Probably, they have a Next18 decoder, so light options are limited, but not as limited as a 6 pin decoder.

Revolution have gone for the new Next 28 (ESU E24) decoder to get all the light variations on their CL59 and CL66 models.

what forward lights should display in freight mode / passenger mode?

The only options are one light each side above the buffer beam, which is express passenger train, or one light at the top of the nose, which is a stopping passenger train, i.e., suburban.

One light at top of nose with another single light above one end of the buffer beam will denote goods train of one sort or another, but you don't have that option, so single light at top of nose will have to do for a goods train too. That's what I'm doing.

Looking at photos on the web they often carried discs and even standard oil lamps to give the headcode.
