andyram
Good evening and best wishes to you all. Special thoughts to those who are suffering. Two more days have passed and I still have very little voice. Yesterday saw me struggle with an outdoor PE lesson, alongside a visiting sports coach in the howling wind and driving snow. All good fun! The latest sign of the boss’ incompetence came this afternoon. A teacher in one of the older classes was out on a course this afternoon. The boss took the class, but half way through the afternoon needed to attend the meeting. That meant the class needed covering. So what to do? Guess which of the following options was chosen? A) Call the deputy head teacher from non-contact time to cover the class. B) Ask one of the other teachers, who were on, planning time, to step in and cover - promising to reimburse the lost time later. C) Deploy a TA to cover the class. Or D) Decide to split the class - sending four or five children to every class in the school to “help” the class teacher without warning the staff and thus disrupting every single lesson in the entire school. I wonder how many will get the correct answer.
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 2, 2018 Evening everyone Well today’s weather has been a complete contrast to yesterday’s, not a single rain drop in sight and sunshine all day, although we still had a very cold wind. As it was Thursday Sheila was out at her Zumba class, so I was once again home alone. However, just like yesterday, I’ve spent the day continuing with the preparation work for re-decorating in the attic. The lining paper that I removed so that I could re-plaster a damaged area has now been replaced, and all those little corners that had started to lift has been re-pasted down too. After dinner the woodwork was cleaned and prepared ready for painting. I’ve also filled in all the hair-line cracks in the ceiling that are inevitable in a property that is over 120 years old. I also reckon that I’ve again done around 1000 stairs today. Goodnight all.

RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 2, 2018 Excuse my cynicism, but most of these nature programmes are probably made in a big studio/tank made to look like the habitat the creature would normally dwell in. David the badger is really a stunt badger whose limp is the result of a nasty tumble after one too many 'Old Prickly's' at the 'Black Cock Inn'. How far's that I hear you ask? Just up the hill from what used to be Penrhos Junction actually! Yesterday evening, we got it straight from the horse's, or should I say seahorse's mouth - a rock pool constructed off site and an oar used to create the waves. Yes, we went to a Public Lecture at Bangor University given by Miranda Krestovnikoff about her work on programmes such as Coast and The One Show. Other tricks included recounting failed underwater dialogue onshore using the face mask and a bucket of water to get the 'sound' right. Anyway, an entertaining evening with plenty of pretty pictures, cute creatures, and informative information. It brought back very happy memories of our sailing days into the bargain, in particular, puffins in Cardigan Bay on our way to Milford Haven; a pair of cuddly puffins bought in a Milford Haven waterside shop; a large smack of multisized, multicoloured jellyfish swimming on the current around and under the boat on our way back from Milford; Manx shearwater between Ireland and the Isle of Man; seals, dolphins and porpoises in our local waters; lion jellyfish in the Menai Strait and on the rudder of our dinghy in our earlier racing days - no wonder we were dropping back! Not to mention loads of tiny creatures on all the beaches we walked and barbecued on. Reminiscing over... ' Night all and nos da. Sweet dreams everyone.

RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 2, 2018 Good morning all, Dry here and a cold, bright and breezy day with some good spells of sunshine forecast. Up early after another disturbed night and feeling a bit rough. Been fasting since 19.00 hours and off to hospital for blood tests at 7.30 followed by X-rays. Great! According to RM tracking my Birdcage reached Croydon at 3.32am and will now be sent to Sutton so with a little bit of luck I may see it today. Nothing else planned today except breakfast when I get back later. Have a good one, Bob.
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2018 Morning all. Welcome to Friday. Unlikely to be poetic here but I’ll let you know. 3C and clear outside meaning the grass is crunchy and I was awoken at 4.17am by an MPV on de-icing duties Best wishes to one and all especially our sick list.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2018 Been to the botanicals and art gallery. New Myki card obtained (ours were to run out in March) so another reason to return. Some trips now only need a tap on on the trams Rick. Big holes have appeared here for a new metrolink tunnel...perhaps Leeds City Council could investigate having an underground railway.....it was only proposed in 1937. Up very early to fly Propeller Sun to the south end of Hobitshire.... Have a great day and I hope all medical procedures go well and that those with ailments see an improvement. chrisf
Good morning one and all The delivery brat has found a new way to be irritating. I now get the paper delivered in alternate weeks. I twigged this only yesterday afternoon and strode purposefully into town to fetch one from the chapel next door to the newspaper office, for that is what one must do when default occurs. This punctuated bouts of m*d*ll*ng and re-heating in lieu of cooking. In the evening I completed a questionnaire which had been sent to me twice already aimed at men diagnosed with prostate cancer. It came from High Wycombe and will be posted this morning to Winchester, for reasons best known to the NHS. I do feel more than a little irritation at being asked to complete such things. Perhaps there is a connection with the gloomy news item on Today as I type about the numbers of men taken by the disease. Research funding is apparently half that devoted to breast cancer. Still, amid the welter of statistics is one which suggests that we who have it are surviving longer. I'm glad of that because my work on earth is not yet done. Later today will be the fodder run. I need to make provision for sarnies tomorrow despite not yet knowing whether the expedition that they will fuel will take place. We shall see. Meanwhile, best wishes and warm thoughts as always to the ailing, recovering and missing. Chris

Popular Post Robert
Morning All, 6668 - The neighbour of the beast... It is a pretty chilly morning today - with frost, and icy roads. Fortunately, we didn't encounter any problems. We did wonder if there would be trouble as the main road is closed due to a lorry having turned over during the night. It was carrying 20 tonnes of something granular which now has to be shovelled up manually - However, the accident turned out to be beyond where we turn off. Not a lot else to report, so I guess it is time for a coffee. Have a good day everyone...

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 2, 2018 Mooring Awl, inner Temple Here, A good nights sleep of about 7 hours but in several pieces. Did I mention that the supermoon had affected the tides? That's the Blakeney car park between the two sets of white posts, unusually without some grockles car full of salt water. The big sign has dire warnings about parking at high tide... Bitcoin has fallen again now below $9000, oh dear how sad... Some BBC reporter this morning, reported with some surprise that the Indian minister of finance stated bitcoin is not legal tender, I've news for the reporter, I don't think there is a country in the world where it is legal tender. What you are doing is bartering a theoretical amount of a mythical currency for an object.. An oddity with the house of strong ladies, I ordered a torque wrench, about 2 weeks later they refunded the money, saying they didn't have any, most odd for their stock control to have failed. I ordered a different one 3 days ago and it arrived yesterday. I must admit I'm ordering things off the internet more and more, the days of wading through magazine adverts and catalogues are long over, and these days things get delivered in a couple of days no more waiting 28 days. Although saying that I still have a look through the adverts In Railway Modeller, if you don't know the items and companies exist you don't know what to look for on the net. I first started serious ordering from magazines when living in the Hebridies, there aren't too many railway model or marine shops out there, the nearest Model railway shop I can find listed today is in Dingwall about a 9 hour journey (6 hours by air). The Internet has brought a whole new world to the remote areas of the UK, and it works the other way. I bought some N gauge etched fencing from Peedie Models in the Orkneys, it arrived here in Norfolk a few days later...(nice etch) Well during my meanderings I have been doing some work, three shunts have been calibrated, and the 4th is nearing being warmed up ready to measure.. Time to type in another set of 200+ digits...

DDolfelin
This and that: Since I've had soft close toilets installed - and got used to them - I tend to make a heck of a clatter dropping the lid in other folk's lavatories. Getting to sleep: With lots on my mind recently I've had to come up with a method of getting to sleep at night. It may be of interest to others who have this problem: Obviously don't take on too much liquid in the evenings or you will be up in the night. Step one is to get comfortable in bed and think about every part of the body making sure it is relaxed from the toes up. Switching off the mind is more difficult. I choose a four plus syllable word and slowly count it in my head: eg: Undergraduate One, Undergraduate Two and so on. This is very boring which is the whole point really. Mostly works for me but is of little help when the semi feral old cat jumps on my privates in the night.
