RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 22, 2017 Morning Peeps GDB won't let on to me about his purchase later in the year all I know is that it's not a steam engine I believe the turncoat my mate has started to buying a fleet of desesal things after all the coaching I've given him in the finer points of the GWR steam, PAH Erm Bob mate, you seem to have missed the teensy weensy clue I left for you earlier - has your temporary Wifeitus blindness not gone away yet? A decision was made yesterday and a pre-order made for something which is due later this year. The other something has been put on the back burner for now as all my pre-orders for the next few months were already over four figures and a line has to be drawn somewhere. The decision was helped by grandson Joe who thinks steam engines look much better than diesels. I must admit that I cannot disagree with that. To clarify I have ordered (especially to keep in your good books ) something that is steam, green, GWR and we stood on its footplate last year at Swindon. ( And will probably do so again in a couple of weeks time.) There has been a lot of criticism elsewhere about this model but I like it and if it's not perfect then it will fit in very nicely with my layout which is so wrong that the purists could publish several volumes about it.
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2017 How does a sheepdog become a champion? I have heard of sheepdog trials but as none ended up in jail I had assumed they were found not guilty.
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2017 Oh Sheep dogs can be guilty... And they know they are, without you telling them, that Sheepish look is well known.... I'm not too sure what is required for a Border collie to become a trials champion. However they are unusual in that to become a champion in the show ring they required to have won 3 championship shows, but must have passed a basic herding trial as well to become a full champion.. https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/activities/show-border-collie-herding-test/ There is also Agility champion, field trials champion (gun dogs)

RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 22, 2017 Morning all, Bit dreary outside but no fog - just as well as herself has set sail for the big city to the east to meet a friend from Canada and take tea at the Savoy. In stark contrast the friend will be visiting us on Thursday so not exactly the Savoy but i have been asked instructed to do certain 'tidying' (i.e. putting things in places where I can't find them when i want them). Our sycamores look a long way from the leaves turning although the leaves on the second hazel are starting to yellow as are some on the cherry while the oak has been suffering its annual viral problem for a couple of weeks so will need attention to remove the fading leaves (they go white/pale grey). Horse chestnuts round here have had the leaves going brown for over a month now but that is down to the nasty Leaf Miner rather than anything to do with the seasons. Tremendous news from Debs for those not on Farcebook as she's off to the hospital to collect John. Enjoy you day one and all.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2017 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bit late on parade this morning, spent too long soaking in the bath. Glad to see that those puppies were not dumped and were escapees and that they got back home. Bye for now, back later.

RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 22, 2017 I feel better than earlier as just paid a chunk of the mortgage off. One more call in the next few weeks and then there wil be no mortgage. Means more modelling tokens. However I already have too much stock and need to get rid of quite a lot as I doubt they wil ever get used.

At that moment the boiler gave up and I had just committed to new double glazing, and we had problems with the guttering and roof. Easy come, easy go!

Horsetan
.....I already have too much stock and need to get rid of quite a lot .... *hollow laughter* Meanwhile, armed with a razor-sharp scalpel, I've started shaving all that moulded detail from the Revell Br.43 boiler. With any luck, it'll all be removed by some time next year......

RMweb Premium AndyB Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2017 Afternoon all. It was a foggy start to the at 01:20 when several of the phones in the house started ringing in succession, triggered by my mum's emergency pendant. Some 5 years, almost to the day, the ambulance crew who got to her (in under 4 minutes) found her lying where we'd found dad, unable to get up. She was sporting a large gash in her leg having stumbled and caught it on a wicker basket. The lads did a brilliant job staunching the blood and cleaning the wound, and gave us the option of an exhausting all-night trip to A&E, or waiting at home for a specialist paramedic to come on shift and stitch her up. We opted for the latter, and at around 06:30 the promised specialist attended, needle and thread in hand. A massive thank you to the paramedics who treated her with such kindness and humanity. RMweb Premium AndyB Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2017 ...one consequence of having a mobile specialist paramedic visit was that they are unable to economically recycle the tools of their trade - these go straight for incineration. When the paramedic asked if I did any sewing, of course the answer was "Yes. And I dabble with a bit of miniature modelling, too." "Fine, you can have these really sharp scissors, tweezers and clamps then." After a short nap it occurred to me what GrandadBob has been doing all these years. He's been self-harming to equip an entire workshop! You can almost hear the thought process.... "Right, for this next job I'll need clamps, files and a drill. What kind of surgical procedure calls for all those items of kit? Got it, trepanning. Now, how to create the appropriate injury to justify that.....got it....standing up underneath an open cupboard door....here goes.....ouch, damn and blast.....ring ring.....sorted!" Cheers, GB. I could use a circular saw if you can face an amputation?
RMweb Gold BoD Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 22, 2017 I noticed a fellow ER has noted the continuing absence of Ian (OD) and Sherry (Ashcombe). I do hope that does not mean there is bad news there. I have also missed out on their updates. When I was holidaying in Brixham, Sherry very kindly sent me a PM with details of some recommended places to eat. They do seem two of the world's nicest people. Someone decided to snipe Ian about a month ago. He might have decided to give ER a miss for a while. If so, I know how he feels. Bill If that is true then it is a great shame. As Andy said, two of the nicest people.
The Lurker
If that is true then it is a great shame. As Andy said, two of the nicest people. Agreed. It was the tone of Ian's posts that was one of the things that attracted me to ERs in the first place.
