RMweb Premium southern42 Posted February 3, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 3, 2013 Hi Peter, Wendy and now Bertie, well what a little LARGE beauty, he looks like a lot of fun, You can never replace Alfie but you add to his memories with a new companion. Now enjoy your modelling with that big wet nose, If you see Ray and Polly, please say hello from me, I spoke to them briefly at Barrow Hill and did not realise they lived near you, it;s a small world, All the best Andy. Hi Peter, Andy beat you to it - we met up at Stafford, yesterday. Pleased to pass on his greetings to you. Ray's just started a thread for Camel Quay while waiting for the glue to dry. It's a bit late posting but he's been out in The Diner building away since the New Year...will update with some pictures later. Your abbey is coming along beautifully. Look forward to seeing the finished article. Polly

trains12
Hi All Has any one out there taken any videos of the layout that they could post. At many of the shows that we have attended with various layouts we have never seen any of the footage shot of them. I feel that there must be someone in amongst the members that has a film so please could you post it. I would love to see trains moving in and out of the station or the Distillery on Glen Gillie. Cheers Peter
trains12
Hi All Well here are a few shots of the nearly completed Abby. Still to fit drain pipes and a bell over the front door and then paint it will be placed and set on the layout in the next few days together with the trees and a few other bits that have been completed. The other day stepped onto the signals that I had made for the layout extension. They had dropped onto the floor and I didn't see them so they may not be complete for the photo shoot in two weeks time. Next item to complete is the castle. 7APT7
Hi All Part 1 of 5 Peter's doing a really good job on the layout progress wise now the tree’s are being put on to the layout and making it look that bit better as always when Peter adds just that bit more to a layout... The Light in the room is very dark, and I’m sure once it at a show or in good light they will look a lot better, these are just a few photo’s taken over the last day or so... Any Comment or thoughts are welcome... Jamie

trains12
Hi All Well we had the photo shoot with Mike Wild from Hornby Mag last Sat. it was was great. I also took a few shots of Glen Gillie and Loch Inch and here are a few of them. There is still some work to finish off on the electrics and fine details etc these will be done over the next few weeks ready for the first show at Bakewell in June This is a shot of the extended layout. I wonder what he is looking at with that telescope Ahh! I see now.

trains12
Hi All Thank you Dave & Bruce for your comments. they are much appreciated. Here are a few more shots of the layout taken yesterday. This is based upon a shot I took in the Firth of Forth of seals sunbathing on a channel buoy. The loch has yet to have the water resin poured on Chimneys have still to be placed on the houses. Did not notice this till we had viewed the photos. The camera can not lie? It is a great way to check details on the layout that are either missed or require further attention.
trains12
Hi all Here are a few more shots of the layout to-date. I am now making a list of all the small little discrepancies that are appearing in the photos and over the next few weeks hope to remedy these niggling items. If anyone out there can see any areas please let me know. Thanks.
RMweb Premium PaternosterRow Posted March 29, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 29, 2013 I watched the development of this from the start - a truly remarkable layout and in double quick time too! The scenics have now finished it off perfectly - I would give anything just for that section with the lighthouse alone. Brilliant.

trains12
I watched the development of this from the start - a truly remarkable layout and in double quick time too! The scenics have now finished it off perfectly - I would give anything just for that section with the lighthouse alone. Brilliant. WOW, Peter that is tremendous, such wonderful atmosphere, great stuff mate. Hope you, Wendy and Bertie are well, Andy Hi all Many thanks for the comments Andy and Paternoster Row. There is still some detailing work to do and the Scots Pines to finish off. It is little things like missing chimneys on buildings and a lot of detail work around the boat yard. The castle did not look right for colour so that is to be repainted with the adding of a film crew and a desperate fight on top of the turret ( Midsummer Murders move to Scotland?) We now have bookings for the layout at Bakewell , Hartlepool, Bonner Bridge (Scotland) and Model Rail Live 2013. Over the next few weeks I hope to have all the work completed, so will keep all informed. Cheers Peter

trains12
Hi All Just had my copy of Hornby Mag and Glen Gillie & Loch Inch is featured on the cover and a full spread inside with a few other shots in other sections. Mike Wild has taken some really wonderful shots of the layout showing it off to its best. I see small details that I have missed but slowly these are being rectified. During the last few days I have been making model lathe and milling machine for inside the boat yard shed as well as a boat under construction on the slip way. At last I have also obtained the resin to do the water in the loch as well as repairing the river on Glen Gillie side. The water cranes at the end of the platforms have been started using the same method that I used early on Glen Gillie. A new control panel has been built to operate the Loch Inch side of the layout which can also be used when Loch Inch is taken out as a separate layout. It has the full track layout of Loch Inch on it but in the case of Glen Gillie & Loch Inch being worked together the station part of Loch Inch is not used only the throat section leading to Glen Gillie station. Andrew P
Hi Peter, great article in Hornby Mag and the NEW BIT, Loch Inch, I look forward to seeing it at the Bakewell Show in June, I am there with Glen Roy, Best wishes to Wendy and Bertie. trains12
Hi all Well it has been sometime since a posted a reply on the the thread. In the last few weeks I have rewired part of the Loch Inch layout so that it can be worked independent of Glen Gillie when the station board is completed. In the mean time further tress have been added and small details like the machine tools in the ship building yard. chimneys have also been added to some of the builds that were noted in the photo shoot. Also can anyone out there tell me if the Co-Bo's Class 29 ever went up as far as Fort William. I have been told that they did on trains to the paper mills but I cannot find any photos of this. Anyway the layout is in the last stages of touching up ready for its first outing to the Bakewell show on the 8th & 9th June. If you are going to the show please say hello.
