Morning all, wet and wild in the Durham hills this morning. I think Dominik and Robert are due to get this weather front later today.

I think you are right!

It was pretty clear first thing - but it has now clouded over. That rather wild low pressure system that is currently over the UK is due to reach us by late this afternoon.

Morning All, It's been persisting it down here for quite a while and no sign of it clearing. Had a meeting scheduled with my manager yesterday that, surprise surprise, was postponed when I arrived! Communication and organisation are not this mans forte. Got to drop into the office later for a chat with a couple of folks but other than that I think I should probably sort out my challenge entry summary post.

Have a good one all.

Cheers

Dave

Today there is a big storm brewing off the East Coast about 200 miles out - The bad news is that it will be strengthening and deepening as it leaves here so expect a big one.

Thanks Pete, it's arrived here today, and is causing quite nasty gusts and rainy showers with the worst of it still to come this afternoon/evening. The predicted track is over Scotland and then out over the North Sea to cross the south of Scandanavia so the backlash will be Northern Germany by the looks of things. Also appears that the depression will weaken as it moves East, as the prediction is for it to be around 970mb when it reaches continental Europe, as against 951 at noon today.

Other than the weather, not a lot happening here, but I'm due back at the hospital tomorrow for more X rays and a consultation with the specialist.

Regards to All

Stewart

Hope everything turns out well for you healthwise.

I looked at the BBC forecast and they were talking about 80mph winds in the north Wales area - hang on in there. That's minimal Hurricane winds.

Still quite breezy here, from the North - as it has been all this week, probably due to Jet Stream being overhead - we could hit 70f by Saturday, however.

Best, Pete.

Morning all!

Still windy and the forecast predicts a mixture of sun and rain for today. Rabbits need to have their vaccination renewed, so I may pay a visit to the vet later today.

Have a good day everyone!

Yes, it is still quite windy here - but the storm has abated quite significantly from what it was like in the middle of the night. It sounded like there was absolutely torrential rain, being blown in sheets by the wind at one point during the night. I intended to get out of bed and have a look out of the window - but fell asleep again before I did it.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all

Our barbie cover disappeared overnight, despite being tied and wieghted.

Just wondering whether I should go and search or just put some 'missing' notices up on lamposts the way they do when cats go walkabout.

Not sure if I have a suitable photo though.

Edit - when I posted this I looked at the top bar in IE explorer and saw the dreaded Page 404 message - then realised that it is because we are up to page ..........er.........404. Well it is early.

Morning all.

Dry but windy here. The high wind closure of the bridge at Dartford caused considerable traffic delays throughout East London so my wife had a slow journey home last night. She didn't report seeing any barbecue covers flying about though. I suspect that BoD's cover is somewhere over Germany by now!

No known damage here.

Got some exercise chasing the top off the incinerator.

A nearby large ash tree has lost its leaves overnight and a fence has collapsed in a field opposite.

Doubtless there will be more revealed when folk are about more.

Morning all....

Got a houseful again. Found an old piece of gas equipment buried under some brambles yesterday, which was hissing this morning, so I now have two gas engineers plus five builders comtemplating their next actions. Least I think that's what happening. There's lots of standing around, chin rubbing and sharp intakes of breath.

Add to that someone nicked three bags of cement last night and Friday could be a tad better....:D

Well, it's not bad, but these days, nothing is safe. A couple of years ago a gang came along in the middle of the night and removed a whole load of drain covers from the road. This has been an ongoing issue and the Council reckon they've lost about 80 of them in the past two years.....
