Morning (just), hope we're all well.

A bit lethargic this morning, the weekend's exertions with the A4 seem to have caught up with me. I think the problem is that we have to sleep in a support coach, and no matter how comfy it is, no matter how tired I am my brain says 'Oh no matey, this ain't your bed, no sleep for you'.....consequently it can get somewhat wearying., (is that even a word?)

Never mind, off to daughter's in a bit for a couple of days, SiL is a few thousand miles away serving Queen and country so pops (me) is on babysitting duties at odd times over the next couple of days so she can attend appointments.

No prizes for guessing who will be the biggest kid there...grandson has a cracking pirate fort......

One of the intriguing things about RMweb at present is that if I click on Reply to this topic, or on Reply quoting this post, then, probably because my connection is a bit slow, when I start typing in the reply box I almost always get the "benefit" of bold, underscore, italics or strike-through, so my first couple of words are "wrong". Or it could just be another Win 7 manifestation. It is seldom fatal, whatever.

I get this as well, on 2 different machines, a PC on XP (currently in a coma, possibly terminal) and on this laptop using Vista. The sequence of styles is sometimes random, sometimes in rotation. Also on this laptop it frequently fails to register keystrokes, even when very firm, so I have to check and edit every  reply. The phenomenon is restricted to this site!

I think this happens because you click too high in the box when the head for the box turns up you have clicked on  bold italic or whatever I know I have started many replies in bold until I twigged it or someone else told me I forget now.......

If we are talking the Chatham show, check timetables closely because the line through Woolwich Arsenal is closed. I thought about Benfleet to Limehouse, DLR to Lewisham, NSE to Gillingham. This will keep you out of zone 1. Not particularly quick, however.

Bill

Bill we're thinking about the New Cross show on the 12th of July. From Benfleet by train his best route would be to change to the District line @ West Ham then change to the Overground @ Whitechapel. Either train to New Cross or New Cross gate. Driving part way it would be easier to come in the M25 - A2 (or A20) then park at any Bexleyheath or Sidcup line station (street preferred). Blackheath has the largest parking lot and on a Saturday is £5 for the whole day as are most car parks along that line. Street parking outside Welling or Bxhth station is £1.60 for 4 hours or £3.80 for 24 hours.

Isn't Höchstädt supposed to be there?

Andrew and Tony,

New Cross Gate is an extra five minutes over New Cross. The alternative would be Limehouse, DLR to Deptford Bridge and walk towards London on the A2.

Yes, Höchstädt will be in attendance.

'ello all. HUMP day is here, arriving with 18 for a temp. and expecting 28. "mostly sunny".

I STILL don't get the difference between mostly sunny, partly cloudy, etc. ! Obviously weatherman-speak to convince the punters they have a clue, and a 4-year degree :)

We have another stalled front around/near us and the jetstream remains 400-500 miles south of where it usually is, so we are experiencing early-May conditions, with all the resort owners now pissing and moaning that it's not hot enough. This winter it was TOO SNOWY, I mean, if you're a winter resort, how can it be TOO snowy <sigh> - "there's no pleasing some people..." - this phrase ALWAYS reminds me of the "Alms for an ex-leper" skit in Life of Brian - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U74s8nFE7No 1:30 in, almost a the end, but the entire skit has some of my favourite dialogue :jester:

Work commands my day being one of the toiling class, but at least I enjoy what I do... hope everyone is enjoying their various pursuits today, sound like plenty of errands and activities to keep you all busy, and more importantly out-of-trouble ...

Tony, if you are talking of Chatham I have volunteered to steward on Saturday, if you want a lift PM me. I will have to leave about 8/8.30 o'clock however and will be there until about 3 o'clock.

The only reason I suggested New Cross gate is that it is only a few extra minutes and has more frequent service on the Overground than New Cross. The walk from Deptford Bridge is pretty miserable and there either a massive number of stairs or a very unpleasant lift. See you there hopefully regardless. Edited by AndrewC

That is really kind of you but it is the New Cross show Andrew was remarking on  that  I had dared to like ,(me being norf of the river!)

I am reliably informed that we will be going to Enfield on Saturday. I haven't been to the Chatham Show for quite some time now.  It was in a big shed in the dockyard.

Tony. If it was the Hartlepool show you were talking about I would park somewhere, get the train to Kings Cross then the Grand Central to Hartlepool. Stilettos are not advisable in Hartlepool.

I can see why you travel to the leafy suburbs of West Ham for your football fun now!

I intend to go there myself, also by public transport.

Evening all,  well survived the so called "training" more like product sales....and I did not need to really about domestic smart electric domestic meters.....what they do with the electric once I've sent it over the wall, I dont really care! Though these smart meters did cause a lot of very "Loud" discussions as a lot of the delegates did not completely understand the principles!

And throwing in  tonight's nostalgia  photo, same station as last night I think  no doubt NHN will put us right!

Be good,

Ack!! Wednesday is my "in the office" day...however an early "evacuation" is called for it seems;

http://www.citypages.com/events/north-star-grand-prix-st-paul-downtown-criterium-3353359/

They're going to start closing off the streets around here in about 45 minutes for this event, and the start is about 2 blocks from me and ONE block from the parking lot I may get trapped in if I'm not careful... wish they'd make more "obvious" announcements of such things <sigh> seems to be a VERY well kept secret :O

A friend of mine (an Essex resident too) has very large feet and she always had great difficulty getting shoes that didn't look like hiking boots, until she was recommended to try a "specialist" establishment for gentlemen who liked such things. I think it was somewhere south of the river!

Maybe Brighton?!

Listening to the tail end of a Mahler symphony, then a quick water of the garden and off to bed. A long day tomorrow, signing in at Lord's at 8:00am and possibly not released until 8:00pm. And if it gets hot in the Grandstand, it could be a busy one as well.
