These tended to run in fixed sets roughly one pool per rake. From memory the pools were not often mixed up. The rakes tended to be between 20 and 32 wagons long. The supplied transfers are no use at all for a stone traffic MSV. The kit buffers do not seem to represent the real ones, they look a bit like compressed ones. I fit more accurate buffers from Lanarkshire Model Supplies. The stone appears to be a mix, sometimes grey, sometimes beige, weathered in streaks on the side. Photos of Tytherington quarry should assist as that was AFAIK one of the loading places. RiverCider has also pointed me to Whatley quarry. Grey and Buff appears correct so the beige streaks from memory are correct. Originally built for iron ore but used for all sorts of other traffics such as sand, stone, scrap and coal. There was also a small fleet of PSV’s built to the same design and used for iron ore to Irlam and later. Coal to Corby. As is, drill through, lump off, finished Ends are ready, one hole moved slightly, this will be hidden by the buffer plate, this one is getting B018 as it will be B386019. I have had four varnish fails, suspect not enough Klear, and the matt is too hard, will try finer coats with longer between on 8, 9, 10. With the 3 damaged having partial repaints and new transfers. The side lip should be over the ends so wider shorter, yet fits together better narrower longer. I glue them in pairs, then leave to set. I use the square ends of steel rulers, after checking they are square, simple test is draw line on end, flip over, if it matches, it is square. At that date Pool 7603 was a 30 wagon MSV set working from ARC Whatley to Fareham along with Pools 7601, 7605, and 7607. Meanwhile Pool 7665 was a mixed Pool 20 MSV 20 MTV working Foster Yeoman Merehead to Theale along with similar set 7663. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/forums/topic/162893-tops-wagon-pool-identities/ Each Pool would contain a few spares above the number of wagons required for the contract load. There was also a spare set which was used as cover when the other sets each made their periodic visit to Barton Hill carriage and wagon shops for planned preventive maintenance. Thanks for the inspiration - I have 12 of these - built ages ago but in a box awaiting painted & transfers (always my Achille's heel - I'm rubbish at it). Now going to finish them off as Pool 7603 wagons. I replaced all the buffers with LMS ones - mixture of Oleo & Dowty.
