Good morning Judge, how are you today......? Happy Birthday.

Good morning to the rest of you groovy protoplasms. The boring borough checking in again on a POETS day. Hope our American ERs survived the great American turkey fest.

The saga of the offspring's damaged TV continues. Replacement delivered. 3 phone calls, 9 emails received containing identical return slips, an hour to actually get Hermes booked to pick up the damaged one yesterday........ He's still waiting. Meanwhile the bloody thing is blocking the hallway.

After doing b*gger all this week I have been drafted into being on standby tomorrow. That throws my first Warley trip in over a decade out the window. Oh well more beer tokens for me. My Millarville module is actually going to a regular exhibition. It's covering for 2 layouts that had to pull out at the last minute. So if you are bored and want a giggle I'll be at the Bexleyheath exhibition, Sunday Dec 10. @ Bexleyheath Academy, Grahame Rd, Bexleyheath (obviously) http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/125973-bexleyheath-model-rail-show-sunday-10th-dec/

Warning: shameless plug and actual modelling content.

Enjoy the weekend everyone. For those travelling to the NEC, have a safe journey.

Good morning all and firstly greetings to JD - Many Happy Returns Your Honour!   :drinks:

In a week's time I will be 5 years behind you.

Thank you young man. "Your Worship" was my correct title but I'm retired now and so it's back to "Oih you!".

It would seem we are fellow members of the Sagittarius star sign.

Keep safe, regards, John.

Morning all,

Happy Birthday to JD.

And no commiserations to NHN for not being able to get to Warley - it is rather like a sort of mixture of the curate's egg and Marmite I think but it's one you have to tolerate for the enjoyable parts particularly meeting of old friends and otherwise electronic acquaintances plus the chance to fight your way to the front and see some good layouts plus an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and maybe talk to various folk in the trade.  After which you fight your way onto a train - in my case a Voyager which I presume qualifies as a train because it runs on rails.  Anyway it's a day out and having missed out last year I'm almost looking forward to it, er sort of.

Talking of supermarket trolleys parked while their pushers partake of the establishment's eating facility it was noticeable in Waitrose yesterday that there was a considerable, and very badly marshalled, park of such things.  Not in itself unusual but the odd thing was that 5 of the trolleys were empty.  Were the pushers too idle to walk back outside to get a trolley after they'd partaken of commestibles or were others too idle to walk round taking stuff off shelves and had instead emptied a trolley?  One of life's mysteries.

Today I understand we are going to be all grown up and are off to see 'Paddington 2'.

Enjoy your day.

What about those persons sat on the seat on the righthand side of the picture? Could they have not made an effort to help this lady? Not another case of "don't get involved, let her die, nothing to do with us"?

Our BMW has heated handlebar grips, but it doesn't come out in winter.  The aged winter hack has 6v electrics and not a watt to spare!

attachicon.gifP1020199.jpg

My last Vincent had 6 volt electrics. In true Mysteron fashion it would throw a ring of light onto the road, nothing in the middle and nothing on the outside. I converted these electrics to 12 volts with new lamps, an electronic regulator and a battery. I left on, what was a new 6V horn which had only been used at the M.O.T. test and never since.

That old XL has LED lamps wherever possible, an expensive, specialised 6v halogen main beam proved not able to stand the vibration yet a conventional lamp can - odd.  The 'light' appears out of the headlamp and hits the road with a thump about six feet ahead.  I don't ride it in the dark unless I really, really have to!  Mysterons - now there's a memory!

Happy Birthday - easier to quote the post to add my congratulations than trying to locate the last message!

Cheers Peter

I promise I have looked in my meagre book collection and online but before I go out of ERs and ask perhaps someone here may know. I recall being helped about the Princess Coronation class liveries. However this is about the Princess Royal class in BR days (not preserved). I have 2 models of Hornby's Princess Arthur of Connaught. I would like to renumber one that was also maroon. My internet searches indicate Princess Arthur, The Princess Royal, and two others. Does anyone know what the two others painted maroon were?

Thanks

Tony

In one book I have there is a photograph of 46208 in maroon in 1962.  The book shows photos of all the other locos of that class, taken around that time, and by then only the two you mentioned are also in maroon.

Morning, Black Friday here - and like any sane, sensible persons we are NOT going anywhere near any shops today! May buy a couple of things online, but that's it.

Yesterday was very fun and enjoyable with the entire family pitching in to make the feast. Veritable amounts of food and wine consumed and an enjoyable chat/nap had by all.

attachicon.gifThanksgiving-2017.jpg

Jemma and Whitney decided to stay over - easier than driving home, so this morning at a "sensible hour" we prepared eggs benedict for breakfast.

Lazy day follows and I WILL do some modeling :jester:  :jester:  :jester:

Warmed up some here with +8 this morning and a high of +16 expected! Way warmer than average, too weird...

Have a great Friday and start of the weekend, I look forward to reports from the "show" from those attending and exhibiting.

I have to ask:

Did the turkey take the picture?

I have to ask:

Did the turkey take the picture?

Yes he did - that's him/me at the head of the table :)

(I've a Bluetooth shutter button "thing" so am able to take pictures remotely with the camera - technology at its finest ;)

Oh, and we departed fro the truly traditional, and had a Ham instead of turkey, this is to allow ME to have turkey at Christmas, something that only happens about every 10 years but even though I've been over here seemingly forever, I do miss Christmas turkey dinner!

Note: The family refuses to have turkey for BOTH occasions as they are too close together - that's their excuse anyway!
