If you are so minded you can get new double glazed glass units made up apart from the size if the glass they also need to know the width of the spacer bars that hold the glass apart. I have replaced the glass in wooden double glazed windows and velux windows which had become misted up. The people who supplied the glass also supplied the mastic strips used instead of putty.

You can demist them yourself. Just drill a very small hole near the top and another near the bottom of the outer pane. You might also want to instal valves in the holes. They help to keep tiny insects out.

This morning, watching the procession of large passenger vehicles dropping off pupils at the high school next to us, the thought occurred that there could be a modern remake of a certain short film from the 1960s. Instead of the original title of "Les Bicyclettes de Belsize", the remake would be called "Les Tracteurs de Chelsea".

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. My little wheeze with the foil hasn't worked after all, the problems back. I contacted Virgin and apparently its because of server problems and they are trying to sort it out. I had noticed a little orange tab keep popping up at the bottom of the screen but until recently its popped up and disappeared too quick to be read but recently its stayed just long enough to be read, it says 'Server not available' but it only appears for a second at the most and no apparent effect on my access.

Apart from more recent premium bond purchases my Grandparents bought me some when I was born, very shortly after they were introduced. Not many and not worth much at all value wise today but I understand they cost about half a week's wage back then. Those particular bonds won absolutely nothing, until the month of my 50th birthday, when they won £50.

I'm really looking forward to my 100th birthday.

I don't think we have any Premium Bonds.

We will be investing this year in a new central heating boiler. Chatting to other people in the road they seem to have a lifetime of about 25 years. We are making arrangements for it to be replaced sometime this year. We will have it done by the people who did a few other neighbours' boilers. They are all happy.

We took Robbie round to collect his flea, tick and worm medications. He had to see the vet to have his vital signs checked. The receptionist said if we didn't mind waiting he could be seen today. As it turned out there was a delay but Robbie just did his "ooh look at me, I am so much cuter than your cat, rabbit etc" basically to get healthy treats from the nurses.

I am going for the professional repair to the window, it has internal leading and I don't want to end up with something looking odd.

OOO, lookeeee, a parcel arrived. Eagerly anticipated as I've been watching these for about a year and finally nailed one for only $55 US that INCLUDED shipping it to me from the UK!
all those I've seen over here are always around $100 and often more!

Now, I KNOW this isn't necessarily the right place, but I've a question some of our learned group may be able to answer - what "RED" is the best match? Preferably reference to a brand available in the US (Maybe Tamiya or Testors)...

Excellent, ta :)

I tried a few quick "googles" but always ended up with UK based model paint suggestions, some from custom mixers that sounded great, but not a US shipping possibility! I should've removed the "Revell" from the search probably!

I found the rest of my red bus collection while sorting stuff out in the garage. Mine are Midland Red though. My "getting more imaginary by the week " model railway location seems to be well served by Midland Red and Stratford Blue buses!

Evening all, as they used to say at work.

Was called to the hospital early, no explanation given.  Turned out to be because they had realised that by the time all the necessary had been done, x-ray would have been closed for the day, as I had been given the second last appointment time - despite the Dr's orders.

So it was plaster off, a good poke, stitches out, another good poke, new plaster, x-ray, home James. Or Debs, anyway.  The stitches took a bit of tweaking, not surprised as one was about 7cm long!  Those ones hurt a bit. General opinion is it is going well, but another 4 weeks to go fully laid up, then the wires get taken out which is a day procedure, then another 6 weeks no weight bearing, then we can begin to return to normality - slowly, with a 'walking boot' on and lots of physio.  The screws are going to stay in until 9 months, so that's my Autumn treat. Not.  Long term the foot will need to have the bones fused as Arthur-itis will take it's toll, it is up to me to make that call.

Photos later for those with strong stomachs.

Local joke:

Q - What follows two days of rain in Vancouver?

A - Monday

That's good to know. We're there during the week and leave Saturday morning.

Cheers,

Mick

That's why you should use all three security methods. no ssid, long password that isn't based on a real word, and a mac filter so that only your devices are allowed to connect.

Just looked at my router's logs. No attempts on the internal (sort of hidden) connection. Over 4800 attempts on the guest wifi in the past 2 months. No password sniffer obviously or that attempt total would have a few more 0's after it.

No guest access and no pet names or real names so fingers crossed we are OK but must change all of our devices and passwords soon.

More importantly need food after an unexpected trip to our favourite Borough Market bar. It's changed quite a bit since it's reponened after refurb. However it's going to take some getting used to. It's a bit bland now and you have to look at a white board to see what craft beers ar on as the taps ar now 90 degrees to the bar.

All the Brewers comments and wall signing plus brewery badges are gone. Staff change aswell by the looks of it.

Maybe spend more time modelling at home but still no modelling Mojo back yet.

At least we have found a Southern train running on time so far today.

Most Routemasters had maroon coloured interior panels, the stairs in particular. Unfortunately that colour is only available from a specialist paint maker Cherry/Precision ( # C162), the same colour is used for the wheels. All is not lost however as I've seen a very similar shade described in an American car magazine as 'cherry'. There is a group on Facebook called 'Kit built and scratchbuilt model buses' where you can ask for advice.

Thanks Phil...

Yeah, I was aware the interior was a maroon, and was assuming (bad choice!!) I'd find something like that rather easier, DUH!!

Also, I've a very nice colour for the wheels and other "rust" type coloring that I also use for bauxite wagons, a dirty red called "Special Oxide Red" that I have from the now defunct/retired POLLY Scale railroad colors. I purchased all I could find (only THREE 1fl. oz. containers) soon as it was announced they were discontinuing the line.

Afternoon all

Yes, like Flavio I think there is a lack of what we used to call general knowledge - certainly the training is better today than decades ago, though.

Remember the Millennium Bridge? Designed on computer by people who could not interpret the results!

The wheels were matt finish but the interior is gloss finish. Testors do a colour called 'cherry red' which may be suitable. I've also taken the liberty of signing you up as a member of the Facebook model bus group were there is likely someone who can advise you.
