Cheers, GB. I could use a circular saw if you can face an amputation? ;)

The untold damage of letting GDB loose with a circular saw.... its not worth thinking about.....

Horsetan

I use an Exacto No1 knife fitted with a chisel blade for taking off the ribs on the outside of Bachmann Mk1 coach roofs. Simple and effective....

BUT NOT TO BE TRIED BY GDB.. I look forward to seeing him whole at Swindon Steam show...

That reminds me.

I meant to clean the blood off mum's kitchen floor before I came home.

Tiredness has made me forgetful.

Mind you, by looking at the blood splatters I should be able to figure out how she manged to do it!

Like others I rather miss Ian and Sherry's contributions to these pages. :(

We managed to successfully deliver Matthew to Stansted. The "put £3.50 in" the machine to get out of the 10 minute drop off lane seemed to be too difficult for some people. Much getting out of cars and running about.

I found a letter waiting when we returned home from our house and contents insurer inviting us to ring them to discuss our future needs. So I did and told them to not renew it. I didn't change it last year (cant remember why!) and we were paying a ridiculous amount.

Now set up with a better policy, considerably cheaper (and not because of an introductory discount either).

I did think I had purchased all the locomotives (unless someone produced a model of the Fell) I wanted but I had forgotten about the big green and red engines that Hornby are releasing soon(ish).

I'm currently using a Swann-Morton no.11 blade on a plain handle.

Back to the dog SWMBO has been shown a Welsh Boarder Collie at a dog shelter which she likes, she has also change her tune and has agreed to look after next

doors two Retrievers for a day next week guess who will be walking them.

BTW don't encourage him to use sharp tools I'd prefer to see him in one piece for the next show.  :nono:

..........

I noticed a fellow ER has noted the continuing absence of Ian (OD) and Sherry (Ashcombe). I do hope that does not mean there is bad news there. I have also missed out on their updates. When I was holidaying in Brixham, Sherry very kindly sent me a PM with details of some recommended places to eat. They do seem two of the world's nicest people.........

Night all

Someone decided to snipe Ian about a month ago. He might have decided to give ER a miss for a while. If so, I know how he feels.[/i]

Bill

If that is true then it is a great shame. As Andy said, two of the nicest people.

Agreed. It was the tone of Ian's posts that was one of the things that attracted me to ERs in the first place.

I looked forward to his reports of domestic misbehaviour and uninhibited rural quickies in la France profonde....

Ian and I are humbled by the kind comments received publicly and privately and wish to assure you of our continued good health. Both of us were unhappy about certain responses around the time of the UK election and the Grenfell Tower tragedy so decided to opt out of Early Risers for the time being.

Thank you for your concern and support.

Edited to acknowledge comments from AndyB and Danemouth, too. Thank you.

I was starting to enjoy Martin's escapades too.

Though older readers may recall the horse in Gordon S's shed (allegedly). Those were the days...

...one consequence of having a mobile specialist paramedic visit was that they are unable to economically recycle the tools of their trade - these go straight for incineration.

When the paramedic asked if I did any sewing, of course the answer was "Yes. And I dabble with a bit of miniature modelling, too."

"Fine, you can have these really sharp scissors, tweezers and clamps then."

After a short nap it occurred to me what GrandadBob has been doing all these years.

He's been self-harming to equip an entire workshop!   :jester:

You can almost hear the thought process....

"Right, for this next job I'll need clamps, files and a drill. What kind of surgical procedure calls for all those items of kit? Got it, trepanning. Now, how to create the appropriate injury to justify that.....got it....standing up underneath an open cupboard door....here goes.....ouch, damn and blast.....ring ring.....sorted!"

I now think of him every time I wield that scalpel, knowing full well that the odds of stabbing yourself with it are increased.

Oi you lot - I am here you know. Any more of this and I might develop a complex.  FYI I do own a circular saw and have not (yet) self harmed with it. Yet.

Buggrit! You guessed my little secret!

And there was me imagining the scene from the old Bond movie where the circular saw is advancing towards a certain delicate part of his anatomy.

I remember the laser, however I had to Google the circular saw incident.

Evening.

Ian and Sherry missed here too - and Martin, in a French accent. 'Mar-tan'.

MGP practice finally got under way tonight, the classic 500's blasting through Ramsey cheered me up.  Proper racebikes.

Mojo still missing, although some thought has been given to demolishing my NH layout and re-using the boards for SR 3rd rail/steam urban grot type layout.

Mortgage not due to be paid out for some years yet. But looking forward to the day.

Got into trouble over thistles recently. Described them as having a "distintively thistulate shape" in front of SWMBO. She who is in a senior position at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in case you forgot. "There is no such word as Thistulate" she grumped. "OK then" says this brave soul not knowing when to keep his mouth shut "they are thistular" .......

Misty greyness gave way to very humid brightness and just a moment of sun. I can't see whether the sun is still out because it's dark and it's raining.

At least the humidity has gone. And so must I. Off to mother's in the morning and back with nephew and partner in tow. Night all. Sleep well.
