emt_911
Morning all. Not looking forward to today as I had a very restless night. Probably a combination of the heat and quite a few family issues. I'm already on to my second coffee and many more may be required before the day is out. Have a good day everyone.
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 10, 2015 Morning all. Not looking forward to today as I had a very restless night. Probably a combination of the heat and quite a few family issues. I'm already on to my second coffee and many more may be required before the day is out. Have a good day everyone. Morning all. Hope it's better than you anticipate Duncan. Restless night here too. I usually sleep fitfully the night before a run of earlies. Something to do with knowing the hour the alarm will ring. It's even worse when nature determines I have to interrupt my brief stay under the duvet. Went to bed a little concerned last night as one of the flock was very poorly all day, not eating or socialising with the others and then retired to the brood box where she stood motionless for hours. I fully expected to find this morning that she had flown to the great coop in the sky but no, she was up and at 'em with the rest when I delivered corn at 4am Having keep chickens most of my life I'd say she pecked up a grub that upset her system. DDolfelin
Feeling a little light headed this morning. My first day of freedom! Just some steam cleaning to do and then normal life resumes.
Robert
Morning All, I have returned from two weeks on the South Coast - it was a bit of a shock to the system to return from 23°C with sea breeze to over 30°C and no air movement at all! Still, the holiday was very nice, the only problem being that it flew by in a flash. I hardly used a computer in all the time I was there (hence my absence over the past couple of weeks). Back in the office this morning, and catching up on what I have missed. Have a good day everyone...
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 10, 2015 Morning all. We are off to the castle overlooking the lake today. The climb up to it was supposed to deter invaders, we will go by minibus. Otherwise a quiet day seems to be the plan.

RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 10, 2015 Good morning all, Dry but rather overcast at the moment. Forecast is for some heavy showers later. Glad to see you back Robert and that you enjoyed your holiday. I think we're shopping for a new mattress this morning. This will lead to some a lot of disagreement so I better get "padded up". This afternoon the carpet is being fitted in the railway room and then the shelves can be attached to their uprights. "Oh be still my beating heart!" Have a good one, Bob.

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 10, 2015 I think we're shopping for a new mattress this morning. This will lead to some a lot of disagreement so I better get "padded up". Wonderful job, but I'd recommend condsidering replacing the whole bed, not just the mattress. And go for the best you can afford. Our last bed was a Millbrook, and we got twelve years from it. If you are going to an independent supplier, have a look at Harrison, if you're going to the chain store beginning with B, then look at their high end stuff. I am of the opinion that £1000 is a small price to pay for a good night's sleep and a bed that will last a long time.

Hi Martin. The great joy of living so close to work is the amount of extra time at home you get. It is wonderful to know that traffic, train delays etc won't make you late, and you can have a leisurely breakfast, take the kids to svhool or whatever. BTW, I'm sure many of us would be interested in tales from your work. Ed Skool Edited August 10, 2015 by edcayton
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) Our main summer trip this year is much later than normal which means we will be gonig as most are eitther back or on their way back! Our finance director has just returned from China so must go ask him how it went. A busy day yesterday butstill didnt get all the planned tasks done but at least the conservatory roller blinds are in place and its much tidier in there after moving all the empty plant pots, plant feed, weedkiller (must be more careful with that - my other half still hasnt twigged why some of the plants have died). Had a good session on the Czech layout. It was warm outside and I thought that i would end up with sunburn but seem Ok. However I do ache all over . Thought I would sleep fine last night but didnt so now I am very tired this morning. Edited August 10, 2015 by roundhouse

Killybegs
Is she going to run a marathon now? Ed No! As regards the weather, normal service has been resumed. It's raining and it looks as though it's set in for a while. I have a briefing in fifteen minutes to receive my instructions for the day. It appears that we have run out of bedroom space, so Steph and I will be moving into the motorhome for the next three nights! Had a test run on the dishwasher last night to see if it was still working as we haven't used it since the last mass invasion. All OK. Watched Life of Pi last night. Very enjoyable. Amazing what they can do with computers these days. Hope your week goes well. Edited August 10, 2015 by Killybegs
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 10, 2015 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Trying out some new trainers today, I don't normally wear trainers as I don't like fiddling about with laces but these have a zip on the side so that they are easy to take off and put on without touching the laces. My usual preference is Velcro and needing some new shoes and as I couldn't find any with Velcro fastening I thought I'd give these a try.
lightengine
It was hammering down when I woke but now it's just raining. Probably not going to the beach today or even out in general.
Smiffy2
Up late this morning after another late night stargazing with Daisy. We saw the start of the Perseids, she's learned the Plough and where to find Venus. We also saw a satellite which I think may have been the ISS. And there were bats and owls... All this whilst clutching a stuffed bunny. Doing tidying up today, as we're off home tomorrow, and this afternoon we're going to see the castle at Fougères. Which is big. Maybe out for dinner tonight if anywhere is open (basically I've cleaned the cooker and I don't want to do it again). Have a fine day, folks. See you back in England tomorrow.
RMweb Gold Shedman5 Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 10, 2015 Morning, it was my turn to maintain the tennis courts this morning so it was up early and down at the club for 7.30 as I prefer to get it done giving me the rest of the day. So a couple of hours sat on the tractor pulling a rather large brush up and down the courts gave me plenty of thinking time for the next steps on my layout. A late breakfast about to be consumed then its off to the shed to see if my ideas are practical. Sunshine here at the moment. Enjoy your day folks Alan

Smiffy2
Thanks for that - I can't download at the moment due to slow French rural internet... I'll do it when I'm back home.
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 10, 2015 Robert recommended Stellarium some time ago. I am quite interested in stars and planets but seem to have some mental block about object names and have difficulty remembering them. So a program that tells me what I am looking at is great.

They are ideal, because I can no longer bend to do up laces, and these are Velcro fastened! Highly recommended! Kind regards, Jock.
