They have to fulfil orders, cast, pack, post etc during their evenings and weekends. And there is all the work involved preparing for and attending shows as well. Rather than continually castigating smaller suppliers on rmweb, people should be grateful these ranges are still available, unlike many others. Does it REALLY matter if you wait for parts for your hobby? It's not life or death is it. Please be patient with our smaller suppliers. I for one am grateful I can still obtain their products. These companies could, of course, start employing people. But then rmweb would be full of complaints about price increases. My post was first post on here over TWO years re delievery of goods, hardly a continually castigation of anything !!!!. It was a simple request to see if anyone else had a problem with non reciept of goods. I am pleased to say that the items have a just arrived ,so thank you to Dart Castings, and to every other cottage industry for their efforts at the same time. See below from their website "DELIVERY:Please allow 28 days for delivery. We will dispatch your order as soon as we can but please note that we cannot hold stock of every product in our range and some items may need to be cast to order; hence the relatively long lead times. If we are unable to ship your complete order within 28 days we will endeavour to contact you to agree part shipment or a refund." I made an order about 4 weeks ago and am wating for delivery. I know the website says there are delivery issues, and I suspect that also getting materials form their suppliers is an issue too, so they do have my sympathy in running a business at this difficult time. I am not impressed by the phone message that says that you cannot leave messages or the lack of replies to emails asking about the situation, neither of which contact was made before the 3 weeks they suggested for a delay. I have ordered from Dart Castings in the past and found them a really good supplier, and I have also bought from their stand at the York show the last few years. Their products are excellent (I like their cast chimney pots a lot, and the MJT bogie frames make for really smooth running DMUs/Coaches). I don’t want to cancel the order, but I do want to know if they are still operating as otherwise, I will have to find similar components elsewhere. 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

jwealleans Posted June 22, 2020 Share Posted June 22, 2020 At the start of lockdown they were turning orders round in a couple of days, so I'd be inclined to suggest that they are waiting on suppliers by now. As a rule, they say allow up to 28 days and it's often approaching that before orders arrive (but I tend to accumulate orders and send quite large ones occasionally). I understand that such endeavours are usually second jobs, but I think updating the website, or answering emails even if it is with a stock reply such as 'We are very busy at the moment, and orders are taking longer than usual .....' would be helpful. They have been unusually busy, as with the lockdown they have received a very large number of new orders, I suspect that with many of us being at home we all have more time for modelling. They have also been affected by being part of a chain of supply, and that some of their suppliers have had difficulties in keeping up with supplying stock. Not all their stock is housed in one place, and with lockdown restrictions putting together orders (like mine) that are across different aspects of the business have been difficult to complete. They were very apologetic about not keeping up with communications, but are catching up on things. As others have said in this thread, the business (like many other specialists) is not a full-time occupation for them, they have day jobs as well. Their suppliers are also catching up with etches and other stock, so as point of sales they have been quite under pressure. My biggest worry was that the company might have ‘gone under’ either due to financial reasons or worse, through illness. Thankfully that is not the case, and selfishly I also don’t want to lose a supplier of parts that are tried and tested across several models from chimney pots through to bogie etches. autocoach Posted July 24, 2020 Share Posted July 24, 2020 The US Postal Service took 6 days for a small package for me to go 25 miles this past week. The only thing worse is FedEx and UPS. Amazon does far better but even they have their lapses where stuff goes into a black hole. In my area Amazon does the full delivery, not relying on the USPS for the final package drop on the doorstep. The delivery volumes these days must be horrendous as many of us here in California do not date venture to any form or retail beyond the grocery store even masked and latex gloved. 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
