trains12
Hi All Here are a few shoots of what has been done in the last few days. Most of the work has been on the main part of the layout getting it ready for Model Rail live at Barrow Hill in a weeks time. The last bit of track connecting the harbour has been done and the boat yard buildings have been part painted. In the background can be seen the chapel Still a bit of work to complete on that yet. The other area is the inside if the coast guard office has been painted and people added. Sorry about poor shots but I think i have a setting incorrect on the camera . 7APT7
Hi Well, been up Peters the last 2 days and these are just a few of the 500+ Photos taken, not to say about the 700+ I deleted. Those who know Peter and have seen up close his work, will know that you can spend loads of time just looking at his excellent work, and I must say, just watching Peter you can learn a lot from just watching Peter do his modelling... So Yes I do have several photos, but it hard trying to pick the best photos when all photos are good, so try and take photos of the progress of the Layout... Hope you enjoy... Peter will no doubt answer any questions if you want to know how-to do little jobs around the Layout... Jamie

pharrc20
Glen Gillie has made it across the hills from North Wales to Barrow Hill for Model Rail Live. Some minor damage to a pair of signals that can be glued back into position plus the garage scenic piece came adrift somewhere on the journey and no major damage so it has been glued back into place. And then the common return wire between two boards has come loose but this has been solved by bridging the boards with crocodile clips as a temporary fix until we can have a proper look the wires. We look forward to seeing you over the weekend. Cheers Peter & Paul
trains12
Hi All Well a great weekend was had at Model Rail. Many thanks to the Model Rail team for putting on a great show .It gets better each year. The layout worked well, a few little problems as Paul has stated. The only down side was that my lens on my Canon decided not to speak to the main body hence No real shots of the event other than this not too good a shot of the new Bachmann Glen class of loco, The Lady of The lake which was lent to us by Model Rail. Many thanks to them. Arrived home last night at 11.00pm unloaded and in bed by 12.30pm. One little item that we did on the Sunday was to obtain a cheap half bottle of whisky and poured a little around the Distillery to create the smell of fumes . It did work a little but there were a few eyebrows raised. Anyway thanks to all who passed comments on the layout. trains12
Hi All Here are a few shoots that I took last week in Scotland at Loch Awe. It is this location that the extension to Glen Gillie ,now called Loch Ince. is based on. The above shots are of the footbridge which on the layout go up to the castle These shots or of the area where the Abbey is on the model. And these last two shots show Loch Awe viaduct which it is hoped will be on some other boards when the layout is used at home in the barn, This is the coach at the site that has been used as a camping coach a cafe and a railway mess hut( not all the same coach. trains12
Hi All Well still not managed to sort my camera out yet so no shots till Jamie gets back. Work to date is that the the track has been sprayed now bar for where it goes into the fiddle yard. The board is now being altered due to some comments made by Polly. The fiddle board is now to have scenery on half the width and will now have the rest of the island with the abbey on it. it will contain the monks grave yard and the small walled garden and bee hives. The main Abbey building is being worked on now and has most of the covering in place and some windows and doors fitted. Painting of the rock faces has also started and will take up the next week so that flocking etc can start soon. The next major event is to start making the tress about 100 of them firs, scots pine spruce etc. I new that new Wild Swan book Vol 2 on tress would come in handy. One other item that I am looking at is the fitting of all the stock with Kadee couplings in lieu of my faithful B & B couplings which in some cases are now 26 years old about and are getting passed there best.. This will be a big job because stock is used on all eight layouts and at present stands at over 2300 wagons and coaches and 450 plus engines so will have to be a little bit selective for a while till it is all done. Well thats all for now. Cheers Peter

Too many model and prototype railway events since I last saw you. Speaking as the non-technical one in our household, I think you'll like the kadees. The only trouble I have with them is due to driver error. Though I'm wondering...is he looking for someone, who finds the B&Bs a bit fiddly, to help operate the new layout? Keep up the good work and hope to see the extension again soon. Polly
trains12
Hi All Have had a few queries and pm's about my avitar - what is he? Alfie is a pyrennese mountain dog and weighs in at about 14 stone (89kg) and is about 30ins to the shoulder. He is now between 10 & 11 years old not sure as he was a rescue dog 5 years ago. trains12
Hi all Think sorted small camera out so here are a few shots of progress as of last night. Most of the scenery from ruined castle to station approach has been painted prior to flocking and some of the sea. Hope to post some more photos later Cheers Peter

trains12
Hi all Have got the fiddle yard baseboard up and joined to rest of layout. Work has started on getting the scenery cut for the rest of the island and sorting out the selector plate for the main running lines. Will post some shots soon. Cheers Peter
trains12
Hi All Well here are a few shots of the completed poly build up ready for the plastering on the fiddle board. The island extension will now contain the Monks veg patch with the bee hives from which they make a nice liqueur. There is also the old grave yard. At the end of the island during the last war an observation post was built and the ruins of this can still be seen today. (at least when it is built). Behind the backscene will be the selector plate having 6 tracks. Peter
trains12
Hi all Here are a few shots of the plastering that has been completed up to last night. Sorry about the quality of the shots still having problems with cameras. Mind you the official photographer (Jamie) is back today. The walling for the walled veg garden has been placed on ready to be fixed in.Should have the plastering finished today then complete the track into the fiddle yard. Does anybody know of any model people wearing kilts made by a manufacturer. I have been looking but so far have only found some soldiers. Peter Edited October 12, 2012 by trains12
RMweb Gold McRuss Posted October 12, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2012 Hello Peter, I don't know any manufacturer who did kilted peopel, but I made mine by myself. Just took a female figure with a skirt to the knees, and a male figure with a jacket, saw them in half, than glue the male upper half on the female lower half and you've got a kilted scotsmen.
