emt_911
Some research and some modelling completed tonight. This must be some sort of record this year. An ER tomorrow with hopefully an early finish which will mean actually being able to attend MRC. Night all
Ozexpatriate
Hopefully not the same visit! I've had both in the same visit - though under sedation (using Propofol, sometimes called milk of amnesia by nurses). Properly supervised, Propofol is effective. They administered it just in time before the gag reflex kicked in during the fitting of an oral appliance to guide the upper GI endoscope. I'm not keen on colonoscopies. For me there have been some side effects that go in the TMI category. The prep beforehand is nasty too. Fare thee well Ivan.
Ian Abel
I've had two one end and one the other. Top down was difficult. Both at other end made good TV! Same here, the latter that is. Brings a certain truth/insight to the phrase "...sticking/having your head up your arse..." Edited May 3, 2017 by Ian Abel
RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted May 3, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2017 I've not worn pyjamas since I was a kid, so I first went for an op some time ago, I just bought pyjama bottoms with which I can wear any T shirt I like! Andy. I've had 2 frozen shoulders, both were fixed through surgery and I've now got back practically all my movement. However, sometimes I can't reach that itch that I get right between the shoulder blades. When I had a colonoscopy I was sedated, but I fell asleep during the procedure, so it couldn't have been that bad, it was just a little uncomfortable. Ozexpatriate
Today is our warmest since last September. After what feels like a very long time waiting for Spring temperatures to arrive, today is over the 80°F / 27°C mark without yet registering a single area high-temperature in the 70s (21° - 27°C). Despite some cool morning fog, the afternoon has been sunny and delightful. We did get to 69°F / 20°C on our previous "nice day" a couple of weeks ago. Time to go home earlier than usual I think.
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2017 Men in Sheds -- in Terry Pratchett's last book The Shepherd's Crown. Yes, the traditional route of the Canadian was through Calgary and Banff. One of the Governments chopped railway service way down and the train was moved to the other railway. Some talk about it serving more cabinet ministers' ridings. I took 2/3 pail of dandelions out of the little bit of front lawn today. The landlord says that they'll do something abut them when the city approves an effective herbicide. I did a bit of modeling today. Put together 3 Coopercraft platform benches. Also found my GWR coach colour paint -- what makes thinner for traditional Humbrol?
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 4, 2017 Good morning all, Dry start and a mild 9oC. It is alleged it will be mainly cloudy with the chance of some light patchy rain and a brisk north easterly wind making it feel cool for the time of the year/ Good-oh! Another bin day today and still some of the neighbours can't seem to get their heads around which ones to put out. Of course they may have been confused by the waste collection people over the last couple of weeks who also seem to be confused. I think. I'm into double figures with "oscopies" - 3 down the throat and at least 8 t'other end over the last 20 years. I usually fall asleep apart from one of the latter where I think they were trying to insert the fire hose. A bit more muddling done yesterday, hopefully more today after a shopping trip. Also expecting a delivery of a replacement piece of garden trellis which will need fixing at some stage. Have a good one, Bob.
emt_911
Morning all. A miserable grey start to the day which may see me getting wet later on. A trip to Watford (again) but at least it should result in the required early finish. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
chrisf
Good morning one and all Last night's concert was not particularly well attended. I had forgotten that Benji Kirkpatrick produced an album of reworked Hendrix songs and bought a copy but as a singer-songwriter [him, not me, obviously] I fear that he does not excel. There was an interesting conversation concerning one who does excel, who is returning to the UK in October and who is looking for small venues in which to play. I wonder if anything will come of it? Dear me, it is Thursday already and I have again overlooked the need to put out my recycling bin. There will be time after I have bathed but clearly my forgettery is not functioning properly. I blame the bank holiday, which never helps me know what day it is. What sort of pickle will I be in if four more are introduced after the election? I see that we are no further forward on the difference between a recital, a concert and a gig. Never mind, it will keep while there are important topics to discuss. I will pass on the subject of colonoscopies, thanks very much, since the two to which I have been subjected were not a success. You will not be surprised to learn that it was because I was too full of sh!t. On that happy note, warm thoughts to all in distress Chris
Wigan Wallgate OO Gauge
Over here in New Zealand we have been hearing speculation that either the Queen or Prince Philip have passed away over night. This would only be confirmed at 8:00 am GMT if it is true.

RMweb Premium TheQ Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2017 Morning Awl, another shortage of sleep, only 4.5 hours last night.... Going home was slow last night, as predicted the NDR roadworks traffic lights were causing chaos, 3 stops and move forwards before I got to go through. the lights are not helped by the fact there are a second set of lights inside the first, so you've just got green move forward a few feet then the second set go red to allow a earth mover to cross. hopefully you then get to go forward again, before some cockwomble doesn't notice and comes forward when they get green the other way and your stuck in the middle.. Then a couple of roads later I come up on a curve and see there are several people in the road holding a dog, a range rover on the grass with flashing hazards, a van on the road on my side with flashing hazards and two cars behind that. The third car cockwoble then decides to pull out into the slowing traffic coming the other way, to overtake, and has to pull in smartly in front of the van nearly hitting the people and the opposing traffic... words were said / shouted. Shortly after the van and remaining car moved off slowly. and I followed, someone was holding the shaking/ distressed dog by it's collar and another person was pointing at a house down a side road. A half a mile later we caught up with the cockwomble at another set of road works lights.... This morning less cloud cover, still a strong cold wind but with a bit more east in ti. Time to get back to work...

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2017 A sunny morning here, long may it last (but the garden needs a bit of water). No news on royals so far. Of course today "May the fourth be with you"-yep, it's Starwars day. Hope you all have a great day. Baz
Robert
Morning All, Slightly later on parade this morning - due to arriving at work slightly later. It is a very grey day in this part of the world. It looks like it might rain, but at the moment it is just misty. Time for a coffee, I think! Have a good day everyone...
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 4, 2017 Perhaps Liz and Phil, both coming from mainland European descent, have decided to sling their hook back to the Continent, having been disMayed by the current turn of political events here?

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2017 Morning All Could be on/off/on/off over the next few days, as my brodband is decidedly flaky again today (and last night too), and the phone line is also a bit dodgy - I have got a new hub somewhere, and also have ordered some new microfilters, so hopefully all will be back to normal soon. Off to Skipton this morning, to give Lily a birthday treat day out. Regards to All Stewart
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 4, 2017 No reports of early demise of any important personages have got north of Ikea at this time and the two most important ones are sitting on the settee with one watching telly and me typing this drivel. Good morning all. More time at the clubroom yesterday evening where I even ran some trains so didn't get much muddling done. The boss has just informed me that she's out most of the day so I'm off to the club once the streets are aired and will amuse myself for the day then off to Castleford to give a talk tonight. Interesting discussions about loneliness yesterday. It is a real problem. However I have always been quite happy with my own company (Other people may not be as happy with it) and with all my hobbies and interests never seem to have a problem filling my time. At work I was never a great socialiser with my colleagues off duty and had my own circle of friends outside the job which I felt helped me to maintain balance and perspective when work life got challenging. Those same sets of contacts, church, model railways, tram restoration etc have proved to be very reliable and supportive in troubled times. As a result retirement didn't cause me any great angst. However I did love my job. Regards to all. Jamie

RMweb Gold Donw Posted May 4, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 4, 2017 Rather grey here today. Commiserations to all those suffering or having cameras inserted this and that way. Memo to self I must stay healthy. When MiL was in her 80s with dementia I took her in for a colonoscopy the specialist had to discuss the options with me as she would not be able to understand. Although the investigation had confirmed the presence of small polyps he did not propose to operate. He assured me that given her age and condition she was more likely to die from something else first.. He was proved right as she lasted only six months more. Knowing that due to the Dementia she was finding it very difficult to cope with life and there was no pleasure in anything for her, I was glad of the decision he made.
