RMweb Premium RichardT Posted August 26 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 26 And finally, the oddest of the odds and sods unearthed during this wet bank holiday attic clearout. An original DJH 0-16.5 “Ghillie” 0-4-0ST freelance white metal loco kit (based on Festiniog Small Englands). Part-built, for spares/repairs/tinkering. I vaguely remember buying this kit as a teenager circa 1978 in part-exchange for a pile of Hornby stock, with grand ideas of going 0-16.5. Inspired, I think, by the “Glen Aros Light Railway” I’d seen in one of the first Railway Modellers I bought, and by my then Castle Railway Circle compatriot Neil Rusby’s narrow-gauge modelling. As you can see from the photos, teenage enthusiasm for 0-16.5 didn’t last long… All components and instructions are present, but the chassis needs complete overhaul and some new wheels (they are the old-style Ks D-centred plastic wheels and one has, inevitably, broken) and motion. The Mashima 5-pole motor did work on test many years ago, but now needs a good clean up, as the “protective” foam rubber in its box has disintegrated and stuck to the pole pieces & worm. But the keen fettler may be able to make something of it all! Thanks, again, for looking. Richard DJH 0-16.5 “Ghillie” as seen - £28 including tracked UK postage.
