RMweb Premium 45156 Posted August 15, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 15, 2017 Good afternoon. I'm about to go shopping and drop some books at Oxfam, which is opposite a 'spoons so a pint may be taken. The one I work in as a volunteer has the staff emergency exit opening onto the back yard of Lancaster's (now only) 'spoons. However, the public entrance is some metres away just round the corner.
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted August 15, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 15, 2017 But only if the DNA is already on the database.....I di think of that but of course in a relatively rural location you might well get a familial hit which should narrow it down. If the locals have anything about them they should have a fairly small list of suspects, however if my old lot were in charge it would be filed as undetectable by now. RMweb Premium 45156 Posted August 15, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 15, 2017 Good to hear that some of our number are reporting good news on the employment front - Flavio and DM - good luck to you both in your endeavours. GDB - great that Steve is still progressing. Back tomorrow.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 15, 2017 Brain have you had the pleading letter from the taxman yet... with 3 pensions it has stretched their ingenuity to the limit... Baz Easy peasy Baz - perhaps you ought to tell them, like this (in my case) 1. Pension No.1 is the state pension which has its own tax allowance built in 2, Pension No.2, which comes from a different place of course, gets any leftover allowance from Pension No. 1 and is taxed accordingly. 3. Pension No. 3 Comes from yet another place and is also dealt with by a different tax office from the other two but all is nice and simple as it is taxed at Basic Rate (the same would apply to any subsequent pension of course). It would only get complicated if you tip into the 40% tax band and all the pensions are dealt with by different tax offices but there is (unfortunately) an easy answer to that as you simply (ha ha) fill in an annual Self Assessment form and the loser (either you or HMRC) pays money to the winner (either HMRC or you). Oh and to make it all as simple as possible Pension No.2 has to be your largest pension and Pension No.1 has to be your state pension.

These days they do manage to decide on the principal HMRC office and they take over all the pensions as one unit and decide which one to take the most tax from. Horsetan
Started the new Probate case and am beginning to lose the will to live due to the vast files of paperwork left by the deceased, going back years (he specialised in financial consultancy). His widow also wants to update her own Will now that he has gone. Think I'll get the scalpel out and start shaving some of the moulded detail off that Revell Br.43 kit when I get home. That's the thing with German engines: all that external pipework, and you're never quite sure where all of it goes. Fortunately 43.001 still exists at Chemnitz, but even here the various photographers who have taken snaps of it over the years have favoured only a few front three-quarter angles, and virtually no broadsides or clear views of the tender (which I think is designated as a 2'2' T32). The Lurker
I wish you well with this. Our middle child (C2) is full blown autistic, so much so that he's not able to understand he's different. Luckily the other two (C1 & C3) have been more than fantastic with him and us, over the years accepting unscheduled changes to plans to accommodate C2's behaviour and needs. If you've not heard of / read the letter 'Welcome to Holland', or read 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time', I would recommend both to Young Lurker. Stu Edit : Please read the "10 things By Ellen Notbohm" in the comments below the letter 'Welcome to Holland' - they are really, really appropriate. Thanks for this - we have the "Curious Incident" book, but I have never come across the Welcome to Holland letter. It puts a good perspective on things, and is certainly what we went through when he was first diagnosed. And the 10 things list is good too, I have seen it before but it is a useful reminder. He actually coped really well with a 2 1/2 week holiday to Canada (in particular, we saw loads of supercars, his latest special interest, in Vancouver) but the last few days were probably too much for him; being reminded of the 10 things list would have helped us help him. As far as I know Baz the state pension is taxable and they just take more of your allowance off pension No 2. I'm in a similar position as I get my State Pension in a couple of months and I've been told that my tax code will fall by the amount of the OAP. Popular Post andyram
Good afternoon all and congrats to our newly employed member. Thank you to everyone for the good wishes. It has been an enjoyable day so far. A couple of trips on the GCR behind the Standard 2 78018, an all day breakfasts and a pint later in the day - what is not to like? As mentioned earlier, today kicks off three successive days of railway visits with a planned visit to the Churnet Valley tomorrow and a working day at the GC on Thursday. In the mean time here are a few pictures from today.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted August 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 15, 2017 This evening looks like Ike Southern services attempting to compete with SWT due to various incidents including signalling and trespass issues. A London Bridge to Victoria stopper departed before our late running service running non stop to Victoria with hardly anyone on it, no surprise. Our train packed and East Croydon station also packed so looks like we are lucky to be around ten late. Home tonight to work on Trevone, hopefully. My other half is quite happy when I am doing modelling as it keeps me quiet and out of her way whilst she cooks and then watches TV.

Jamie I haven't go my state pension.. another 6 years before that arrives. HMRC have sent me a list of how much "tax free" is on each of my 3 private pensions plus any other money earned (zero tax allowance). I do fill in self assessments but I may just get my accountant to do the 2017/18 return. Baz
