Just come in form the garage. Been getting the canopy columns roller shutters etc on a warehouse. Two coats of primer and one coat of white drying. Another couple of coats of white early tomorrow morning.

Loads of detail to add but at least the buildings are in a reasonably complete state.

Need to do the paving etc in the morning and paint it.

It's obviously a modelling evening.  I've managed to ine one side of a Fairburn tank for a friend and then got more of the track plan for the new club layout sorted out.  Not a bad evening's work.  However the rest of the day took a different turn.  After breakfast the boss decided to by a bed frame she saw advertised on some site so after lunch I was dispatched to darkest salford to pick it up.  The traffic on the M62 was terrible in both directions but at least I had an afternoon out.

Featuring 60024 "Clitheroe Castle".

Highly appropriate as I grew up in a house on Castle View in Clitheroe looking at the castle every day..... ( :scratchhead:so that's why it's called Castle View.................  )

Busy day today with lots of different stuff being done and I have my first (of many) satisfied customer(s).

I've also collected a load of stuff that I need to learn my way on and quite looking forward to switching it all on.

Have a good Friday folks.

Cheers,

Mick

Right then - we (Jemma, Julie and myself) all went and voted today.

Only troubling part about voting this time is that if "the Donald" wins, he's just as likely to have all the ballots opened and line everyone that voted against him up against a wall!! :jester:

Off out after dinner to do some clothes shopping.

Apparently I'm not trusted/allowed to go alone any more as I don't always make "sensible choices", so I'm being escorted by Jemma and the Mrs!  :O  :jester:

Good evening everyone

Not a lot done today, first task was to write and then post office to send cards to the US and Canada. Then met up with Mrs W and did some grocery shopping, a bit of fruit and veg. Whilst there I had a text from the bookshop letting me know that the book I ordered was ready for collection.

After a late lunch it was off to hospital for my dressing changed, the surgeon was very pleased with the way it's healing and so am I. I've already noticed a great improvement in my finger, quite remarkable given that the surgery was only 5 days ago!

Jamie. I'm glad that the model boat website I posted earlier on your layout thread has proved useful. I too have found them very helpful and there catalogue has grown tremendously since I first saw them at a model boat show at Ellesmere Port when they were just starting out. I bought several boats for one of my own model boat projects and the quality of there products is very good.

Goodnight all.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Went down to Halfords today to order a trailer which I will need to transport some dioramas that the car is too small to accomodate. I was looking at some second hand trailers on e-bay but ones that suited my needs were all around the £350 mark. The brand new trailer was £230 + £30 for assembly (Its free collection from store but even broken down it won't fit in the car and the home delivery charge is only a couple of pounds less so its a no-brainer.) and even with the extra £95 for an ABS plastic cover it comes to very little more than a second hand one. Now time for bed, goodnight all.

cant you borrow a trailer to take the trailer home then take the trailer back in the trailer?

I’m copying your post to Donald Trump Jr.  Also he is an Anglophile ( I dunno what his Dad is) who hates people changing sides............... :triniti:

It can be useful to say: “ I can’t vote!” - covers a multitude of sins...

Best, Pete.

It is very dark, and rather chilly in this part of the world this morning.

I am back in the office after a days leave yesterday - we had a new kitchen window fitted as the old one was getting long in the tooth and was draughting quite significantly.  The previous owner of the house had some very large windows fitted, which were great for light, but the weight of the individual panes caused the frames to twist, and let in draughts.

We also wanted a fly screen fitted on the french windows - but that turned out to be a complete disaster.  Rather than a sliding screen that fits in the gap between the window and the shutter, they delivered a unit that fits outside, and the whole thing slides - all 2m of it, on a 4m runner.  Making for an incredibly flimsy construction - even if it had fit (which thankfully it didn't) because the gap around the outside is almost big enough for a Himalayan vulture - let alone a fly.  The installer phoned the company, and apparently it was my fault because "that is what the customer ordered".  However, the installer told them in no uncertain terms that it wasn't what I ordered because nobody would be daft enough to order something like that!

In view of the fact that the bloke who measured up got it wrong, and the fly screens are custom made (and therefore this one can only go in the bin) I suspect this is going to rumble on for a while - Oh, Joy!

Have a good day everyone...

Good morning one and all, after a varied day with Poorly Pal.  He enjoyed his lunch, thank goodness.  He told me that he has engaged a gardener despite having nowhere near enough to do to keep himself occupied and having a very small garden.  It's all down to confidence, or more accurately absence thereof.  You're not alone, amigo.

Another day, another irritation.  As I was posting some letters yesterday morning I spotted a small sticker on the pillar box proclaiming that as from 31st October the last collection will be 9 am.  For some strange reason this has not been headline news but it should be.  This represents a considerable worsening of service and will render next day delivery a happy memory.  If this is meant to be an improvement in the service offered by Royal Snail I would love to hear their idea of making things worse.

I have an appointment with Sister Diabetes at 9 am so must not tarry in this place overlong.  Best wishes to the missing, to all travellers and to the ailing, recovering, supporting, grieving and depressed.  ERs is nothing if not inclusive.

Sounds like a copy of this -

http://www.miac.org.uk/stjohns.html

Agreed but another source says that the original is in a churchyard in County Durham and is dated 15th August 1840, 3 months before the one in Bromsgrove. It would seem that the same wording has been used on at least 3 others including one in USA.

Email at work late yesterday, we have a company visitor on Monday from Trump or Hillary land, who's so high up I've never heard of Him  or her. So everything has to be spotless and the local management are panicking. Meanwhile somehow it's the end of the month and production targets have to be met.... I'll hide in my little lab and hope it goes away.     Ohmmmmmm

I woke up late this moring at 04:30 which means I had 7 hours sleep which is highly unusual, must be something to do with the Ibrprofen I took last night because of all the aching joints...

MRC tonight but I haven't finished the plywood round the baseboard, because I had to go and get dowling to make a loom For SWMBO, I hope to get the baseboard done when I get home after work.

Saturday will be spent laying about 3/4 ton of concrete path up to the base for a new shed, only I will also be digging for and laying the first 4 (at least ) foundation blocks for the shed which border the path. If I have time left over I'll make up the galvanised steel baseplate for the tin shed, that will give me a definate guideline for the rest of the Foundation blocks. Then a long soak in the bath to recover will be required before...

Tomorrow night at the Sailing club, happy time, late Trafalgar celebration dinner, lots of Rum and Brandy around.....

Good job we'll have an extra hour in bed...

Time to measure some more resistors.... Ohmmmmm

Morning all from our little village.  The boss is off to church to practice the music for Sunday so a morning of peace and quiet is in prospect.   I've got to finish the exhibition plan and then try to get some old Methfix number transfers to stick to a loco when they've lost their sticky. Unfortunately they are the only ones that are the correct size.  I suspect that I will experiment with some varnish.

An evening at the clubrooms will hopefully round off a good day.

Regards to all.

Good morning everyone

It's a wet start to the day here, having rained during the night, it's still raining now. Breakfast and tea have been cunsumed so I'll have to find something to do inside, because a short walk us certainly out.

The dressing that was applied yesterday is little more than a couple of large plasters, so I can now wear gloves, therefore I might pop downstairs and do a bit of tidying up in the cellar, at least it's dry and it'll burn of a few calories too!

Back later.

Morning, from another little village somewhat to the West of Jamie's.

Mrs H out for a walk with her pal, I'm off to the old farts bike club soon, so not a bad day in prospect.  Then I'll drive the campervan out for lunch with Debs somewhere, we like to run it every weekend if we can provided there is no salt on the roads as standing is no good for vehicles.

I'm glad Polly has found her station cat, always sad when they go missing, even if it's just a little 1/76th one!

Our last Collection is 14:00 it's the only collection, it used to be that when they delivered at 11:00ish ( the only delivery) they would collect as well, but not for the last 4 years. We do have strange happenings with Parcel Farce as well. One day we had two Parcel Farce vans outside and the mail van all at the same time which is a bit much for a single track country lane in the Middle of Nowhere.

Well not actually in the middle of Nowhere because there is a place called "Nowhere" about Fifteen miles away, http://www.origins.org.uk/genuki/NFK/places/a/acle/nowhere.shtml
