RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted July 9 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 9 Looking good, some of the new high rise peapod flatlets being thrown in Birmingham currently are as fast as your build - I suspect yours is better and will last longer! Have a gentle evening on the tiles ! Robert

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted July 10 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10 For variety, you could chip the occasional corner off one or two tiles. But I'm very impressed you're keeping the rows straight without any guide lines.
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted July 10 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10 I’m actually starting to curve the rows downwards slightly to match the sag of the ridge. I considered scribed tile strips but they would be too neat. Individual tiles give that random texture that strips would never provide. I'd be interested to learn how you made your tiles? Or bought them in? Andy Edited July 10 by AndyB
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted July 10 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10 Hi Andy, It’s 4mm-ish scale. I made the tiles myself using a sheet of thin card. I made a series of parallel cuts and then cut strips of tiles away as illustrated below. Cheers Darius 2

I work in N gauge but think that could translate; maybe using paper. Andy Edited July 10 by AndyB

RMweb Premium Ramrig Posted July 13 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13 I’ve still got a programme that was brought from the cinema when I was taken as a child to see the film. Lots of good images in it. I’ll see if I can locate it and see if there are any images that may help your build. The real windmill is Cobstone, it’s located on the hill behind Turville, the village that was used for Goodnight Mr Tom and The Vicar of Dibley.
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted July 13 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13 It was the second* film that I ever saw in the cinema - the Odeon in Hanley near Stoke - in the early ‘70s. My mum took me and my sister plus two friends. I remember after the film was over we all skipped back to the car singing the theme song. Cheers Darius * The first was Disney’s “The Jungle Book” in the Rex cinema in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
