Strange one with ESU lokpilot 21 pin decoder.

Recommended Posts

I have a dcc controller I designed myself.

Works with Hornby and Bachmann decoders fine.

However wont work with ESU lok pilot dcc 21 pin decoder.

It will run loco speed and direction and turn lights on/off.

But you access cv's, any attempt to do this is ignored by the decoder.

So cant change loco number or change loco cv's.

I have a Hornby select which will change cv's on the loco no problem.

So the Hornby select is doing something my controller doesnt.

Any clue as to why this is happening would be appreciated.

Programming output is too low maybe.  The Select doesn't have a low power programming output, effectively programming "on the main"

Turned out to be a bug in my dcc controller.

It was sending 0,0,0,0 instead of 0,0,0 and so decoder was not entering service mode.
