A REME D8 recovery tractor? Are they going to do the beach recovery version, the boat looking thing with tracks hiding behind the locomotive, as well?

And the 45 ton tracked recovery trailer?

I think you're entering the realms of fantasy there, Jones.

It might just be Jones' butchers van, maybe with sychronised portholes/rifles.

But will it be the petrol-based version or the gas conversion, perhaps the tooling will provide for both varieties?

My assumption is that Rapido UK will have a sense of taste and decorum in associating a model announcement with the D-Day commemorations, and so it must be something to do with the S160?

That they’re doing it in N would be my hope. (Hope, not expectation…)

As always very cryptic, but I absolutely agree it should be tasteful and respectful of the the loss of life on D-Day and the days that followed in the liberation of Europe and give us the freedoms we enjoy today.

Personally I am not 100% sure about the S160 even as a OO model given it's limited period of UK/European operation, but then I don't have the market research and it isn't my cash being used so what does my opinion matter? What I would see as much more viable in N is the Robinson ROD (LNER 04) 2-8-0 given it's long life, pretty extensive use in the UK and overseas and one in UK preservation (more in OZ). However, I think Rapido have very much managed the N Gauge modeller's expectation recently by saying that N models will have a slower lead-time so I expect a OO model of some kind and the "Don't Panic" reference rather suggests a "Dad's Army" themed model so not necessarily even a loco or item of rolling stock - I agree with what has been said elsewhere - possibly CPL Jones's van or similar.

One of these shunters has been beautifully restored by a group in Holland.

They have a website where the restoration has been documented.

I will try to find the link...
