I recall asking about DRS 66/4s when batch 1 was announced, to deal with all of the nuclear stock (by Accurascale).

Then I see 66421. But also see it is dated post 2018 - Gresty Bridge TMD.

Not wishing to pull Tesco containers, had a search for nuclear duties. Found this December 2020. Recovering spent fuel rods from a nuclear sub refit.

I have the flasks and coaches, BUT 3 of the 66s needed to replicate this formation!!

I have ordered one.

I also have the KUA's and waiting for another run of the Mk2 Escort coaches.  Just ordered 66421 and seriously considering ordering another.

MY wallet was anticipating class 37s.   Now it's a double whammy!

Fran, have the 37s slipped down the production pecking order, or are we due aother announcement "soon"?

Hi Andy,

Not at all. We announce a new run after the previous run has come in and gone out again, with decorated samples. This is the case with the 66, with batch one arriving and now sold out, and it will be the same with the 37s, with the remainder of batch two arriving this afternoon, and should go out fairly quick.

We reckon run 3 will be announced next month ;)

Cheers!

Fran

Quick question for all you Class 66 aficionado's, are the DRS 66/3's (ex Fastline) the same as the 66421-434 batch as thinking of getting another 66421 and renumbering it into one of the 66301-305 series, or were there detail differences?

As stated in the other 66 sub forum, great liveries especially the Fastline version in 66302. I hope that livery is also brought out as a Cavalex Class 56.

I wonder if the 3rd party commission will be 66301 in GBRF gold livery - since 66301 was not selected for the Fastline livery version 🤔

I will eagerly await the announcements of the exclusive runs especially of 66793 which is sneakily hiding in plain sight. although my wallet isn’t as enthusiastic  😂

The /3s are the eco sheds with the 5th bodyside door. There's probably other subtle differences, but that's the main one imho.

Great selection, but the weathering on the bottom couple is a bit too OTT for me.

As are 411 upwards. Lights on 421 - 434 match those on 301 - 305. Haven't studied the DRS ones in too much detail, but reckon 421-434 and 301 - 305 are pretty similar.

They are identical ‘low emission’ bodyshell types as steadfast says but having just looked on flickr I notice depending on your chosen modelling era paintwork wise 301 has had both black and yellow headlight units and also has/hasn’t had a red ‘buffer beam’ (similarly with 421)

Doing a search for ‘66301 66421’ on Flickr brings up a surprising number of pics of them together, including one in chaddesden in fastline days so I’m 99% confident I’ve driven 421 as well!

I believe they are a similar spec, 66418 to 434 also have the fifth door,

Some great choices again in the second batch.

Be interesting to see how the Maritime liveried 66 does, I remember the Bachmann 66727 hung around for a while.
DRS 66421, Railfreight 793 and either unknown special or Maritime 142 for me, oh then I’ll have to replace my 66301 for 302 pulling power !

I'm playing 'Spot-the-odd-one-out'

You've got 9 in your line-up but only 8 in your profile image below.

BTW, I can see 2 possibly heading my way. Thank you.

I appreciate you produce what sells, business 101…maybe a plain Jane loco that is ripe for renumbering so we can buy 2 or 3  or 4 to renumber especially bog standard EWS, Freightliner examples.

Not my era, but the lack of bog standard ews / freightliner liveries indicates that these arent as strong sellers as a the very nice looking rainbow of liveries they are offering. Perhaps the latter is also a better fit with their business model ie limited runs that will sell out as they may not be repeated.

To be honest, most of the run are 'bog standard' just everyone's definition of that term differs by Era :)

There's also nothing 'limited' about our runs, we just don't rerun the same numbers where it's avoidable.

Hi @Pegleg90,

You know, when we saw your predictions earlier this week we thought we had a leak they were that close!

Cheers!

Fran

🤣 you mean I’m correct with the limited edition and commission as well? 😜

Looking forward to these announcements as well?

Cheers

Just when the pre order backlog was looking a bit lighter. 849 sound fitted ordered rather promtly, funnily enough while sat on one of the sister locos

Well I do model banger blue!

Thanks for the insight into the Limited run issue. I presume there is a minimum economic quantity required by the supply chain and the maximum is limited by orders - ie your business model doesn't involve speculative orders for your inventory.
