Morning all and it's a sunny one here today.

Just waiting for the Man from Del Monte to do his thing (fingers crossed); no pressure or tension chez nous whatsoever!

Some modelling is on the cards if no other duties are assigned.

Safe journey home, Jamie.

Have a nice day everyone. Andy

Engineering or MODELLING?

Definitely engineering.

Mainly materiel and measuring equipment, but there is always room for expansion.

However, sometimes the simple things give the most pleasure, especially those that are used frequently.

One of my favourite bits of kit is an optical centre punch.

Morning.  OF bike club morning, there's a group over coming to visit the club with a load of kit-built 3 wheelers, sort of Morgan replicas, so.....it's raining. #sigh#  One member has a Moto-Guzzi powered version (I see Debs ears prick up - as ex Guzzi rider!) and the UK based club decided on a run here to meet him!  Very social you know, us bikers.

Little of note otherwise, next door's extension builders are using electric tools in the rain.....maybe that's why it has taken 15 months so far to build a modest expansion to the bungalow.  The koi pond is full of dust from the grinder now - grrrr.

.....I am off to Stoke Mandible for the weekend to attend Scaleforum.  I am looking forward to meeting the proprietrix of the bed and breakfast where I have stayed for the past four shows.  We have only ever spoken on the phone!

Might she grant you a discount for being a regular guest?

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Nice and sunny here this morning but definitely an autumn chill in the air first thing. It appears the slug must have been alone as theres no evidence of any others. Thats it for now, be back later.

Morning all from a bright and sunny Hill of Strawberries. Rather fresh first thing but lovely now. I feel a riverside stroll may be called for.

Visited at short notice by friends from our days living in Beer. They were up staying with family and being just minutes away in Hampton Wick (not the place to live if you speak rhyming slang) they rang to see if we were home. We were actuallyin the Thai restaurant all of 75 yards from home so all was well, we finished our meal withou undue haste and were home in time for a quick relocation of dust and stray socks! A pleasant couple of hours passed which included opening some bottles of falling-down water.

Currently sat outside with coffee and chocolate biscuits plotting Plan B for tomorrow. We are off to visit Mother spliced with a visit to Worthing MRC's exhibition and the Kernow MRC stand thereat. Sister was due to chauffeur us arond and feed us before we returned but has come down with vertigo and has declared herself a horse de combat. I suspect the local bus company and taxi firms might benefit.

Best wishes to all. I may be offline tomorrow.

Leeds, twined with Tel Aviv.   :jester:   :sungum:

iirc Leeds is twinned with Ulan Bator

while I was a student there the socialist workers led a student union motion to twin Leeds with Tripoli in solidarity with Khaddafi. The LUU passed the motion.

Remember that rain I mentioned?  It has redoubled its efforts!  Only half of the 3 wheelers braved it, the rest got the bus!  One Guzzi powered (not the local one) and the rest 2CV powered Lomaxes I think.  A little Ford car of some kind and a JBA kit car too arrived.  Photos soon. In the rain.

It says here that Uber have been denied an operating licence by TfL. Cue lengthy Court challenge! *rolls eyes*

This despite all Uber drivers in the TfL area holding TfL private hire licences which have to be worn.

Some of the cars on a very wet Ramsey prom (tiddly pom...) this morning in between deluges.

Debs may remember the awkward distributor on her Guzzi, it is a bit more accessible on this one. The smart money is on electronic ignition nowadays to save wresting with points, it wouldn't surprise me if her Debship had made that upgrade on the Le Mans.

In the short term, since these licences appear to be granted on an individual basis to each driver, rather than the overall one that Uber would otherwise have held, the individual drivers will have to consider whether or not they can transfer to other cab companies (Addison Lee or Yellow Cabs, for example?) if they can no longer "work with" Uber.

Afternoon awl,

Feeling slightly stuffed after the free buffet lunch, didn't eat a lot but, it was more than my normal single Sarnie and apple.

A pair of traffic lights has appeared on the A47 Acle straight, according to the local paper they have not been authorised by either Norfolk County council or the Highways agency. Further on they are rebuilding a major Roundabout in Great Yarmouth. The combination is causing huge traffic jams!!

There is a good chance I may not annoy you lot tomorrow, a 320mile round trip to Rotherham and back for me.

In the meantime I'm measuring 20G Ohms if i move more than a inch or two the readings change and I have to wait for them to settle again.

see you some time

Pro tem Uber continues "as is" pending appeal.  There is already a very strong feeling emerging among the younger sections of London society that the decision is a kick in the teeth for students, low income earners and those who require late night / early morning transport away from the night bus network.  It is. of course, also a way to ensure the Mayor's tenure is restricted to one term if all 30,000 - 40,000 Uber drivers find themselves unable to earn anything.  Many have invested in late model hybrid Toyota Prius cars which need to be paid for.  SWMBO's ride to and from work is typically in a 16/66/17-reg Prius.

Lovely pictures, Neil. :good:

No such modifications were made to my `Guzzi {it was a 1978 'Spada' 1000, by the way}.......All that I may recall of my dealings with Italian electricery, was along the lines of trying to keep it dry; as the merest hint of rain would make the otherwise beautiful machine go into a sulk.

Italians and electrical circuits don't mix, as generations of Alfa drivers will no doubt confirm.....

Oh, I thought you had a Lemon, Debs - my mistake!  I almost bought a Spada 3 when they came out, but the seat was not to my liking at all.  A friend had a late Cale (3?) which was a dream to ride, a cruiser that handled!  I'd still love a MKII Le Mans, but my hip (and wrists and foot!) say otherwise.
