towels at reduced prices in Tesco's again today, yet another colour (mid grey), I now have sufficient towels for the next few years. Now its time to put the kettle on, be back later.

And as they're mid-grey you needn't wash them until they smell really bad... :stink:

You could always give them one of these numbers:

……………...

I see M&S are closing stores as are House of Fraser, I do wonder how long John Lewis can go on in its current format, they all appeal to the same market, (middle class?) which seems to be disappearing.

These like Woollies and Maplins seem to have lost their way, Woollies lost to the poundlands, Maplins, well they spent a fortune opening shops everywhere, just as their market went on line.

Many seem to think this is a disaster but the market has always changed, a hundred years ago the next village had two pubs, a Taylor's, a cobblers, a general store, a council school, and a post office. Now all it has, is a pub, that, in reality, is a restaurant that serves beer, even that is subsided by running events and having caravans stay in their grounds.

…………………..

Our village had a pub on the corner of the next street way before we moved here, and I believe there was one at the bottom of the village as well.  When we moved in, there were 3 chapels, a church,  a Post Office-with-grocery store with a small clothing section and a primary school. The pubs are regular terrace cottages.  One chapel was knocked down and housing association houses built on the site.  Another is currently being converted into a house.  The church was converted to a house over twenty years ago. The post office and store are long gone and the house recently renovated.  The School is surviving due to several estates having been built over the last four decades and more.  We also have street lighting up our end and what looks like an airstrip of lights where the village road meets the main road.  There are far more telegraph poles, the buses are longer so they do not come up to the top of the village anymore, and broadband aerials as well as satellite dishes up on the houses.  There is also more of a fight for parking spaces in places!  But we still get sheep wandering off out of their fields to pay us a visit and munch our plants.  In other words, a typical north Wales village!

The city centre has changed even more, from local owner shops to big name stores, charity shops and big name coffee shops, and a lot more lying empty.  Oh, and a modelling come toy shop but he moves around a lot but I hope he does not go too soon as we have a layout to build...

Regarding the forecast for Llandudno, today.  Well it did NOT rain, the clouds sitting threateningly over the mountains, at least until we set off for home.

Our village has no shops now apart from the mayor's daughters who sell meat and eggs from an office on the farm. However we do have a baguette machine from which you get fresh bread at 1 Euro per baguette 6 days a week apart from August when it's 7 days a week.   There is a vineyard that makes it's own cognac 4 miles away but one of the farms has an acre of vines and produces his own rotgut rose wine that has to be drunk with pamplemouse syrup.  We do however have plenty of fruit trees in the gardens of the empty houses in the village and gt figs and walnuts I season as well as sloes.  We also get apples, plums and cherries from our own garden so we don't do too badly.

Good evening everyone

It’s been a funny old day, sunny for the most part, but I was half expecting it to rain at any minute, but thankfully it held off all day, only starting to rain after we’d sat down with a hot drink after tea. So I was able to crack on!

I got on quite well during the morning session, lifting another 25% of the patio, meaning that I am now over halfway through. After dinner I continued with my task, but whilst lifting the flags from around the drain that water from the kitchen sink and washing machine drain into, I noticed that there was a lot of damp earth underneath the stone layer. So it warranted a further look, but after digging down a couple of feet it became clear that it was from the the drain. Instead, it came from the two down pipes from the sink and washing machine that was getting behind the pointing around the drain. So I replaced the two short down pipes with slightly longer ones, reducing the amount of overspray (for want of a better description) which has resulted in no water getting behind the drain. Tomorrow I’ll start to back fill the area ready for relaying the flags in the not too distant future.

Goodnight all.

Olympus is much the same.   My OM-D will only talk to my phone by wifi and not to my laptop.   The piece of software is only for Android phones and is carp.

I still use a USB cable.

I think the camera companies would do better to stick to their knitting, publish their wireless interface and allow third party developers to create the apps. I've given up now and will resort to the cable or SD card swap methods.

We could use some rain here. We typically get thunderstorms around this time but so far none this year.

I suppose we live in a sort of village. It has a marina, a restaurant, a nice bar and a little store that even sells petrol. But only during the Summer months. The wildlife takes over from October to May. There's nothing quite like the beautiful silence after a serious snowfall. Winter is great, as long as you don't have to go anywhere :)
