RMweb Premium Popular Post newbryford Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2017 A good night tonight with two couples and their families. We all celebrated our silver anniversaries this year and our respective kids have always got along with each other - they range fro 14 to 20. Tomorrow today will be up about 9ish for a bacon butty as MiL calls round for present opening. Then it's off to work with Mrs and Junior NB. I'll probably be setting the fire in the range and doing a few other manual tasks - sciatica permitting, having a drink or two, then walking home, leaving them at work.. There may be some snoozing and/or modelling done. About 4pm a plateful of turkey etc, will appear as Mrs and Junior get home after serving about 120 lunches! As it's now gone past midnight, I wish you all a Happy Christmas. Cheers, Mick
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2017 Evening everyone Well that’s it, what we haven’t got now, we’ll have to do without until Wednesday! Yesterday afternoon was very hectic, loud and also enjoyable and as is usually the case in these circumstances, far too much cake and mince pies were eaten. All the grandchildren liked there presents, particularly Max who was dumbstruck, (a rare feat in itself, as he is known at home My his mum as chairman mouth!) at the buildings I’d made for him. The girls also, liked their presents too, particularly the jewellery we had bought them, Ava had a necklace and Evie a pair of earrings, they both had to ware them straight away. Tomorrow will be a very quiet affair, as it will be just Sheila and I. After having done numerous shindigs for the festive period over the years, it will be a nice change to be able to sit and relax in peace and tranquillity of just the two of us, bliss! So I’ll sign of by wishing everyone a merry Christ-moose.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) so, after tea, youngest Herbert, her indoors and myself left Dr Eldest Herbert home alone ( he has something like 100 scripts to mark over Christmas). At our first pub we met one or two people we know. We then went onto another pub and met loads of people we know...too much beer and talking but it is great to see people and talk over how they are doing. I am now enjoying a glass of Camerons' Strongarm and I would like to pass on our best wishes to all ERs, Thoughts are with Debs and her dad along with all others who are suffering today. Enjoy whatever you do and, as Dave Allen used to say, may your God be with you. Baz Edited December 25, 2017 by Barry O

RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 25, 2017 Thoughts and wishes to Deb. Wife's nephew has come south from Edmonton (north, even, of Calgary) to southern Ontario. He and his mother are supposed to come over tomorrow. Mate from railway club came over today and I got a railway item (possibly the only one) as present. I gave him a vacuum picker-upper that I hope he can use to retrieve windows that have fallen into Kitmaster coaches.
Coombe Barton
Debs sends here sincere thanks and best wishes. She is tired, very much so, but is sticking in there for her parents. Their conditions I think can best be described as 'Serious". I have just relayed messages to here as I think she needs something supportive to read during the anxious insomniac hours. Debs latest message has incorporated the phrase 'Tomorrow is another country'. Debs has an inner strength that I certainly don't have. I have only met Debs electronically, as have most of us here. And from me, many thanks for allowing me to send stuff on. As you do, I think it's important that, however we can, we let her know that they're not alone, and more especially at this time of the year. Merry Christmas to one and all.
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 25, 2017 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; the stockings are swaying, the creature's are hiding, as round the house the wind it is howling. A good night's sleep was had, helped by a generous quantity of Highland Park. I was woken by the howling wind, which s expected to increase, it was around 0:400 but I laid there for around an hour. My back and left elbow still complaining from concrete mixing on Saturday. Today plans... Do as little as possible, I hope you all have a happy and healthy Christmas.

RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2017 Merry Xmas all. I have been up since 5am as usual but no presents to unwrap as I had mine from my other half a few weeks ago. A Farish class 20 that she bought me at the Manchester show. Just had a cup of tea and a mince pie which should keep me going till breakfast. It’s raining hard here in Glasgow but hoping that will ease when we move hotels later. Reason for moving hotels is that I needed two different stays to keep the hotel chain sliver status for next year as we haven’t had so many nights away this year as in the past. After that we shall go for a walk and a couple of lunchtime beers.
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2017 Good morning and a merry Christmas to all. Yes we are awake here! There is no timetable for Christmas lunch. Aditi and I want it to be a relaxing day so it will be served whenever it is ready. I don't really want to drive today so we will go to some nearby fields with Robbie. I am not sure how coordination works in dogs but he can run better than walk now. Tony
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) Morning all from a breezy village and a Happy Christmas to all and sundry. Good to see Mick (Skipepsi) bobbing in. Thoughts are very much with Debs and her parents. Just nice to know how much support she has on here and thanks to John for passing the messages on. The house here is tidy and the first table has been set, the other temporary extension will be put up later. Church this morning at 10am then we are going to call on our next door neighbour for a drink. This should be nice as we always used to call in and see Chris's parents for a mince pie and whisky (in my case) on our way home from church. Derek and Myra are no longer with us but Chris has now moved back into the house. It will be nice to restart what was a regular event. The invasion then starts and we are expecting to feed 13 including, hopefully, Beth's dad and step mum. Both of them have had a rough year health wise but they seem to have picked up over the last couple of weeks so we hope that they will make it. If not dinner will be taken to them. There are some book shaped parcels under the tree so I may well be found looking at them later on after the hordes depart. Best wishes to everyone. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 25, 2017 More tea required! Have a good Christmas everyone. The blackbirds are singing in our garden so they seem to be enjoying the day. If you need me I will be in the kitchen cooking most of the morning interspersed with present unwrapping and the odd glass of champagne. I hope that today sees improvements for all who are sick and ailing. Baz
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) Good morning and a Very Merry Christmas to you all, Slow start here as only Chris, Steve and myself were here overnight although neighbours visited. The main invasion and present opening saga won't begin until Nicki and the kids get here about 10.30ish along with SiL Steve and his Mum. Feeding time should be about 3.00 and will last as long as it lasts. Judging by the supplies in the QM Stores that could be until the middle of January! From discussions last night there's a very good chance that our friends from next door will be popping in for a drink or several later this evening. Chris is already busy in the kitchen and apparently there is nothing I can do to hinder so I'm having yet another cup of tea. I may pop back later if my hindrance is still rejected. Have a very good one and enjoy yourselves, Cheers, Bob. Edited December 25, 2017 by grandadbob
RMweb Premium Popular Post 45156 Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) Merry Christmas All Been a few days, and I am now three days behind, but I see that some of us are ailing at this festive season. So please accept my supportive wishes on this day of celebration. And that includes our Debs, who has really been through the mill this year, and has managed to find an inner strength which is totally awesome. I think that she must have a really strong faith to support this, which may well come from her Quaker upbringing. I had a Quaker colleague once, who had a very similar outlook but minus Debs' pawkish sense of humour. John, please pass on my best and most supportive wishes. Well, for Christmas, Santa has brought me a new camera - but he didn't bring any drivers or instructions - as usual, there is a short quick start guide in about fifty languages with three pages for each country, so I now know how to fit the battery and SD card (the shop said I needed a mini card, and sold me one and I got it set up to find it needs a standard one which I already had a couple in other devices) but messing with the menus and buttons seems to result in some poor results, and a lot of errors. Also, the drivers are not on a disc like they were. I guess a couple of hours on the net will sort things out, but not today. With only two, a turkey is a little on the ridiculous side, so a cook in the bag extra tasty chicken with all the trimmings and a prawn and smoked salmon starter of my own concotion will be on offer. We will probably phase the courses by the cookin time of each, so starter about 12.30, main on, then eaten about 2, with pud on and eaten about 3. Saves that bloated feeling from a huge meal over a short time. For me, the best of the Christmas TV shows was the one tucked away on Channel 5 about the Christmas lights in Bethlehem, which are masterminded by a team of five from Liverpool - it was very good indeed, and if you missed it, it's worth pulling it up on the watch again facilities. All that remains is to wish all my fellow ERs a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS Christmas Regards to All Stewart Edited December 25, 2017 by 45156

RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted December 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2017 Mawnin' awl, and once again, happy Christmas and all the very best for 2018 to you all. Especially, of course, to those of us having had rough times this year. May the coming year hold better news in store for you. Shift today doesn't start before 1638 hours, so in the meantime… …a bit of a recap of last night. With generous turnaround times had, I could play a bit with our destination texts! emt_911
Morning all. Damp with fine drizzle but there are no plans to venture out today. For some reason I haven't been able to get into the Christmas spirit this year. Duck for a change instead of turkey. I just hope that I have the timings right. MY thoughts are again with Debs and her dad as well as other ER's ailing and missing. Time for another coffee. A Happy and Healthy Christmas to everyone
