RMweb Premium southern42 Posted July 7, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 7, 2013 I didn't, but am pleased. I recall from last year that Wimbledon was the start of a glorious summer of UK sport. I hope 2013 keeps it up - even in those I don't follow. Seems there's now a call for a "Sir" Andy....
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted July 7, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2013 Seems there's now a call for a "Sir" Andy.... If gongs are handed out for "pleasing the people" I reckon that's reasonable.

Debs.
I think he could make a mint out of this. Yes, but with that kind of money at stake; organised-crime 'racqueteers' would surely take over!

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted July 7, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 7, 2013 While Murray was playing tennis I was at Denby Dale umpiring a cracking cricket match (Yorks U14s v Staffs U14). It was hot - the lads stuck to it and it was a close match. Thanks to teh Denby Dale CC Cricket Tea Team - we had a proper cricket tea with home made cakes.....

trisonic
Seems there's now a call for a "Sir" Andy.... Oh, dear, really? That'll be the kiss of death for a repeat performance. I wonder if Eric Sykes et al all turned down the honour? Let alone the other Eric....but if Tony Robinson can get one anyone can, I suppose.. Best, Pete. Ashcombe
Hi all! Copied this from an email we received from Prezzo soon after the final ended. Hello Sherry, Well it's only taken 77 years for this, but finally one of our fellow Brits has won Wimbledon! To toast Andy Murray winning Wimbledon, enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco when you purchase a main course.* Valid on Monday 8th July 2013 only. *Due to strict licensing laws our Scottish restaurants can only offer a complimentary soft drink. Had to highlight the final line! Cheers, everyone! PS For those who've never had the pleasure, Prezzo is an Italian chain of restaurants! ("Fellow Brits"?!) RMweb Gold Happy Hippo Posted July 7, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2013 If gongs are handed out for "pleasing the people" I reckon that's reasonable. There are a number of ladies(not on this forum I hasten to add) with a certain reputation or 'profession' who would definitely qualify for such an award. DDolfelin
I wonder if an Englishman can make it within the 100 years. Maybe even a Womble.
DonBradley
Up early. I watched and cheered Andy's match. 19C predicted today with no rain and a clear day tomorrow though looking out of the window threatening looking clouds are covering the mountain. Kath's funeral today, but as I said not expected to be a sad occasion. Have a successful day all..

RMweb Premium skipepsi Posted July 8, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 8, 2013 Morning all, bit bemused by how cool it was until I realised it was two hours earlier. RMweb Premium NGT6 1315 Posted July 8, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 8, 2013 Morning all... No idea what I'll be doing today thus far, but with one school year behind me, our move around the corner and a new year starting in late August, I figure I'm entitled to some days of peace and quiet in between! Enjoy your day, everyone...
