On GDB - I was worried when I read he had obtained some replacement trellis, expecting that might serve up a mishap. Who knew he'd just walk into a wall instead!!! :jester:

We need to start a go-fund-me web site to arrange for a padded cell house I fear?!?!?! Take it easy out there GDB.

May the Fourth be with you - yeah, I know, late as always given I'm on the left side of the pond <sigh>

BIN day and those items dutifully at the kerb. I WAS going to do the deed myself, but either the Mrs or some gremlins apparently handled that task last night! :O

Off in 20 minutes as taxi driver.

The Mrs is going to see a retinal specialist regarding following her visit to the opticians a couple of weeks back. Nothing of concern, simply that she has some "occasional clouds" in her vision apparently, and contrary to urban myth, which suggests any surgery to correct the issue doesn't work for sh!t, all the professionals involved confirm it's simple AND effective, so off to see the specialist we go.

The reason for a taxi driver is that this involves severe dilation - more so than the usual sight check - and a ride back is required.

Other than that, another regular day working.

'Tis a lovely day here already 11 sunny and crystal clear skies, high expected to be 20.

Just had my weekly visit from old feller two houses around, civic duties!  The younger neighbours are mostly never seen.

19c here today, lovely and sunny but still got that blustery south-easterly that is spoiling things.

Physio appointment made for me, almost two weeks away - wasted time, I want to start NOW!  Really annoying as I am ahead of the expected recovery timescale curve by almost 4 weeks, and half that time is going to be lost due to inaction.  My little toddle on crutches around the circle of houses we live in this afternoon has shown however, it's not fixed yet by a long chalk.

Good to hear that you are out and about a little and sound a bit more cheerful.*

Heed the warning signs though, don't try to overdo things otherwise you might not stay ahead of the game.

* you do. Honest.

Well the faux Friday really did involve train spotting - for the information of train spotters anonymous the total was 5 HSTs, a Turbo, and two proper trains, one with a (Freightliner) Class 70 and one with a Class 59 (German livery).

In further developments time has been granted to attend Rivermead on Saturday (not that I've told her the price of admission or that there will be some very 'attractive' trade stands which mean mean taking a 'smuggling' bag, or two).

Yes thank you, the black cloud of a fortnight ago has lifted a lot, I kicked the black dog's ar$e out of the door.   Plodding around the street once was my target for today, achieved and that's it for 24 hours - this sort of thing is self-policing, it is one of the most painful injuries you can have.  Luckily, my surgeon is well on board with the issues, as he has had it himself.  Much more sympathy than usually displayed by orthopaedic surgeons!  He only did one metatarsal displaced and broken (I managed all 5 - if you're going to do something....) but he understands only too well the issues M. Lisfranc wrote about in Napoleon's time when he first described the injury.

I have just been having a smirk at the troll thread, having noticed someone I have seen trolling regularly posting in it!

She didn't. A reporter for The Sun (Brittany Vonow) heard of the fairly standard meeting, put two and two together and made five, and then dummied a story. Which she then published on the website...

BBC said earlier this morning that "Senior staff had been called to an emergency meeting" honest guv I didnt make it up.

The last helmet I owned for race use was covered in stickers on the back. Everyone guaranteed that it was strictly built to one standard or another. Of course “stickers” applied by Photoshop have an even easier time.

I should really leave Joseph Heller dependent jokes to another Forum.....

Best, Pete.

I was querying  the irony if the person seated behind had a thought about the stickers.

I really wanted to know this.

I doubt you'll have time to estimate the length of the endoscope cable on the spool before you go under. Better that way.

I don't think the ones entering from above do loop the loops. When I have mine (from the lower entrance! ) they discuss pain management and sedation prior to the procedure. I go for conscious and no pain. Even "conscious" is relaxed conscious though!

My gag reflex would prevent it being fully conscious. Edited by Ozexpatriate

Afternoon awl,

The NDR road works struck again, this time we not only had a convoy of truck go across when it was our turn to forward, an ambulance under blues went through. A very long wait...

All the kerbing is now in place for the roundabout some approaching tarmac has been laid, it can't be long now...

The motor scooter was collected, a very cold gusty cross wind on the way back, every time I passed a gap in the hedge the wind tried to blow me across the road. The air temperature gauge on the bike registered a massive 9C..

Time for tea...

This has definitely being going on for too long.  I just went through to the kitchen, hopping with the zimmer frame.  It has become such a habit not to put my left foot down, now I can (a bit) I'm not doing so!  :banghead:

I think that is better than forgetting and putting too much weight on it.

Isn't that similar to casting iron? But a little more weight to it? :dontknow:

:jester:

More like casting a fishing line. You don't know what you will end up with.

Neil. Having had several separate types of physiotherapy over the years, I know how tempting it is to push yourself, it's best to do what the physiotherapist says (when you've actually seen them) and no more. It may well undo all the good work that's been done.

I hope to be there myself if the train can get from Taunton to Reading

Back from the eye surgeon consult - surgery scheduled in June for the Mrs, should fix the "floaters".

They do one eye at a time, obvious reasons, and apparently often patients are satisfied having the worst "offender" corrected that they don't bother with/need the other eye done. Very routine stuff, out-patient, blah, blah, so all sorted and scheduled for mid-June - could have been done next Wednesday but ban on flying for a week+ after the surgery so since she's joining me on Long Island for a few days starting next Friday, it has to wait...

Forgot one thing about today - we returned to discover we were one grand piano short, it was moved today to its new home.

Bloody living room seems HUGE now as it's been 17 years since it's been piano free! :O  :jester:

There are already designs on the space - NOT railway related unfortunately - and the Mrs can now contemplate exactly how she is going to arrange it...

On with the day, and work, work, work.

If you can't behave I'll be compelled to tell you about my complications there and trust me no one really wants to hear about those. ;)

And quite frankly I preferred sedation there too.

Propofol is not the same general anesthesia drugs - I have heard it called conscious sedation, but you don't remember or feel a thing. It does not have the same after-effects as general anesthesia. There can be complications but properly supervised I've had positive experiences with it.

Timely advice there Brian.

I had my first visit to the physioterrorist on Wednesday and was given a series of simple exercises to help unfreeze my shoulder.

20 reps of passing a light object behind my back, 20 reps of lifting my arm.....Very tempting to think that 40 reps would be twice as good; it isn't.

I'll be taking your advice and doing exactly what I'm told!

Is feeling glum despite a nice sunny day. (It is supposed to rain later though with possibility for thunderstorms, which are quite rare here.)

I've been spending too much time looking at the news lately. Politics are off-piste here so I won't go on but this morning's executive order and the vote scheduled in the house is getting me down.

What I should do is go sort out some wiring problems I seem to have.

You're feeling glum? I'm feeling so glum that I think I'll change my name to Rodney (or Dave)

What a plonker!

Gordon S posted similar pictures some time ago and then the links to the padded baseball cap he purchased. Perhaps they do a Kevlar lined one nowadays.

Oh yes, I know from after my hip surgery - no more and no less than told!

Evening all from Estuary-Land. I'm surprised that there has been no mention of the Bexley Beer Festival here on ER's especially as several ER's hail from those parts. It opened today and runs until Saturday. Also in the news, Tomorrows World is coming back, no further details as yet but I'm keeping an eye open.
